1. The difference is quite simple.
   Biden – Democrat – it’s all ok
   Trump – Republican – it’s a crime

2. In my perfect world every CBC CTV TorStar Global commentator is as thoughtful and concise as VDH.

      However, Democrats say that doesn’t matter. It’s OK when a Democrat does it; for example: Biden, Schiff, Swalwell etc.

4. I suspect that Presidents … and Vice Presidents … have selectively removed Classified documents they suspected might not be properly and securely stored by the National Archives ever since Sandy Berger stuffed incriminating documents into his socks and walked out.

   I blame the highly partisan, and incompetent, National Archives. The American People still don’t know the nature of the document stolen by Berger … and what embarrassing information it might have revealed about Bill Clinton. The American People deserve to know the nature of the document(s) stolen … if not the classified details.

7. What Hollywood has trained us to believe is that ‘Need to Know’ is something evil corporate and/or government types use to conduct unethical experiments on our heroes.

   Ever watched this scene in a movie?

   Hero – Tell me what is going on!
   Prick Government Type – That information is on a Need to Know basis.
   Hero – Well three people have been killed. I think we Need to Know!

   Or the variation:
   Hero – Well I outrank you, I am ordering you to tell me.

   Yeah… nah.

   In the real world you have a personal clearance level. This reflects how much ‘they’ believe they can trust you with information.

   You also have the Need to Know. Just cause you are trusted doesn’t mean you have a right to everything.

   For example you and your school friends have a plan to sneak out from your parent’s place and sit around in the park trying to be really edgy. It is important that everyone involved in the plan don’t tell their parents. Since everyone knows Bob is a goody two shoes he is not invited in on the plan. His ‘clearance level’ is not high enough.

   However Dave and Chris are not part of the group cause they are away on holidays. Do they Need To Know of the plan? No. They are not taking part and telling them in advance just adds to the risks one of the parents might overhear. They don’t Need to Know so they are not told.

   Need to Know is real. It runs parallel with your security clearance level.

   Just cause you are cleared to some high level DOES NOT MEAN you can have access to information. It can also be time sensitive. If you are no longer actively working on a project then you no longer NEED to have access. You can’t keep souvenirs.
