That’s Zulu for “Atlas is shrugging”. Which is basically what is happening in South Africa at the moment. A commodity rich nation which now finds itself unable to get said commodities to a location where they can be utilized. How much longer until they’ll be hauling coal to Richards Bay in donkey carts?
With dire predictions that the Port of Richards Bay’s handling of coal trucks is grinding to a halt, Transnet National Port Authority (TNPA) has confirmed that they will address the issue of failing to deliver coal by rail.
Meanwhile on the N2 highway – gridlocked by trucks waiting to offload export coal at the port – things are worsening daily.
The rail line faces disruptions along the route when trains are stopped, and equipment, which includes batteries, is stolen….
Black Communist culture.
Best of both worlds, amirite?
That would be simian culture. It’s part South Africa and part Chicago. Either way …. live somewhere else for your own safety and sanity.
I maintained in the 1960s Africans could not maintain Western installed equipment. The Congo and (original) Kenya railways are examples. Now, as Whites leave, it’s South Africa’s turn.

Precisely the same problem w/ potable water systems on Canaduh’s reserves. Use ’em, use ’em, use ’em. No maintenance, no repairs. A few years later they break down. Waahhhh, whitey, we need millions for new systems. Lather, rinse, repeat.
My friend designs and sells water systems, has made a very good living.
When I ask him what the problem is on the reserves he just rolls his eyes and says “guess”, which is partly your answer, partly the whites in the bureaucracy who would be out of a jobs if there were no emergencies.
And don’t forget where all the money for all the various commissions, etc., i.e., lawyers (remember the Lying Weasel?)
Yes, everything the gov’t touches tuns to shit. There is no accountability.
Buddy of mine & I sat down over beer years ago & hammered out a plan on the back of a napkin on how to fix this never-ending, money-sucking, downward spiral. The big “solution” that escapes all the keen, bureaucratic minds? Ensure that maintenance is part of the system contract. If they don’t know how to do it themselves, then hire someone else to do it for ’em. No maintenance, no cash, no water system. Period. One time deal.
“Buddy of mine & I sat down over beer years ago & hammered out a plan on the back of a napkin on how to fix this never-ending, money-sucking, downward spiral.”
Me and my buddy too. Our plan wasn’t as complex as yours.
Somewhat ironically, the solution to this was invented by Jean Chretien in 1969: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1969_White_Paper
It’s fascinating to see how a signature policy initiative of the first Trudeau government would look like a right-of-PPC plank today.
My buddy ran a fork lift business for decades. He mentioned several times Western countries would send over tractors and other farm vehicles. The Africans would drain the diesel fuel and engine oil to burn for their cooking. The vehicles were just abandoned of course.
You are so right as working in Congo right now .. but in oil and gas
Govt gets $ from the powers that be to reduce production and live on pineapples
It’s sad to see.
You cannot move coal in any significant quantity by truck. Only by rail or ship. This is precisely why New Brunswick has to import coal for its coal-fired station at Belledune – no transport infrastructure.
Not sure about that – my wife has family in Belledune and we visit there once in a while, but there is a big shipping port as well a 2 lane highway going through it.
I’m sure the Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Trucks (Coal) will get right on that…
Perhaps they could consult with Omar Alghabra.
Coming soon to Canada….we are well down this road already
Indeed, adoption and promotion of a tribal level of government. Give it ten years and Vancouver will look like Johannesburg.
I am reminded of the picture that the Globe and Mail had on its front page many years ago showing an ANC protest march in Capetown….the picture was very, VERY carefully cropped to ensure that people didn’t see the many hammer and sickle flags in the group. The media here made it appear to be a very wholesome endeavour when it was nothing more than a Marxist takeover. South Africa deserves it….the smart people got out long ago.
Why would South Africa need electricity?
It’s not traditional.
I have friends still there, as much as I’d like them to leave they still love it there. Only problem chatting with them on zoom is their power goes out once in awhile…
Like Canada, SA had an apartheid system and like Canada is now attempting, they inverted it rather than eliminate it. The results were predictable. The difference is that in SA the race that ascended is the vast majority of the population. In Canada, with 94% of the population of races less than 1/16 purity of the ascendant but dependent race, the results will likely be less predictable but enhanced racial discord and backlash is a certainty.
Coal is black
The white man wants to BURN the black coal
Coal is racist.
That must make Coal Harbour, Nova Scrotum the most racist place on earth !!
Besides Mar a Lago, natch.
“the coal truckers are also insisting that all trucks must join the kilometres-long queue”
Crabs in a bucket? Or just socialists.
This is what happens when you remove the people who know how to run things…and replace it with people who only know how to break things.
Exactly my point.
J Philippe Rushton we hardly knew ya…
