In important ways, Carlson is extending Orwell’s famous maxim that “during times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.” And as others — including very recently myself — have done, he’s putting to words and voice his refusal to surrender to those very “new new things, poisonous things, silly things” that we’re being told, without hesitation, that we must and will conform to.

People like Goldstein should put a lid on the paranoia.
We should accept the facts here: Carlson and other Fox News pundits made strong claims about Dominion Voting without the evidence to back it up. That Carlson may be some fearless hero makes no difference if he gets careless and leaves Fox News open to lawsuits.
Right. Telling the truth is the problem. Although, maybe you should try it sometime instead of just repeating the commie narrative.
No, telling the truth is NOT the problem.
Making potentially defamatory claims without the backing of solid evidence — evidence you can bring into court should you get sued — is the problem.
So Trump should be able to sue for Billions regarding the false and defamatory statements by the media complex re Russia collision or any other host of outright lies, correct Marmot?
If you’re asking if Russiagate was vastly worse, well yes, it was.
The good news is that many of the perveyors of Russigate on CNN and MSNBC have stepped or been pushed aside since the Mueller report came out — most notably Jeffery Zucker and Rachel Maddow.
How legally actionable it was I don’t know, given that you can say almost anything you want about politicians and the U.S. courts don’t seem to care.
KM, quite right. It doesn’t matter what you believe to be true. It only matters what you can prove. This is particularly so when one is a public media figure. Tucker should have known better, as he’s a professional in the field.
Ward, of course he can sue. If he can prove it. You do understand how the justice system works and that little piece of trivia called “burden of proof”?
When the DOJ, courts and judges are corrupt and weaponized against their political opponents and when courts won’t grant plaintiffs “standing” and refuse to hear any evidence that does not mean there is no evidence. There is plenty of evidence if anyone is willing to listen to it. Roger Stone and Mike Flynn were railroaded. Trump was just indicted for a non crime. Jan. 6 prisoners were denied their rights. There is a guy being tried for a joke about Hillary’s voters. Yet you seem to be saying this has all been on the level because they say so and therefore it must be true. We’re being lied to and manipulated with great skill. Defamatory claims? It’s not defamatory if it’s true and it’s not true because they say it’s not. Right.
What a preposterous post.
I’m not saying anything about any of those things. I am saying that Carlson made claims (or allowed his guests to make claims) on his show that he could not back up with appropriate evidence.
Get a mirror. Preposterous according to you with nothing more than your claim. Yet Carlson is at fault for, according to you, making claims without evidence.
Bullsh*t you rodent.
Do grow up.
If you’re referring to dominion, Tucker actually was challenging that – he was one of the few at Fox who were.
So that’s not it.
Carlson didn’t really do much with Dominion. He’s pointed to other voting irregularities — and the changes in rules the Covid freakout allowed that extended deadlines, created more mail-in balloting that is far easier to corrupt, etc.
It’s not at all “paranoid” to notice what is happening before our eyes. The entire trans movement is built around Queer Theory, and Queer Theory informs much of the intellectual thinking within cultural Marxism.
Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get you.
Some of his guests were far more direct in their accusations against Dominion. And Fox News can be held liable for what guests say.
Then every station that had Fauci on should be sued out of existence right ?
Russian Collusions ?
Hunter Laptop being Russian disinformation.
Safe & Effective ?
I don’t think Carlson made those claims, he wasn’t really into all that stuff. And no-one else is saying that’s why he’s being let go either. It’s more likely the heritage foundation speech that he made the night before, on top of putting on actual anti-regime voices and ideas like those of Yarvin and Auron Macintyre and raw egg nationalist that he had on his show, rather than the recycled slop that fox news usually puts out.
Remember, Murdoch isn’t your friend, he’s just a demonic entity out to exploit the world for his and his friends own benefit. Carlson had woken up from that trance and had to be disposed of. Hopefully it will backfire and destroy the fox news containment operation that is keeping the right stupid and useless in the US.
From the clips I’ve seen, his guests made those claims.
But it amounts to the same thing. Fox News is still liable.
“Carlson and other Fox News pundits made strong claims about Dominion Voting without the evidence to back it up.“
We really have no idea what a trial would have revealed, do we?
Why should we choose Fox’s settlement as the reason he was fired? Or was he, like James O’Keefe, removed because he took down Pfizer?
What does the Fox say….. Comply. Obey.
Great to see Jeff Goldstein writing again. Protein Wisdom was an excellent site and JG was an early victim of what they did to Trump and what they are trying to do to Carlson. Silence him! The truth must never be spoken!
Let’s wait and see what Carlson has to say. I think there’s more to this story. I suspect Carlson will be using a different venue – but that’s pure speculation.
Looking back, one could almost think that TC knew he was on his way out, considering some of the topics he brought up recently on his show.
Revisiting the JFK assassination for instance, which has been the third rail of corporate media since the Warren Commission.
Business anchor Lou Dobbs was one of the first for dropping truth bombs.
How soon before Neil Oliver gets the boot also.
Maria Bartiromo the ‘ Money Honey ‘ may keep her job as long as she keeps her trap shut.
Murdoch was told by his keepers to get rid of Tucker probably due to his getting more closer over the target and his liability to the Fox Corp via the Dominion thing.
If Tucker does the Joe Rogan ‘ thang ‘ but on Rumble, he may gain even more followers.
Bartiromo is on the way out.
People keep repeating that Tucker was part of the Dominion thing. It needs to stop. He wasn’t.
Guys like Tucker and Glen Greenwald become MUCH more dangerous to the political goons when they are not shackled by their corporate masters.
By the way, I wonder if Fox hired that moron who thought it was a good idea to partner Bud Light up with that guy who acts like a preteen girl.
