She Admires His Basic Dictatorship

The Alberta NDP…

…has taken not only to refusing to communicate with news media it doesn’t like, but even to suggesting who is and who is not a legitimate news organization.

At first, we thought it was just us. Certainly, at the Western Standard, we expect the NDP to be less than chummy. There’s a lot we don’t agree about. However, the NDP has also turned on other non-government funded media, and even the long-serving and capable David Staples at the Edmonton Journal. Awkward questions are not welcome.

  1. By inference Statistics Canada says NDP gets 6.9%
“Cumulative percent of people 18 and older who have in the last 6 months, completed the primary series or received a booster dose with a COVID-19 vaccine in Canada by jurisdiction, April 23, 2023.”
    https://health-infobase.canada.ca/covid-19/vaccination-coverage/#a3
(Set age to “18 and over”, and people to “vaccinated/boosted” in last 6 months.”)

  2. Actually, the media are wrong for not even maintaining the pretense of impartiality or investigative reporting.

  3. I’m no fan of Derek Fildebrandt (owner of the western standard).
Character matters and he is found wanting.

That said, if red rachael can’t win this with the entire countries media supporting her, then it’s off to BC with her and some upper government gig.

    1. Or maybe Red Rachel will need to check herself into rehab, for a 4th time (according to scuttlebutt on Locals). Is that why she’s looking so haggard lately.

      1. This was the post, on Danielle Smith’s Locals page April 27/2023:

“My husband’s best buddy’s ex wife was in rehab with Rachel Notley a number of years ago….for a cocaine addiction. Last summer the husband of a friend was in alcohol rehab with Rachel last year…

“Today a coworker of a good friend (who is also working on Danielle Smith’s election) revealed that Rachel was in rehab until this January and for obvious reasons will not release this information as it looks like smear campaign.

“How can we allow this woman to be on any ticket if there is even the slightest possibility that she could be our next premier?

Three reliable sources can not all be wrong.”
        ———————————
None of which is verified unless and until a reliable witness can confirm. And will someone who was in rehab be willing to subject themselves to the shitstorm the media would rain down on them if they disclosed?

        1. “Sources state that a high ranking ENDP MLA has recently been to rehab, for the second time Ms Notley. Are they capable of being a cabinet member when they have such character flaws?”
          Nice question for Have Notley.

  4. That is how communists operate. The history is there for anyone who knows how to read. No need for surprise.

  5. IDK about media limitations, but I might keep the CBC out just to piss off a lot of Liberal/NDP Scumrats.

  6. No…DS is not limiting the media….she is cutting down speeches disguised as questions from the media. Notley is cutting out any news organization she doesn’t like….there is a HUGE difference.

    1. Previous conservative leaders were cucks, trying to please their enemies, like, the Corpse.

The media should be treated with indifference and skepticism. They are, in practice and effect, another political party, ideological cousins of the ENDP, Greenies and Libtards. They are unionized, Quid Pro Quo.

  7. It’s not like the bribed press even cares about basic reportage let alone integrity or facts.

I don’t blame anyone for not trusting them.

  8. Typically when a leader loses an election and loses badly, the media clamors for them to be shown the door (well, conservatives anyway)

Surely there are other dyed in the wool commies in the NDP that can lead the party?

    Why is Notley still there?

    1. Because the NDP consists of one person backed by the usual suspects.

    2. Like North Korea, the Alberta NDP is essentially a hereditary communist dictatorship.

      1. Upon re-reading my own comment, I could also of course include the Liberal Party of Trudopia as a hereditary communist dictatorship.

  9. Notley?
Isn’t she a CBC talking head?

Quite amazing how people can vote for such a vile angry liar, poor Racheal should have been a Liberal, for the truth burns her lips..

    1. Sadly, with the polarization of the conservative vote, we will very likely end up with term 2 Notley. If that does happen, my prediction is at least two full term NDP governments, probably more.

Maybe Smith isn’t everyone’s favourite. Sorry, there isn’t a single person on the planet conservatives can agree on, Jesus H. Christ himself wouldn’t meet the standard of perfection required by some. And that’s how the left keeps winning. Maybe we deserve our fate.

      1. Wonko the Sane:

Bingo. I am so SO sick of perfection-seeking conservative utopians here who continually beat up on the very promising PP federally and Danielle Smith in Alberta.

The phrase “perfection is the enemy of the good” was tailor made for delusional SDA commenters looking for ideological purity.

  10. I wander in here for a quick look, and thought I had entered some lefty SHITHOLE!

  11. In my Southern AB circle, those who are touting the NDP (who have never voted NDP in their past) are doing so because they have drunk the Covid Kool aid. They still want masks, mandatory shots for jobs & access to travel and certain businesses, lock downs in winter months, distancing inside and out. All because they are afraid. They haven’t trusted gov’t in the past but somehow the thought of death to a Covid19 variant far surpasses the daily risks of heart failure/stroke/vehicular accidents/personal accidents or lightening.

Certain political parties and the Legacy Media have accomplished what they set out to do with a % of the population: ‘responsibility for everybody else’ trumps rights and freedoms. They are brain washed and primed to embrace communism.

I’m looking for like-minded people to band with when the proverbial poop hits the fan. And a piece of land further away from the idiots.

    1. I live in a residential rural area in south central Alberta. There are NDP signs on front lawns everywhere. No PC signs anywhere except on public land. It’s very strange, although there are of course many government-employed types including school board and health system union types embedded here among productive working people. This riding will go PC regardless of signage, as the PC incumbent here last time got more than 60% of the the vote.
