Since no one is going to dig up Prairie Green landfill to look for the equivalent of needles in a haystack, these continuing protests are simply another excuse to browbeat the white colonialist regime for alleged past sins. Now that a judge has ordered the protesters to remove the blockade, the inevitable and absurd comparisons to the truck convoy protest have come out of the woodwork:
Val Vint said it was frustrating to see the blockade at the Brady landfill ordered to end after a matter of days, drawing a comparison with a protest against COVID-19 vaccine mandates and public health orders that was allowed to block streets in downtown Winnipeg for weeks last year.
Organizations that couldn’t be bothered to dig three feet to find an alleged known grave can’t grasp why anyone wouldn’t instantly agree to spend $180 million to dig up an entire landfill:
“That’s bullshit. Because the feasibility study was conducted by experts. We had an anthropologist on the technical working group,” Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs Grand Chief Cathy Merrick said in an interview on Wednesday.
Sooooo, how much are these tribal councils willing to kick in toward this $184 million in costs for sifting through a landfill?
Whatever would be kicked in would come from us anyway.

What are the odds the Winnipeg Police Service will do anything now that there is an injunction that they can enforce the law. Since when do you need an injunction to enforce the law?? I bet they will say it’s the weekend now we don’t need to enforce it until Monday. Then they will beg the protesters all week end to leave and do nothing next week either.

And that cost of $180 million is just an estimate. It does not consider the hazards for the people doing the work. If the First Nations want to dig up the landfill, then let them crowdfund the money, if they can. And what evidence do they have that points to 2 corpses being in the landfill in the first place? Conjecture is not evidence.

How about the natives put up a bond guaranteeing full repayment of ALL money spent if nothing is found. Also A minimum of three competitive bids for the work. Since the taxpayer is expected to pay for this ALL oversight and management is by the taxpayers’ managment of choice.

A quick perusal of recent, and not so recent, submissions under the First Nations Financial Transparency Act for the tribes in Manitoba was an eye opener.
The accumulated surplus of the first 8 listed bands is a staggering $208,686,809.00!!! And that folks was just the first 8 of the 63 indian ghettos in Manitoba. I could go add them all up but then I would probably be physically ill at the mind numbing amount of tax dollars given to those people.
Let them pay for the search. Let’s see how important it actually is to them if they have to pay for it.

And consider the COtwo that will be generated by the machinery and what to do with any runoff that may contaminate the surface water and the aquifers in the area. Like, these GOVERNMENT guys ‘n gals ‘n, other than, guys ‘n gals, serve an important purpose and have to be included in any decisions! We may have to set up another department too.
