      1. to clarify, look into what a reverse mtg is.

        a process by which those providing the funds assume ‘ownership’ of a portion of the equity. and every month are entitled to the equivalent more, of a mtg payment.
        they collect their due when the property sells. in my case the additional monthly amount due is matched on average by price increase from inflation. (and yes Martha, no guarantees but l rely on averages observed from 40 year of ownership)

  13. Change plans slightly this year.
    We usually bring in Chinese food from a local restaurant that makes authentic, very close to what I ate while in China on a business trip. Maybe stay up to midnight, depends on how people with names like Grams and Grumps can last that late.

    This year, with the decent weather, I’m firing up the BBQ and doing Rib Steaks, baked potatoes and some veggie side. Going to hit the “well aged” side of the wine rack for a very good red (Terroir, Malbec or Pinot? Hmmmm). Finish out the evening with a very good Bourbon or Scotch and a great cigar while bundled up on the deck.

    Grams and I might see midnight, though I doubt it as we have family coming over for a roast lamb feed on NY day.

  15. My wife and I typically, on New Year’s Eve, retire to bed at 9 p.m., along with our dog Jack to watch some TV and sleep, just like every other night. But a month ago the dear wife tore a ligament in her left knee, so both Jack and I have been sleeping in a different bed. Jack — a spaniel and Welsh Corgi mix — senses that something is wrong and has been good and quiet the past four weeks. Michele has been slowly getting better. We have had PSW’s and people from our church come in to help us out.

    1. I hope she is Ok and I don’t know you. My wife has had some serious medical problems over the last few years but has so far had great recovery. All the best in the New Year.
