“The students would be far better off taking a field trip up to a reserve with no running water and in despicable conditions to learn the truth of how successive governments have let them down.”

Hand ’em all a shovel & they can help excavate all those “mass graves”…

    1. It’s not how successive governments have let them down… Last time I checked they still had agency, and the ability to make choices, all government does is makes the bad choices hurt less, for a while

      1. Until Harper made some truly excellent reforms, these reserves didn’t have the autonomy to develop a business ie they had to get approval from Indian Affairs. They really didn’t have agency at least at that level. Now things are changing.

  2. The Skool Board Dickheads should be required to read Tomson Highway’s memoir, Permanent Astonishment.
His time in skool is the antithesis of the popular Indian narrative these days that Indian kids were all beaten and abused.
But there now seems to be no reconciliation with the truth in this frozen shithole.

    1. Yes, the Indian industry is doing its best to gaslight us. The Truth and Reconciliation Report ignored/rejected any testimony from indigenous that had benign or good experiences in the residential school system. I accept that some bad things happened to children in the residential school system and those abused should get compensation but the original intention for the system were not evil. And it is not as if similar things did not happen to non-indiginous young peoples in government sponsored systems such as Mount Cachel. Orwellian manipulation of history is not conducive to “reconciliation”.

  3. Global Warming Scam news

One of the most common accusations against climate change skeptics is that they are in the pocket of “big oil” and other corporations. These claims are often made without evidence and are used as a smear tactic to imply that climate skeptics receive dirty money.

In episode 50 of Climate Change Roundtable, Anthony Watts, Sterling Burnett, and Linnea Lueken will explore the issues surrounding climate funding and why there is a disparity between reality and perception in the climate funding world.

    1. Turns out most of the private “action against climate change” money comes from folks whose families made their pile in oil many years ago (eg., Rockefellers, Gore, Etc.) or from folks who are currently doing so (eg., Tom Steier, Jerry Brown, etc.); the latter really just trying to hamstring their rivals.

  4. “Blacks and gays to ride bikes”

“On Friday, the Trudeau Liberals announced that Canada would be spending nearly half a million dollars to fund a program aimed at encouraging members of various minority groups to ride bikes.”

So the Trudeau government is going to pay minorities to act white?

    LMAO!!

    1. @Rusty S – That article caught my attention, too.

In the article, it mentioned some funding was to support a program called HopOn. “HopOn is a program that teaches children across the country how to ride safely.”

While living in the Los Angeles area of CA for 3 years back in the ’70s, my daily mode of transportation was a bicycle. I found that the only way to stay absolutely safe on a bicycle is to ride where there are no cars. When cars and bikes wind up in the same place at the same time, the car always wins. You can ride as safely and mistake-free as possible, but you can’t control the other side of the equation, cars, which can kill or cripple a bicyclist** when the driver makes a mistake, drunk or sober.

Bike lanes help, but they offer no protection against a drunk or distracted or impatient driver.

Ah, but there is hope for bicyclists everywhere. When all personal vehicles are eliminated, which is obviously the plan for our glorious utopian future, bicyclists will only have to watch out for the occasional flaming electric bus on the side of the road.

**Motorcyclists have the same problem. “I never saw the guy, officer. He came out of nowhere!” Yeah… right…

      1. Precisely why I have loud pipes. Years ago, when I first sewed the patch, “Loud Pipes Save Lives”, on my vest, I thought it was a nice, glib, up-yours to the masses. After 40+ years of riding, I can’t honestly say if they save lives or not, but at least they hear me coming. You can see them looking in their mirrors and over their shoulders. Whatever it takes to make them more aware of your presence.

    1. Jane, you ignorant slut. D’ya wanna improve the “environment” for the poor BIPOC’s ? Invite them ALL to move in to YOUR neighborhood(s)… where your mansion(s) are located. Not a lot of “noxious” power plants or refineries located in YOUR neighborhood(s). Not a lot of diesel truck traffic in YOUR neighborhood(s). So just buy alllllllll the poor people in the world upscale properties like yours. Oh! And include a team of servants (paid slave wages) like you enjoy.

