This lawsuit is the spawn of the successful lawsuits against “Big Tobacco”. $ Billions upon Billions poured into Law Firms … new swimming pools and $100k country club memberships for more lawyers than you can count. Oh! Wait! … but this DEADLY substance … tobacco … is still LEGAL to grow, dry, shred, and pack into tiny tubes and consume by anyone.
Tobacco is deadly-enough to extract $ Billions for the Lawyers … but not deadly enough to ban and make illegal. Hypocrisy doesn’t even come close to describing it.

If that’s all their case is, it should be immediately thrown out and the plaintiffs required to pay the defendant’s costs.
Firstly, it’s carbon dioxide, not carbon that is claimed to be responsible for global warming.
Secondly, the combined CO2 the companies emitted is rather miniscule when compared to the emissions from the people who actually burn the stuff. Like Multnomah county itself! For any such lawsuit to proceed, they should be required to first prove that they do not now, nor have they ever used fossil fuels themselves, and that they are banned in that county.
Perhaps all those named companies should stop providing product to Oregon….

47% of Oregon’s electricity comes from coal & gas, 43% from hydro. Where EVs are most popular in Oregon just over 2% drive one as opposed to an ICE vehicle. So they seem to be trying real hard with the law suits and not so hard in the realities.
When the rest of the state leaves for Idaho, and they try to stop them using their ‘Inculsion” officers I’ll be getting some popcorn to watch that.

Has Oregon demonstrated that they didn’t produce CO2 the last century and therefore are a victim of the CO2 other jurisdictions and corporations emitted? In other words if they believe that the byproduct of energy consumption and production is harmful, why are they using it themselves?
If they actually believe their own bullshit, they need to go after their own citizens for burning the fossil fuels. Try putting a $2/gallon gas tax on the ballot and see how it goes over. Or better yet, don’t put it on the ballot, just push it through the Democrat-owned Oregon legislature. Maybe that would finally be enough to wake up the voters.
