      I would never concede this point because it’s not technically correct. They arrived before the European, but they are definitely not the first to arrive.

      As I understand the Asian migrations into the Americas, the “indigenous” we are blessed with are the latest of the latecomers, and the most violent. The very first migrants from Asia would be found in the most southern regions of South America. For thousands of years, the newer migrants would push the already established migrants southward.

      But things weren’t static even after the migrations ended with the big thaw. The Cree and Blackfoot were slaughtering each other as late as Anthony Henday’s HBC mission to the west.

      Why doesn’t someone start stirring the pot by calling for reparations for the inter-tribal violence and predations, and the forced marches of tribes southward. I’m sure there’s plenty of oral histories in addition to real evidence to support millennia of ethnic cleansing and genocide.

Racism: no mention of the discrimination posed to unilingual, Anglo, white males in all departments in Ottawa: “Whitey need not apply.” It is rampant in the federal civil service, the military and the RCMP. I wonder how many Canadians realize that our federal bureaucracy is run and controlled by French Canadians. They hold all of the important positions.

      That started with the Official Bilingualism policy decades ago. People knew when it rolled out that it meant non-French speakers would be frozen out of the elite political class and most of the bureaucracy.          1. Also need to take Yukon and NWT, and BC apart from Metro Vancouver and the Island. That way Prince Rupert or some such will be the Pacific port for the new country.             1. There is an argument to be made for restoring what was called British North America in the days of Upper Canada and taking this vast area to independence as a sovereign country. Upper Canada was Toronto, Ottawa, Niagara peninsula, etc. British North America was what’s left of modern Ontario after excluding the Upper Canada bit, and the western provinces and northern territories. I agree to carve out Vancouver and the metro area. Nothing worth salvaging there. Maybe Iqaluit isn’t worth taking along either. Taking much of Ontario would give the new country access to an international water way that leads to the Atlantic. This area of Ontario is resource rich and it’s almost zero population. Need to get the USA on side of course before any of this would be possible. Just like the American colonies needed military and political support from the French superpower in order to defeat the British army and mercenaries.

   1. I think I heard that Edmonton was budgeting $30M on clearing the snow from its bike lanes; this amount is half of the total snow removal budget.

      The people running the city of Mark Carney and Chrystia Freeland are insane. Furthermore, perhaps putting up a wall around the place would keep their crazy people from becoming governors of central banks and deputy prime ministers.
