Liberals, “hold my beer”.
Globe and Mail- Liberals withdraw controversial amendments to gun law
Bill C-21 initially targeted handguns but in late-stage amendments the Liberals expanded the law to also target assault-style rifles.
The changes had the rare impact of uniting all opposition parties against the law. Until the proposed changes, both the NDP and Bloc Québécois had supported the bill. The Assembly of First Nations also unanimously opposed the amendments, which would criminalize guns that First Nations people commonly use for hunting.

So what about the infamous OIC bans? Still in place? Of course. And it now appears entirely reasonable to ban all handguns by comparison to these lunatic amendments? This is all show.
Fckn A.
People need to start just plain refusing to comy with Ottawa and the Provinces crazy BS. They are all turning Canada into a prison. Canada has over 500,000 pages of laws, rules and regulaions. Just refuse. And go to all local municipal councils and raise hell. Quit bending over
I read an interesting article on American Greatness recently titled ‘Steel Yourselves, Conservatives’. The premise was that, for a variety of reasons that also apply to Canada, a truly conservative government is unlikely to ever be elected again. That did not mean that resistance at every turn was futile. They suggested adopting the attitude, when faced with unreasonable edicts, of “come and make me” !
Absolutely. It was always the plan.
On the other hand, it’s revealing to see what it finally takes for the commies, separatists & Indians to say, “No”.
At this stage I’m trying to decide which is worse, this or Bill C-11 which is just as odious.
Canadian Senate: “Sober reflection”. Oh, sure.
Bill C-11.
Here’s how to help keep up the pressure:

You do realize that this was the plan. The handgun ban now passes without a whimper. Don’t you know, the Liberals listen! SIC
I’ll take whatever tiny victories I can, Concerned.
I had 3 rifles that were declared “verboten”. Now I only have one, and I may take that one to the range anyway. Most of the time, I have the place to myself.
You are totally underestimating them. I remember when they promised it was only a possession certificate and anyone who thought it would lead to more was considered to be a conspiracy nut. This is their standard MO. Bring on a dictate that is ridiculous and back off and obtain the result they were aiming at. Do you really believe they intend to shut down 85% of the electrical generation in Saskatchewan by 2035 with no plan? I would suggest you tip your Canoe next summer.
Agreed concerned, I have an extensive handgun collection that will be confiscated when I die. Big$ value, that I can’t sell or pass to my kids. Once they make me a criminal, I guess I can then ignore all their effing rules.
I won’t be the only one!
Was this simply a distraction so no one noticed Bill C-11 was passing through the house and now the senate? Bill C-11 is the bill to limit what Canadians can access on the internet. The senate passed third reading on the bill yesterday. Have we been had?
My thought as well.
C-11 was going through anyway, Jughead was on board.
They can remove my VPN from my cold dead hands (or hard drive).
Yes, yes we have.
Guns are an easy target – heh – for Toronto Karens & Montreal Jean Guys, Homos, Cowards and Commies alike.
This is really about private property and if the government gets to decide what you can and can’t own.
Think internal combustion engine products FFS.
Think air conditioning.
Think gas appliances.
Think single detached homes.
Jesus wept, Canadians are as stupid as wild rocks.
@ Buddy,
Not to mention your children’s education/ indoctrination, including of course your health care, financial independence, retirement, and end of life decisions.
Sounds a little like an 1830 Louisiana plantation lifestyle with a modern virtual twist.
They didn’t remove the whole bill, so it’s still an issue, along with the removal of all mandatory minimums for gun crimes (which were dropped by the crown in at least 39% of all cases anyway)
For Christ sake celebrate a small victory when we get one,it’s not a distraction or f-all else.Give the people that carried the ball on this win some credit instead of bitching and wining they did something about it
Its not a victory.
Its a lesser loss.
And its only temporary.
The Prime Fertilizer said he wasn’t going to bring the gun registry back.
Now we know why.
Who needs a registry of single shot .22’s?
Cheering about not being dead when you’ve been shackled and enslaved is just what they want you to do.
Rex – oldest con game in the world – bait and switch. I believe I commented here when they first introduced the amendments this was the plan. Not that they wouldn’t have done if allowed.
Probably why Blackie is taking a long weekend off.
Yes your right would be better to have them continue on and seize our hunting rifles.I stand corrected
Rex – not what I said at all. However, that is their intention and now they are one step closer. They won their handgun ban and convinced people they actually responded to their concerns. Or did I miss that they aren’t continuing with the original legislation which should be the fight ,sans the ridiculous amendments? If you beat the guy in front of you and the one behind clubs you over the head , do you consider that a win?
You are not wrong, but again, with all due respect, I just think its a temporary reprieve.
Its 2023 Liberals, not 1993 Liberals.
Wait till they start taxing ammunition like cigarettes.
Buddy – I agree totally.
Maybe next banning ammunition like 5.56 and .223 as well as the reloading products required. The list will just be smaller next time going after the big scary Black ” assault Rifles “. Then the next time any other rifle with a magazine, and after that any that hold over 1 bullet. I am glad for the small victory as I have 3 that were going to be ” super Illegal “. I know the fight is not over.
Rachel Dancho, Conservative MP:
“We fully believe that Trudeau will ultimately continue to attempt to ban hunting rifles in Canada,” she said.
“This is a temporary pause, and hunters should be made aware that the Trudeau Liberals will continue to come after their hunting rifles.
Ohhhhhhhh Mommmmmaaaaa … what about the “Ghost Guns”?
Trudeau just tried to do too much at one time. Those deleted parts will be back in time.
Jordan Peterson tells Joe Rogan how tyranny happens ‘one tiny step at a time’

You cannot un-invent something! Years ago, when all we needed were FAC’s (firearms aquisition Certificates) I heard of a story of a middle aged guy walking into a police/ RCMP station, and laid a handgun on the counter and said to the cop who was engaging with him, “I’d like to register this gun please”. The cop looked at it and sneered, “where did you get that?” The guy said, “I made it, I’m a machinist” The cop said, “you can’t do that, and I’m confiscating it”. So the machinist guy said, “Ok, I’ll just go home and make another one, but I won’t come back here with it”.
They registered the gun.
Life was simple then. Every time the government puts it’s slimy hands on something, it always turns to crap!
In real life they would have raided his place and confiscated his gun-making equipment.
So the machinist guy said, “Ok, I’ll just go home and make another one, but I won’t come back here with it”.
Shinzo Abe’s assassin fired a shot heard around the whirled.
I had a hand gun when was young, back in the late ’60s to early ’70s before the country went gun-paranoid. Saw it in a store display and bought it on impulse. Legally registered, no problem. When I moved to another town, I took the registration in to the new local police station and had my address changed. No problem. Moved again, no problem. Moved again, this time the cop doing the change of address told me I should have gotten a permit to move it to the new address, but no problem, just remember next time. Nobody really cared, they knew the registration was a load of BS.
Try doing that today and you’ll be charged, have the gun seized and likely get a 10 year firearms prohibition.
You’d be surprised how popular guns are amongst millenials. I’m tempted to call my cohort ‘generation gun’. They aren’t gun nuts but a my generation likes them and does not like thinly-veiled campaigns against scapegoats.
