This increase – attributed to Covid-19 and an ageing population – is the biggest year-on-year jump since the 55.4 per cent (5835) spike in deaths following the 1918 flu pandemic.
Probably just a coincidence that NZ is one of the most vaxxed, and boosted Countries in the world.
We had a cruise there last December. As cases “rose” in NZ, we had the requisite warning from the ship in a CYA “please mask on shore, etc.”.
First guide we asked if he wanted us to wear one said “no, we’re all so tired of this BS”.
It was a good 12 days, only people we saw wearing masks were the odd tourist. Very odd…
And notice how the media is hiding the truth……the COVID infection rate in New Zealand absolutely EXPLODED as did the death rate after Dec 31, 2021 when the country was about 80% “fully vaccinated”….in checking the data at Worldometer on February 15, 2023 this is the situation.

However, as the virus spread more widely in New Zealand in 2022 with the arrival of Omicron, Covid-19 deaths increased, with just under 2400 fatalities attributed to the virus last year.
Omicron for the unvaxed was at worst a bad cold.
Excess deaths from climate change.. Or sitting down too much or standing up too much?.. Or listening to government Covid 19 health recommendations?.. One thing is for sure the mRNA return desk is awfully quiet..
