  1. Coffee as a metaphor for the collapse of Cuba.

Cuban’s monthly ration of coffee comes in an unlabelled clear plastic bag. It is only 50% coffee, the other 50% is split chickpeas. Unfortunately, this “coffee” has a tendency to explode when brewed. The real coffee sold in US dollars is beyond the reach of most Cubans.

Cuba is a country in ruins. The problems are endless. Food shortages, gas shortages, daily blackouts, water that flows only a few hours a day. Seniors are expected to survive on a pension of US $10 a month. Tourism has never recovered from Co-vid. Cubans with relatives abroad survive from handouts. Those without have trouble getting enough to eat.

    1. But Leftist Canadistanis continue to vacay in Cuba, despite these facts, that Cubans are oppressed thanks to is continued communist regime.
      Canadians are stupid!

Tourism is a large part of the Cuban economy. So tourist spending helps the poor in Cuba. Just how STUPID are you? Oh yah, you think pointing out a Jew is a Jew , is some how antisemitic, that’s how STUPID you are!

        1. Tourism is a large part of the government economy, the resort workers get peanuts while the commissars get the hard currency.

          1. Peety
Tourists give tips CASH, directly to the people, and the government does not get that, I know, I’v been down there, and was told be several people working the tourist industry. And my brother found the same thing about 20 years ago.

          2. Wow, people are trying to reason with GYM. Nothing like a dark comedy to start anew year with.

      2. These communist Canadians are nothing better than slave owners living fat off the land off the backs of the poor. It is disgusting and I am not shocked that they don’t understand it.

    2. Great health care tho eh?
An old friend in New Brunswick told me about a very pretty, smiley Cuban woman in a public market, as proof that Fidel must have done something right! I asked, rhetorically, if she might be smiley because she’s in Canada not Cuba.
Update: I’m imagining that Trudi and co. have wiped that annoying smile off her pretty face.

    1. Pappy – Right? He was seduced by Sophia Loren and when he woke up he almost kissed Rosie O’Donnell.

    1. huh.
lve been sarcastically preaching since the turn of the century there will be a day when a miniscule less that 1/10 1%, tiny, own EVERYTHING. including intangibles and ‘future’ rights and patents and mining rights down to 20 miles ‘just to make sure’ and satellite orbits and digital information.
the rest of us, we will own literally only the clothes on our back. everything else,
appliances, furniture, transportation, accomodations, factories, roads, retail space, all of it we rent. a lot of the big stuff we already do retail and office space, lots of vehicles being rented. sheeeeee-it.

now l know how its going to happen.

  2. what the *$^#*#^#)!*# H-E-hockey schticks do these hard core communists EXPECT when the social rules and law of the land is citizens work for a given ‘return’ and then expect to hand over the famous ‘surplus’ to the gubbamint?
no such thing as patents because owning the means of production is solely . . . . .
    l cant continue.

  3. My coworkers ex Fiat 500 was apparently more in love with the mechanics in the shop than it was with her owner.

    1. When an ad tries to seduce you instead of actually selling the car, you have to ask “What’s wrong with the car?”
Apparently plenty, if there’s any truth to the rep that precedes Fiat.
But… you know, ads like this target the stupid, so anyone that falls for this campaign deserves what they get.

      1. Actually, it’s a very good ad. Advertising is designed to appeal to your subconscious. This ad gets your attention, is memorable and has an unconscious seductive appeal. Check the comments.

      2. Adam Carolla often rants about the fact that Subaru in America markets their cars by saying “they’re made with love”. Then he reminds us that this is the same company that makes Attack Helicopters for the Japanese military!

  4. An optimist stays up until midnight to see the new year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.

and, here we are, kicking off 2020 Redux.

  5. Love that FIAT 500, put a mower deck on it, and I’ll trade my kabota lawnmower in on it:-))))

  7. The Dear Leader has increased the federal public service by 40% since he took office. No doubt you are enjoying all the new and improved services that they are providing to taxpayers.

“The federal public service reached a record size last year as the amount of jobs filled through non-advertised posts soared to nearly three times the level prior to the election of the Liberal government in 2015.

In addition, more public servants switched jobs, resigned or were investigated than at any time during the Trudeau government’s mandate, new statistics from the Public Service Commission of Canada show.

The commission’s annual report, tabled last month in Parliament, says the size of the federal public service reached 274,219 employees at the end of the most recent fiscal year on March 31, 2023, as defined by the Public Service Employment Act. That was up 6.5 per cent year over year and 40.4 per cent higher than the end of the 2014-15 fiscal year.

That’s consistent with figures published by the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat last year showing that total public-service employment, including departments and agencies not included in the PSC count, increased over the same period by 39 per cent, to 357,247 people, also a record.”

  8. Documentary The Fall of Minneapolis:

    https://youtu.be/eFPi3EigjFA?si=en5LDXKtqtAo4ltV

Apologies if this was here before. Watch it before it disappears from YT.

To me it’s about more than the fall of a city, it’s a small scale preview of the fall of the West. Recipe is century old and has been done by the Left many times:
    1) blow out/exaggerate a small-scale issue and make it political, create anarchy/social unrest
    2) add gasoline to the fire with some public trial where Justice has to do no-matter-what mob’s wish, not actual justice; if trial doesn’t go mob’s way, do civil war and burn down everything
    3) Claim success, rule/be the state.

    1. It has, but it’s worth a watch if you haven’t seen it. We really still have not paid a full price for the stand (kneel) down of 2020. The doubling, and in some cases tripling, of violent crimes – murders, assaults and robberies in every large city is just a deposit.

    2. DanC:

      Saw it.
Strongly URGE everyone to see it mebbe over 2-3 sessions if necessary. You may dismiss it believing you know the story.
      YOU DON’T, TRUST ME.

My very best call, even before he got the nomination:
