      1. I still think we need to start an online petition demanding that Dundas Street be renamed Mohammed’s Way, to see how stupid the left are and how many names we can collect to support that.

      2. Marxists have no use for history. The end goal is always to destroy the present. If you can wrap that in cloak of fake history, so much the better.

      1. You got that right. Almost as stupid as naming all the wards in Edmonton with unpronounceable indigenous names which are utterly meaningless in the context of identifying areas of the city . Better they had left them numbered. At least that was concise.. i can just see the naming committee chortling as they convinced the dumb white men to buy into this farce.

      2. Maybe they are just readying Dundas Square to be a future slave auction market as we submit to our new masters?

  1. Not quite as funny but … imagine getting on the subway or a bus every day to go to your shitty minimum wage job because you can’t afford a car and seeing that sign and being a black immigrant from Africa. I can imagine how comforting that would feel.

  2. The idea that Africans had a major role in the slave trade is going to shock a lot of people, who will explain it was the malign influence of the white man’s voodoo.

    1. that the majority of slaves were not in the USA would also be a shock . only about 6% of the African trade ended up in the USA

      1. maybe if you pointed out that the us
was even less than .2 percent of the world pop at that time ,

  3. This simply quantifies the base ignorance of Social Justice Warriors.
Its comparable to a Westminster Parliament giving a standing ovation to a living Nazi.
Or a Climate Crisis Cultist declaring that the Laurentide ice sheet retreated due to anthropogenic global warming.

    1. “Its comparable to a Westminster Parliament giving a standing ovation to a living Nazi.”

That right there. Politicians who have NO education in actual history, even 20th century history. The ignorance is appalling. I have said that those running for office need to pass some basic science tests, like physics, meteorology and so on, so that they understand the massive drawbacks of wind and solar power. Now I think they’d need to pass a bunch of history exams, too. A big bunch.

I think I must be of the last generation (Boomers) that got some actual education. Following generations got their education from Disney.

  4. Caltoo: the number of Africans who were actually slaves in Canada would be substantially fewer. Sugar cane and cotton fields are not a major part of our national landscape.

    1. The bulk of the slave trade went to the Ottoman Empire and to China and India. Slave trading was dominated by various African nations for suppliers and for European nations the Dutch and Portuguese for transport. For assorted Islamic nations like Zanzibar, slave trading was their principal industry.

Some slaves went to the various Caribbean Islands for sugar. More went to Central and South America. There was relatively little import into the Thirteen Colonies and nothing into British North America. By the beginning of the 19th century there was no import into the United States.

      1. when alcohol was prohibited, do you
        think there was none imported???
        slaves were still imported.
        illegally (GASP)

        1. Import of slaves? Not very much and far too difficult. And only by a few Southern states. The US had already been joining Britain in the 1820s to wipe out slave shipments. Congress banned slave trading in 1808 and slave ownership was outlawed in all northern states by 1793. There was some smuggling but with the US navy joining the Royal Navy this was increasingly difficult or simply impossible.

  5. We are governed by bigger and bigger idiots, the sort whose intellect fits in a thimble. Unfortunately, I don’t see a way of replacing them with smart folks short of a bloody revolution, and that would cut into Canadians’ HNIC time.

  6. It’s about destroying the past. They don’t care what they replace it with. They only care that you can no longer remember where you came from, or the great men who built the civilized world.
They are literally the new Vandals.

  7. Matters not a whit. It’s a tribe from Africa and that’s all that matters to Chow and her minions, so shut up whitey.
    It’s their truth.
Don’t forget kids…10 days till Kwanza. I’m stoked!!!!

  8. It’s hard not to laugh at this stuff. I was just reading about Dr. Tabia Lee, who was hired by a Silicon Valley school to serve as the Director of their DEI (Inclusionary nonsense). They fired her for promoting white supremacy.

    She is a black woman.

  9. Meaningless places deserve meaningless names.. You know you are in trouble when politicians adopt unanimous decisions.. And then they came for me.. They could have left well enough alone and named the next new street, highway or transit debacle anything they wanted..

Im at the corner of who knows what and I don’t know :).. African slavers laying claim to what?.. I’m sure the businesses forced to eat this rebranding are falling over themselves with unanimous joy..

    1. “You know you are in trouble when politicians adopt unanimous decisions.”

I remember when parliament voted to make Nelson Mandela an honorary Canadian. One MP voted against. I was fairly young at the time and could not fully appreciate the situation, but it still seemed important to me that someone was willing to disagree. Now we punish disagreement and no longer get much of it. How long before any dialogue is impossible?

  10. ok but first we should remember that Joseph Brant was a slave owner. So they need to change Brant Park, Brant Street, Brant Park Condos, Brant Street Daycare etc etc etc……..all traces must be scrubbed clean.