Andy Coyne: It is the end of an airhead. We shall not look upon his shite again.
Tucker Carlson is out at Fox News after Dominion lawsuit disclosures – The Washington Post
How far is your head up your ass to think this is the “end” of Carlson. Gawd you’re so clueless, Coyne.
Blockhead calling someone an airhead?
Actually, I would call Coyne a fathead. He is not very insightful. I seldom read his columns . . . though I used to. Ultimately I felt he was very superficial, often striving to be “clever”, rather than thoughtful. I do not think he is much interested in thoughtful dialogue.
Agreed. This shall make Carlson more powerful than Coyne can possibly imagine.
More seriously, Carlson has a massive audience and should have no problem finding a new venue.
Andrew Coyne kicked me off his site for saying that abortion is murder.
On the day after the 2015 federal election, the CBC removed my comment when I wrote: ”Already, I miss Stephen Harper.”
Coyne is a moron. ‘Nuff said.
Interesting interview with Tucker on his view of the media.
https://twitter.com/i/status/1650581149239119874
Goodbye Fox News. I only subscribed because of Tucker.
I’m betting that Fox is about to get a kick in the nuts a la Bud Light. Hopefully, people don’t merely stop watching but contact the fools and tell them so.
Dropped 1 billion in market cap. So yep.
It will be more once the advertisers realise Tucker was the only one with access to the valuable demographics.
Interesting that Fox is apparently going to pay Carlson his contract in full. Carlson signed a “multi year deal” – in 2021 – lets assume the old contract ended in 2021 and the extension was for 5 years – – Fox will have paid him for another year and a bit.
Its reported the deal was for 20 million per year. So for the bargain basement price of about 80 million – they get to shut Carlson up – and further validate the bogus payment to Dominion.
Well, it didn’t take Tucker long to find a new gig:
https://babylonbee.com/news/tucker-takes-new-role-on-the-view
Is it possible that firing Tucker was part of the settlement? Dominion backers may have wanted him gone. I think Dominion is backed by political forces. Obama got rid of the previous vote counting machines and pushed Dominion
I wondered why his release of the Jan 6 videos stopped. There’s more to this story than meets the eye.
Tucker was already huge.
Now he’s gonna be mega huge.
In fact, why don’t you throw your hat into the ring for the Republican Nomination… Tucker’s a shoe in. He now has his full credentials for the job. Lot nicer man than Trump, and understands the swamp. Unlike Trump, he shoots guns and kills birds. Yay!
He probably could get himself nominated and maybe even elected. I doubt he would be interested, though. It is not a job many people aspire to, and you have to wonder about those that do.
Scratch a scandal, ANY scandal, and find a new!
Free Rundo!
Thinking, Licht is looking at the options.
They wanna make money.
Carlson worked there before.
Tucker, Hannity and Ingram all got caught deliberately lying. Their internal emails exposed their lies. Dominion had Faux by the balls.
Faux settled on the court house steps. 800m ain’t chicken feed and no insurance policy will pay damages for a deliberate act.
Faux wanted to avoid putting the liers on the stand at any cost and 92yo Rupert Murdoch as well so they settled.
Tucker is an entertainer. Maybe he has a future as a standup comedian.
You have been reading too much of the “mainstream” spin. And by the way, Tucker, Hannity and Ingram are not journalists….they have opinion shows and they say so. All three of them allow many people to put forward their opinions…..it’s called free speech. Now go play with your toys.
Art
So lying is ok as long as it’s your ‘opinion’? It’s ok to damage a person or corporations reputation as long as it’s ‘opinion’?
Pick up your toys art. Maybe go to a site where logic isn’t required.
FOXsucks.
There is no longer any reason to watch this channel.
I don’t always agree with Tucker Carlson on many issues. Given his text and email histories it seems he didn’t actually believe a lot of what he was saying with all things 2020, Jan 6, etc. … but he said them anyway. Dominion got shafted by him and fox, no question. The Smartmatic settlement will dwarf Dominion.
The dominion case was never ruled on but the near $800 mil deal to avoid court is a de facto admission of guilt.
Rupert Murdoch bought MySpace for $580M and later sold it for $35M. True to form, when Tucker all but endorsed Democrat Bobby Kennedy Jr. for president the other day, Rupert moved decisively to protect the Fox brand.
On hearing the news, Andrew Coyne lost what little was left of his mind: “Spew hate, tell lies, shill for Putin…It is the end of an airhead. We shall not look upon his shite again.” Now we know what the guy from Shat Issue thinks. How the mighty have fallen.
1. Dershowitz says the defamation case should have gone to trial.
2. Abby Grossberg suit is still pending
3. Murdoch disliked Trump and disliked Carlson.
4. Carlson was airing the J 6th tapes.
5. He questioned unbridled Ukraine support.
5. Carlson endorsed JFK jr.
6. He was digging into Ray Epps
7. Carlson interviewed Trump after NY indictment.
8. Schumer says Carlson insights violence.
I see politics. $800 M easily washes back into Murdock’s hands if it even actually goes out.
(Dominion avoids the scrutiny of a trial AND continues to operate per usual)
$ 800 M Squirrel. This is about the controlled opposition (Fox) prepping for the next election. Carlson may well have quit.
Bartiromo (she’s the best) should leave now.
All sponsors should pull the ads.
There is no way in hell that this is about lawsuits and carelessness. This is about information control and trimming the truths deemed unfit for broadcast.
And Fox stock has taken almost a billion dollar hit. This is pure politics.
This Buds for you.
Tucker got 10 minutes notice before they showed him the door.
Sounds like they mutually agreed to part ways…
Even if Tucker Carlson were to have a podcast in his house, it would show his detractors that he is not down or out.
He was fired for questioning and criticizing the globalist narratives.
He was fired for being convincing on the subject.
