Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Dammit, Lady Kate!!! I had things to do, but now I’ve ‘asteroided’ Canberra (and taken out most of New South Wales in the kinetic strike)!!!
This is addictive, if a bit awkward to move around to a suitable target…
The site is down – for some reason it has been overwhelmed with asteroids impacting Ottawa.
I had mine hit Toronto. But it’s obvious a western NYS wouldn’t fair too well in that instance, either.
Nope.. not now.. Crater looks similar to an anus.. How telling… Tho I think foofoo is out of country.
Oh geez. A 1.2km asteroid made of iron travelling at 68km/s would devastate Canada if it hit Ottawa. Hope that never happens.
I hope it strikes Jamaica mon.
Diameter: 1 mile. Speed: 250 Thousand Miles per hour. Impact angle: 90 degrees. (direct hit)
Location: 1600 Pennsylvania avenue, Washington DC.
Result: 4 million people vaporized. Crater is 49 miles wide, 0.7 miles deep. Impact equivalent to 17 thousand Gigatons of TNT.
Impact took out all of Washington DC, and the crater extends almost all the way to Baltimore, and takes out a good chunk of Virginia, and possibly Pennsylvania as well (can’t tell on this map).
Only problem is that such an impact only happens once in 48 million years.
This is almost fun! Next: Parliament Hill.
‘scuse me… I hear someone knocking on my front door… (are those sirens I hear?)
Pro tip: Don’t answer the door.
It gets better! With my previous hit, the fireball is 104 miles wide, almost reaching Ottawa and Montreal, and vaporizing Toronto. It would kill almost 51 million people. Additionally, 9.5 million would receive 3rd degree burns, 11.3 million 2nd degree burns. Clothes would catch fire as far as 478 miles from ground zero. Trees would burn as far as 574 miles away.
The 248-decibel shock wave would reach as far as Lake Superior to the North West, the Gulf of St. Lawrence to the North East, and as far south as Florida and New Orleans. It would kill an additional 10.6 million people, and collapse buildings and homes within 934 miles.
Not done yet.
Peak wind speed would have been well over 12 thousand miles per hour, faster than the storms of Jupiter, within 209 miles of the impact. It would be like an EF5 tornado as far away as 611 miles, knocking down all trees within 1000 miles.
The impact would generate a 9.3 magnitude earthquake, which would kill nearly 300 thousand people, and would have been felt as far as 425 miles away.
All in all, a pretty decent-sized firecracker!
The internet was made for this. (perhaps an update will someday add sound effects, or perhaps “meteor storms”)
Brav-oh.
*NOT answering the door tonight at 4am.
I managed to get an iron asteroid that would take out D,C,, Philly, Baltimore, and NYC all without taking me with it.
Hey, I’m a newbie at this. I need to go land some in the Atlantic and see what the tsunami would do. Perhaps I could get Boston included on that list.
This is s-o-o-o-o wrong… and great fun!
I’m bookmarking this site.
So addictive.
Islamabad was goood.
I hit Mecca with a gold asteroid a mile in diameter at max velocity and dead straight in! I thought this ironic. It took out pretty well all of the Middle East, but it also hit Israel and some of the ancient Egyptian sites. Damn! I’ll have to scale things back a bit…
I also unfortunately took out most of the Koreas and some of Japan when I hit Beijing with a monstrous iron space rock.
Being a precise cruel alien overlord is darn tough!
Wow ! now the site needs to be upgraded to estimate tsunami effects
Yeah. I found out it doesn’t account for tsunamis when you land one in the ocean. *sigh* and I was trying for pretty much the northern half of the Eastern seaboard. No luck.
