          I recently received a card in my mailbox from the BC government inviting me to participate in a website survey …the BC Demographic Survey, they called it. Okay, maybe…I read a little further and discovered that it was for “doing your part to improve public services”, which is fine…but that was followed immediately by “and address systemic racism in BC”. Oh HELL NO. Not gonna participate in this farce, sorry. There has been no such thing as ‘systemic racism’ in Canada for *decades* now, and they know it. This is 100% about virtue-signalling, buying votes and creating taxpayer-funded employment for certain preferred ethnic/gender groups.

          1. Fred – there is systemic racism in Canada. Ever see a middle aged white guy on CBC or Global news or weather broadcasts in the last ten years? If you have it’s the exception so doesn’t reflect the national demographic. Just an observation.

      And how many white parents put up with what their kids are taught?

      And yes I would agree skin color factors in to being hired in some places, but many white kids are now taught that’s okay, and they are the problem.

  4. Grew up in those days, and they weren’t always that innocuous. Do remember Dad bringing in the garbage pails and making our lot secure lest some adventurous spirits decide to overturn them or otherwise commit minor vandalism.
    Costumes were – at our home – home-made but we certainly went out trick-or-treating. Popcorn balls were prized, as were the candied apples one family handed out.
    We weren’t big on decorations then, but the pumpkin was always carved out and – lit from within by a candle – shone brightly from a window. We maintain that tradition to this day; the pumpkin will be carved and sit out on the balcony watching the wee revelers.

The far more rational proposal coming from the Great Barrington conference (protecting the vulnerable, rather than locking up everyone) was quickly dismissed. The government needs to acknowledge the profound failure of its Covid policies. The Canadian media should be asking questions.

  22. Most of my Halloween memories are from the 50’s and very early 60’s. Costumes were, for the most part, home made. IIRC, it was warmer. We’d go for miles, come home and dump goodies and then go out some more. It was safe and fun. Candy has generally gotten better though, it seems. And way more expensive.

      Sounds familiar to my experience growing up in the 60’s. My brother and I would end up with mounds of candy. I recall getting lots of Hallowe’en kisses which were almost guaranteed to pull a filling out of tooth. Gee, I miss those!

    Since the economy declined by 0.2 percent in 2Q this year, the latest data suggests that Canada has been in a technical recession since this past April. But in per capita terms, since the Liberal-NDP government has essentially opened the flood gates to newcomers, per-cspita real GDP has declined big time.

    1. No increase in GDP with increased immigration? Why won’t the newcomers take jobs that Canadians don’t want to do? Could it have anything to do with the lavish benefits that newcomers get for the first four years after entry? Why work when you can still eat and have a place to live? Canadian pensioners survive on poverty level pensions via the CPP and OAS, but immigrants do much better by almost 100%. There is something rotten in the state of Bananada and it stinks like a Liberal/NDP coalition.

    I do not agree with everything the author says, but he brings up good ideas. Most of the ideas require activism on the part of Jewish-Cahadians: taking to the streets, joining or creating activist groups, suing woke groups, blacklisting the mini-Hitlers out there.

    All of the above means playing dirty. But that’s better than giving the federal government stronger laws to control speech. All our corrupt government would do is to use the stronger laws to suppress Jews and conservatives.