  5. Re FangFang balloon, Pentagon may be reluctant to shut it down because of this:
“High-altitude balloons, such as the one China has floated over mountain state military bases this week, are considered a key “delivery platform” for secret nuclear strikes on America’s electric grid, according to intelligence officials.
Spy balloons, used by Japan to drop bombs during World War II, are now far more sophisticated, can fly at up to 200,000 feet, evade detection, and can carry a small nuclear bomb that, if exploded in the atmosphere, would shut down the grid and wipe out electronics in a many-state-wide area.”
This fragment above is apparently from Washington Examiner, Paul Bedard, Feb 3rd.
Don’t know if the above is true or not in this case (maybe next one?) but for sure that thing is not a weather balloon. In this day and age when a country like China has many weather satellites on orbit, why would you use a “weather balloon”? and size of 3 buses? and surprise-surprise/coincidence I know – flying over US nuclear silos?

    1. How about this: Has anyone noticed that Ukraine and the ‘Laptop From Hell’ have disappeared from the news since the balloons were spotted?

Perhaps China is just doing pResident Biden a favor by providing a distraction. (They wanted to make the balloons in the shape of a squirrel, but that idea was nixed as “too obvious.”) After all, buying a VP or President isn’t cheap, and the Chinese may want to make sure their investment remains in office for the full term.

  6. It’s a win-win for FangFang.
It’s a great spy platform. Or are they releasing the next virus variant?
If the Americans shoot down the balloons, the Chinese can retaliate by knocking US satellites out of orbit.

    1. Once it’s over the Atlantic, if the US doesn’t shoot it down, I suspect there is a Chinese ship somewhere offshore, in international waters, to recover it.

      – When the shuttle Columbia blew apart over heavily populated east Texas, there were no casualties on the ground from the debris.
      – On 9-11, when AA 93 was hijacked, and crashed in Pennsylvania, there were no casualties on the ground, despite being much more densely populated than rural Montana.

The excuse of not bringing the balloon down in order to prevent ground casualties is pretty hollow.

The size of 3 buses? That is the balloon itself, probably 25 kgs of sheet mylar, (the same stuff metallic birthday balloons are made of), which would shred to small pieces during descent.

      1. I love ‘Fermi’ questions, where you try to get an answer to a problem based only on assumptions or approximations. Much like Fermi did when calculating the amount of uranium needed for the first atomic bombs.

Note all dimensions below are approximations.

So, we know that the balloon is ‘the size of three buses’.

If we assume a bus is 12 meters long, then the balloon will have a diameter of 36 meters.
The volume of the balloon would then be about 51,000 cubic metres.

Surface area would be about 6600 square metres.

If we assume the balloon is made of a fairly dense mylar, at 100 gms / square metre – thicker than the stuff kids ‘metallic’ balloons are made of, then the approx weight of the balloon itself would be around 660 kgs.

If we assume that it is helium being used for lift, lift capacity is about 1 kg per cubic meter.

Therefore, lift capacity would be about 51, 000 kgs, or 51 metric tons. Subtract the weight of the balloon material itself, and the item to be lifted would be a maximum weight of 50 metric tons.

The empty weight of a space shuttle is about 78 metric tons.

Note these rough calculations do not take into account things that effect those figures, like changing temperatures, elevation or leakage of the balloon.

I’m not an engineer, just a curious guy with time on my hands.

  7. Trudeau Liberals award $450,000 for Indigenous, LGBTQ+ communities to ride bikes..
    ————
That sounds a awful lot like work.. Maybe Trudeau can level all the intolerant hills that will undoubtedly get in their way..
IMO groups that have grown accustomed to a free ride will take your exercise contraptions and regift them to their children, nieces and nephews ASAP.. Thanks big spender 🙁 and hold out for a offering that requires less work.. Something more fitting to their status as better than us all..

    What do I know?..

  8. Linebacker ‘Trans’ Dude Demands Right to Chemically Castrate His Two ‘Trans’ Kids

The sliding scale of parental decisions goes from zero to one hundred.. No magic bullet or court ordered solutions exist when the garden shed will suffice.. We call them out into the light and are alarmed by what we see?.. Expectations?..

I’m grateful that I won the parent lottery.. As imperfect as we all are the smell of gasoline and rotting grass is not erotic to me..
Would it be wrong to thank mom and dad for that?.. Yaa I think it would be..

  9. Only 10 people standing with Greta in Stockholm. The Swedes had the best response to the Covid mania and hopefully they are leading the charge on the climate nonsense too.
