Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Yup. Cream. They haven’t made Supergroups in a long, long, time, eh?
Speaking of Supergroups … I’ve just been re-exploring Humble Pie … a super group with Steve Marriott (of the Small Faces) and Peter Frampton (my oh my how Frampton played blues guitar!). They literally named themselves ‘Humble Pie’ because they were embarrassed by the label of being a Supergroup.
Marriott is one of the GREATEST rock vocalists ever. And yet he remains virtually unknown …

A ‘hats off to my Dad moment’ – he bought HP tickets for my cousin and I in ’73 (15yrs old then) – fine summer ‘rockin’ night in Toronto … I am sure he had no idea who they were – just asked a girl at work for an idea of a night out that a couple of kids might enjoy!.
Wow. I envy you. What a great experience and memory to have. I was a Jr. in HS in 73 … 17yo … I doubt they did the following tune as it is pretty far from their style of music … but I am in LOVE with the shear artistry of Humble Pie’s cover of For Your Love by The Yardbirds (Supergroup covering Supergroup). However … I can hardly call it a cover as HP has completely deconstructed the song in every way and reassembled it as probably the GREATEST “unplugged” performance in history … before there was even a thing called “unplugged”

And, again … the shear artistry and skill of Peter Frampton playing lead/fill acoustic guitar is just jaw dropping. They say (and it’s true) that music is … timing. The notes … and the space between the notes. Holy!!! Frampton has “got it” … the whole band has “got it” Greg Ridley playing the bass lines on a six string is the glue that holds this tune together.
Thanks for sharing that. Very Traffic-like. Long before there was plugged there was unplugged. 😉
Thanks for taking me back 50 years!
This is not Cream playing…
Real bass players use a fretless bass, and Jack Bruce is one of the very best.
As far as I am concerned, he was the true genius behind Cream.
I don’t disagree … however … if you’ve seen the Documentary “Beware Mr. Baker” (highly recommended) … Ginger Baker made the case of how he gave the shape and unusual time signatures to all of Cream’s greatest hits. Baker said he completely remade the rhythm of White Room and Sunshine of Your Love … completely different from the slow pacing Bruce wrote them.

The band I’ve been sitting in with wants to play this song. The bass player is very good and has no problem with the bass line. The drummer has got those Ginger Baker rolls down pat. I’ve asked them to give me a while to get Clapton’s part down. 😀
Not a problem.
For the last year I’ve been listening to the long version of Spoonful, at least once a day. Eventually I will leap to my feet, grab a guitar (hope it’s the Strat!) and knock off the whole sixteen minutes….
People say that’s a delusion caused the afternoon THC gummies, but what do they know? Haters gotta hate.
Ha ha! Clapton’s detractors are an insane bunch. I could do without Wonderful Tonight, however.
