The drama from OpenAI has done what I think is somewhat permanent damage to the company and the product with the largest PAYING clients the have. The executives want answers and they don’t get this from their “I know the API” staff.
THIS IS A BIG CRISIS.
I’ll be here all day.
Original post below.
Elon Musk played a big role in persuading Ilya Sutskever to join OpenAI as chief scientist in 2015. Now the Tesla CEO wants to know what he saw there that scared him so much.
Maybe its just the lying.

I pointed this out a couple weeks ago. You will be hard pressed to find any reporting on the issue by mainstream media that even mentions that Musk was involved with the founding of OpenAI. He, not only, recruited Sutskever; he recruited a large portion of the entire staff and donated a lot of money to get it up and running. Yet, the media keeps referring to Sutskever as a co-founder with Altman (and no mention of Musk).
Musk is not well liked among Silicon Valley. The envy factor is off the charts. And, were I to guess the source of the current chaos…I’d bet it has something to do with the Pentagon sticking it’s nose under the tent and influencing the direction of the research with a tax dollar waterfall.
It’s not just Scott Adams who found that AI is dishonest Tony Heller had his well explained experience with Chat GPT as well.

I had an experience similar to Heller’s. I asked a science question, got an obviously wrong answer, explained why the response was wrong, got the obsequious apology. When I posed the original question again at a later time, the same wrong answer was provided. Never used it again. OTOH, my brother regularly has to write “corporate e-mails”, and has found that feeding the correspondence parameters to the “thing” yields quick and useful blurbs, that he lightly edits (to erase the GPT’s mannerisms) and fires them away. The executive assistant to the executive assistant!
Well instead of “experts” lying to us, we’ll have AI lying to us. We know they lie and they know we know they lie, but they lie anyways.
The last time I heard the euphemism… “lacked candor” … the FBI was behaving illegally against the interest of the American people. Hearing that Altman … lacked candor … has a depressingly familiar ring to it …
Well, think about this for a second. Currently, the various alphabet agencies, and the DOJ/FBI etc. have all these mega-data collecting programs being abused beyond anyone’s reckoning. The most recent to come to light is “Hemisphere” . That particular violation of privacy has collected trillions (that’s with a “t”) of domestic phone records (without a warrant).
Now, that creates a problem. Too much data, too little time. Keyword searches need to be passed over for something more efficient and programable and malleable more personable and “intelligent”. Enter Artificial Intelligence.
I think it’s a pretty good guess that Open AI got an offer from certain parties of the US government that they just couldn’t refuse.
Well instead of “experts” lying to us, we’ll have AI lying to us. We know they lie and they know we know they lie, but they lie anyways. Controlling information and the narrative, as always.
Just let me know when the robot dogs get armed so I can go hunting.
Isn’t there enough artificial intelligence among humans to supply the demand ?
We get brainwashed.. AI gets brain dirty.. A talking head is a talking head.. The idea that we are cooking up Mr. Spock is absurd.. It’s exactly like wikipedia.. Good for things that don’t matter.. Terrible for anything of a political or financial matter..
Amusing stuff really.. Leftists cant even be bothered to fight their own battles anymore.. Nothing to curate, no reason to be.. Politics needs a opponent in order to survive and your only as good as your enemy.. They are fools..
AI tech development is getting quite scary, and I doubt whether this will end well for anyone.
A talking computer is still a computer. Why are people forgetting that? GIGO applies to “AI” as well as everything else.
I had to go through this in 1995 or so when all the old farts back then said this internet thing is all a bunch of hooey. Just a fad. They’re pretty much all dead now. The Internet wasn’t a fad.
The problem Steve is that AI is not sentient and never will be. As clever as the programing gets it will not have a human brain or emotions. I am sure that many will try to apply such attributes but they will be false and part of the programing.
