3. Just finished hearing Tom O’Neil’s book Chaos, a pretty in depth view of the Manson murders and Hollywood in general. Ugh! One of those where you feel you need to take a shower after.
   Prior to the murders Polanski’s house was a den of drugs, orgies, stds, the whole nine yards and frequented by Hollywood A listers and musician types like the Fondas, Candace Bergen, Dennis Hopper, Nicholson, Mama Cass, Tom Melford (Doris Day’s son who owned the house before Polanski) just to name a few, not to mention Charlie Manson himself who hung around with them and supplied drugs and girls for their events, all that despite his creepy assed behaviour. Neil Young thought so much of him he gifted him a brand new motorcycle. What a swell guy!
   The murders took place in early August and Manson was arrested in October and that was by chance as the police raid on the Spahn ranch were looking for stolen vehicles.
   Everyone in Hollywood knew Manson was involved right from the start but didn’t say one damned word to police. Not a one. The CIA has a lot to answer for as well…but that’s another story.
   And why they all declined to be interviewed by O’Neill when he called.
   Degenerates, the whole lot of them.