    1. Brant gets a pass because he was native. To suggest that he shouldn’t is racist and white supremacist, and probably homophobic.

  11. Well you have to admit that the Akan were victims of the British Royal Navy, and their anti-slavery patrols in the atlantic, which mostly destroyed the slave trading economy of the Akan…

Toronto government is largely full of muppets

  12. Read in the Epoch Times this a.m. that the cost of the street re-naming was originally projected to be — gasp — $6 million. It’s now — gasper — $12 million. The city is broke and is projected to see a debt level of over $30 billion in 3-4 years.

The West has the stupidist ruling class in history.

    1. The West has the stupidist ruling class in history.

Not if their goal is the destruction of the West.

  13. The truth about this has to have come to their attention by now, hasn’t it? And they’re going to explain how? Or am I being totally optimistic?

  14. Slavery was bad obviously but you wonder, if given a choice, how many residents of western hemisphere would go back and prevent slavery of their distant ancestors? It’s more likely whites would go back and prevent enslavement. As somebody on FR often posts, too bad we didn’t pick our own damned cotton.

    1. “Champ, what did you think of Africa?” Muhammad Ali replied, “Thank God my granddaddy got on that boat!”

  15. “The early 19th-century abolitions of the Atlantic slave trade caused a decline in slave exports, but the demand for enslaved labor grew within the Akan region itself. While for most of the 19th century, slavery experienced an overall growth, in various coastal centers, and in some areas of the Gold Coast, this same period saw the development of anti-slavery sentiment and strong abolitionist pressures. Later in the 19th century, the abolitionist legislations put in place as a result of the colonial occupation by Great Britain and France had some crucial effects. These laws recognized for the first time the fundamental right to freedom of bonded individuals by outlawing their subjection and providing them with effective and immediate legal instruments for claiming their freedom in colonial courts. In actual terms, however, the pace of change in the realm of subjection was very slow and, all in all, unsatisfactory with respect to the initial intentions of the anti-slavery legislation. Throughout the first half of the 20th century, there were still cases of individuals sold or pawned. Slavery and pawnship, in fact, survived for decades, notwithstanding profound changes in the economic and socio-political framework. That legacy is still very much present in the memory and discourse of Akan societies in the early 21st century.”

      1. The Bible speaks of non-Hebrews having involuntary slaves. For the Hebrews slavery was a means of paying off debts.

  16. Modern slavery:

The work of a wokester is never done. In the world of integrated circuits, the inocuous and very descriptive technical terms master and slave have been abolished from Arm’s AXI bus specification

    Chapter A1. Introduction
    A1.2. AXI Architecture
    A1.2 AXI Architecture
The AXI protocol is transactions-based and defines five independent channels:
    • Write request, which has signal names beginning with AW.
    • Write data, which has signal names beginning with W.
    • Write response, which has signal names beginning with B.
    • Read request, which has signal names beginning with AR.
    • Read data, which has signal names beginning with R.
A request channel carries control information that describes the nature of the data to be transferred. This is known as a request.
The data is transferred between Manager and Subordinate using either:
    • A write data channel to transfer data from the Manager to the Subordinate. In a write transaction, the Subordinate uses the write response channel to signal the completion of the transfer to the Manager.
    • A read data channel to transfer data from the Subordinate to the Manager.

It’s a woke joke, except it is not funny.

Isn’t manage/subordinate also a power relationship (in the human world). Would it not be more accurate to use the words extreme-right-wing-terrorist and victim?

    1. Or, as it is a “transaction based” protocol, perhaps seller and buyer would be more appropriate. Or, maybe, conman and sucker. I am sure countless unprofitable dollar-hours were spent investigating this obscure problem.

  17. They don’t actually care about slavery. Enslaving mankind is their ultimate goal in any event.

The Empire of Mammon merely seeks excuses to expropriate and murder anybody deemed a threat to its power—Jewish and Gentile alike—leaving everything worth owning in the hands of a few thousand extremely wealthy and utterly soulless monsters.

You’ll own nothing. You’ll eat nothing but your rations based mostly on ground-up vermin. And you’ll be expected to like it.

The Jewish people get their understanding of how this ends not from some half-baked self-serving ideology but from history. They know how this ends.

And this time there won’t be clear-eyed barbarians arriving to pick up where the Empire left off. All the nations who defy and deny the God of Israel will at last be destroyed, or rather destroy themselves, driven into extinction by famine, plague and genocidal race wars, before the children taken hostage by Hamas pass away. And God’s people will finally inherit the earth.

If you would see the final end of man’s inhumanity to man, pray that the end of the Empire come soon.
