Blacklocks “evicted” by the Trudeau press gallery.

Parliamentary Press Gallery executives accompanied by armed police on Friday evicted Blacklock’s. All questions were referred to a House of Commons employee. Blacklock’s said the eviction, first of its kind in the history of the National Press Building, was clear reprisal over its continued protests against media subsidies.

Eviction followed Gallery president Guillaume St-Pierre’s threat to “terminate” Blacklock’s membership. The eviction letter stated Blacklock’s managing editor Tom Korski was “impolite,” “disturbs the journalists around him” and “streams parliamentary committee hearings on his computer.”

The complaints were made by three reporters: Emilie Bergeron and Michel Saba of Canadian Press and freelancer Hélène Buzzetti, a former Gallery president. Fourteen other reporters assigned desks in the National Press Building did not sign the complaint.

“Failure to observe these prohibitions could result in further and potentially more serious sanctions including further and potentially permanent prohibitions,” wrote President St-Pierre, correspondent for the Journal de Montréal.

The Gallery refused to permit Blacklock’s to speak to the board of directors regarding reprisal complaints. “The executive did not invite oral representations,” said the eviction notice.

“We will now see the Press Gallery in court,” Blacklock’s shareholders said in a statement. “Our subsidized competitors met in secret, plotted punitive measures over petty grievances and served an eviction notice accompanied by armed police. Their conduct is outrageous.”

Blacklock’s is the only Press Gallery member eligible for federal subsidies that neither solicits nor accepts government funding. The eviction came one day after Blacklock’s published Access To Information records detailing a private meeting between 35 unnamed publishers and the Canada Revenue Agency on distribution of $595 million in subsidies.

      The danger to Canada is not Justin Trudeau, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with being Prime Minister. It will far easier to limit and undo the follies of a Trudeau government than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their Prime Minister.

      The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Trudeau, who is a mere symptom of what ails Canada. Blaming the prince of fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The country can survive a Trudeau, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools, such as those who made him their Prime Minister.

      1. J West – exactly the problem. A recent poll shows over 50% support the use of the emergency act and that jumps to near 70% if you include somewhat support it. I am not the sharpest tool in the shed, but Carlins profound observation comes to mind. If you look at the intelligence leve of average and realize 50% are below that, well it scares me.

        I visited Prague in 1990. There was a monument in Wenceslaus Square where activists had burned candles continuously from 1968, when the uprising was put down by the Soviets, until that date. It was a large mound of blackened wax. Young people were sitting in cafes drinking espresso and smoking those foul smelling European cigarettes talking about politics while Canadian young people were hanging out at the mall. Ironic that a former socialist state is now more deserving of democracy than Canada, but not at all surprising.

Evict the only independent journalist outlet for petty complaints to send a message to all of the other quisling outlets that this will be their fate if they complain or don’t toe the party line. I hope they sue and win, if I lived in that neck of the woods I’d be waving signs around asserting the gallery is beyond saving. We best start using our freedom of expression, it’s not going to be legal to protest in a couple of weeks thanks to the NDP and Liberals.

  10. I’ve been watching from a distance in the UK for many years now.
    CSA, gun registries, the Freedom Convoy, media subsidies and now Blacklock’s expulsion strongly suggest to me that Canada really is the canary in the coalmine for Western democracy and the canary just breathed its last.

      This concept has always been a joke.

      Canada was “mostly free” for a short while because of the accident of geography. The country had always been bigger than its governments. People were able to escape the notice and reach of their masters.

      Technocratic technology and unlimited government spending through fiat currency has enabled the ubiquity of government. There’s no stopping it or hiding from it.

      The turdeau government is the “perfection” of western democracy; to paraphrase the words of Mencken, a “downright moron” has occupied the seat of power, and the vast majority of inmates approves.

  14. When this was first brought to light, others in the press gallery having problems with Blacklocks, one of the issues was the Blacklocks reporters listened to proceedings only in English.
    Near them were French reporters, who were subjected to this on an ongoing basis.

    I think that’s what initiated this, and then to hear Blacklocks biting the hand which feeds them, well it was clearly more than the French could take. Something had to be done.

No surprise that the largest number of individuals come from CBC/Radio Canada. Other noteworthy totalitarian organizations that are members: ITAR-TASS (Putin’s personal representatives) and the communist party of Vietnam (Vietnam News Agency).

  17. I listen to Canada Talks on xm radio. It’s a collection of Toronto centric talking heads. They all have daily 1 or 2 hour shows. Only Dahlia Kurtz interviewed Tom Korski on a weekly basis – she’s no longer on the air. I’m not saying she was let go because she featured Blacklocks but not one of Canada Talks ‘stars’, Mansbridge, Arlene Bynon or Matt Gurney has touched Blacklocks.
