What’s not to like about providing financial incentives to arrive at a particular conclusion? What could possibly go wrong? I have to disagree with the authors on one point: there’s nothing “well-intended” about any of this.
This well-intended gesture has created a strong incentive to conflate dying from COVID-19 with passing incidentally while infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
One reason is the added incentive for hospitals to screen nearly every hospitalized patient for COVID, no matter what the underlying diagnosis, whether it is a broken tibia or a gallstone, even for patients with no COVID-like symptoms. Sec. 3710 of the CARES Act stipulates when a Medicare patient tests positive for COVID-19, the facility receives a 20 percent add-on reimbursement as long as there is a National Emergency.
And they continue to renew the “emergency”, even today.
My sister supervises my father’s care in a nursing home that is within a few hours drive of her home. Last week she informed me that he had tested positive for Covid. In response to that news I asked her if he was sick. She didn’t understand the question and responded that “He has Covid.” I persisted and again asked her, “Is he sick.? Does he have any symptoms?”
She remains confused and insists that he is sick, because he tested positive for Covid.
He is experiencing a higher than usual level of fatigue, but at the age of 93 I don’t find that very alarming.
I have to give the old man a lot of credit for maintaining his sense of humor. One of his favorite lines is, “Used to be just old people dying. Now its people my age.”

We too had a family member pass “from” covid, being 87, broken hip, and advanced dementia had nothing to do with her death nope nope nope
One of the first people in my province to die “of Covid” family was a friend of one of my relatives. She told me that the older lady, who was in a personal care home had terminal cancer and was in palliative care with only a few weeks left to live. She caught Covid and was marked as a Covid death. Big news. Just added to me scepticism about the whole issue.
And on the other side of the equation, my mother-in-law was in a LTC and failing….she received her second “safe and effective” COVID “vaccine” and about 10 days later had a stroke which she never recovered from. No thought at all that it may have been the “vaccine”….just natural…
The official COVID death rate is far too high and the official death rate from the “vaccine” is far too low.
Very sad and as you say we’ll never know how many, but I have heard many anecdotes like this. The irony is they broke society to supposedly save these vulnerable elderly people, and then they killed them.
Do the same with vaccine injuries.
Pay more to hospitals to treat anything that they can deem to be a vaccine injury.
It could even happen if class action lawsuits took hold.
I don’t think there is much doubt about what those numbers would look like if doctors and hospitals were paid to call everything a vaccine injury.
Same with the media.
Canadian media receive handouts from Trudeau as long as they can keep the covid panic boiling.

Covid 19 was real.. As real as any other flu.. The response to it was unreal.. Rather than target those most at risk they barn yarded all of us.. Put your mask on so we can sort our garbage with a clear conscious.. Even though it all ends up in the same place..
I didn’t get the shot and only wore a mask when I had too.. Yet I still feel like a chump.. Oh boy, I won the right to die from something else.. As if that matters 2 seconds after you are dead..

I don’t know if there is something like a blood test to see if a person has been vaxxed, but I believe they are able to tell in autopsy whether a person had Covid or a reaction to the vaccine because the vaxxed will only have the spike protein while the people with Covid will have the spike protein as well as signs of the other parts of the virus that are not in the vaccine.
This will stop being a big deal when there is no more money to be made from this.
“Covid” was never a serious problem, the reactions to it were.
Except for the folks who have been in a comatose sleep for the last three years or dead since December of 2019, no one should be surprised about this and, if fact, should have seen this coming from the beginning. Medical facilities in the US , either “for profit” or “non-profit” are always, ALWAYS looking for ways to extract revenue from the federal government and this one was an easy win, low-hanging fruit as it were.
