Federal and Nova Scotia governments kill offshore petroleum project in name of “clean energy”. No more gas development. Don’t even try. But wind? You betcha.
And here’s an analysis of why. It has a lot to do with the fact Nova Scotia can still pay for its hospitals with natural gas money, just natural gas produced in Alberta and Saskatchewan. And it has more to do with Guilbeault announcing a defacto production cap by banning venting and flaring.
And along the topic of the undead, the federal regulator still isn’t done with stretching out the Trans Mountain Expansion pipeline. What’s another $200 million per month delay?
As a side note, two years ago I ran into the consultant whose job it was to shut down, abandon and clean up this project. He was the company man looking after the drilling of the first lithium well in Canada, near Torquay, Saskatchewan. I never got around to writing a story about it, dammit. Not enough hours in the day.
And if anyone feels like asking CJME/CKOM why Zinchuk isn’t scheduled to do his regular energy spot the first Wednesday of the month, as he did with Gormley:

Evan Bray is continuing in the tradition of the John Gormley Lecture Series. He seems to love the sound of his own voice, me … not so much. Mother nature gave us two ears and one mouth. Bray needs to listen twice as much as he talks. #notafan
Agree dark wing. Slowly but surely they are moving that talk show left wing.I’m done with it as are many others I know
Bray knelt with BLM when he was chief. Haven’t listened to one minute of his show.

Liberal socialists are all nuts.
The Federal outhouse is long overdue a moving and rebuilding. It is overflowing with excrement.
Freezing in the dark is a green alternative.
I’ll miss Cape Breton, but after what the Maritimes did during COVID (actual sub-national roadblocks and residence checks), no thanks.
yet no interest from the RCMP as north americas biggest serial killer runs around unimpeded in a known fake cop car .
My idea has been that pipeline would never get into operation. I would guess it won’t be that hard to delay through 2024. It has ,however, been an excellent money laundry .
In a little aside ,somewhat off topic. I checked your CKOM link. There is a headline bemoaning the fact people are being sent out of province because of wait times for mammograms. My sister went for one last week. One of the questions was checking if you had recently gotten your jab or booster. Apparently that would delay the test as in some cases abnormalities could show up. She was “assured” it would be nothing to worry about. Fortunately she had nothing since the initial push , in spite of a great deal of pressure to do so. That couldn’t possibly be a bottleneck in the system. Certainly safe and effective and stays in the arm. Nothing to see, move on.
It will go into operation eventually but, like you said, after every possible money laundering scheme has been used.
The transmountain pipeline’s incredibly long delays also might have something to do with the outcomes after commissioning. The price differential between Western Canada Select (WCS) oil and world oil prices will improve which benefits Trudeau’s enemies (Alberta and Saskatchewan). Oil exports to countries other than the USA will increase and I’m not sure how the American government will like that because they probably like being Canada’s dominant customer and getting cheap Alberta oil.
There is no need to develop your own 7natural resources when transfer payments cover the bills. It also helps whn your regions’ votes are worth twice as much as those votes where the transfer payments come from.
Good on Brian to write “clean” because we all know it’s a relative term.
Because if you’re relatively stupid you think wind power is clean.
Radio talking heads are in the entertainment industry. Listeners would sooner hear salacious fluff than hard news.
Most talk show hosts reflect their low information audience.
The guy who does morning talk in Calgary/Edmonton is as dim a bulb as you could find. He’s at his best talking about the Bongs socks.
Pathetic.
I’m in Nova Scotia, there are no conservatives. Tim whatsisname (premier) is another dependent subsidy whore with no guts at all, just like his pathetic constituents. Living here makes me want to puke.
What? Economic sabotage. Malignant stupidity. Anyone wonder why Canada is in dire economic circumstances? Governments, especially ideological ones, are the reason.
For as long as others (BC/AB/Sask.) are paying those transfer payments (gov’t welfare) there is no reason for the have-not provinces to change, regardless of what the Atlantic provincial parties call themselves. Conservatives? wot?
The incentive to actually do something constructive will occur after AB/Sask. have separated from old Canada.
Even then, Atlantic Canada will see Ontario as their saviors and beg for help (cash actually). Hopefully after the west separates, Quebec goes their own way too, thereby solidifying the way forward for the intergenerational welfare collecting Atlantic provinces.
No, don’t call us looking for work, we already have enough drywallers who can hardly speak English here.
I’m from Nova Scotia but living in Alberta. Thank God!!!!
There’s too much NA natty gas. Sable Island isn’t needed when there’s 100’s of TCF’s of Marcellus and Utica shales in NE U.S. and Quebec/N.B.. Sable’s not going anywhere. When Henry Hub heads over $7 in 3 yrs when LNG exports hit 25 bcf/d maybe that pipeline gets built.
Just do not ask for equalization payments, as the rest of Canada does not want your dead industries and bad ideas for your once viable province.
