  1. “Leaving the scene of an accident without stopping and exchanging information is illegal. Still, for many human drivers, it may not be clear how to act in the event of a collision with a driverless car. With whom, for instance, should a human driver exchange information when there’s no one in the car they just struck?”

L – Canadians have the same dilemma, as our ship of state is captainless; but crashing serially
into icebergs. Who must we hold responsible? Only ourselves, if we are to remain a self
    governing nation-state.

  2. When the ship of state is adrift and crashing into icebergs, get yourself overboard on as big a liferaft as possible..
    Shall we call it Diagolon?
Our Parliament thinks this is real..

The “Self Driving Car”drives by Braille?

The link reads as if the automans are innocent and it is only evil “human Piloted” chariots can collide..

Maybe the proper way to “exchange information” with the “owner” of such a vehicle is via 12 gauge?
A few solid slugs fired into the engine block ought to communicate your displeasure and serve to immobilize the hazard.
Though some say the Magnum pistols can accomplish these same results.
The writer seems to miss an important point..If these toys were not blocking intersections and engaging in erratic moves..people would not crash into them..Then?
Just who do you “Share info with?”

  3. “These incidents come amid a steep decline in police enforcement of traffic violations over the past two years — and a corresponding increase in dangerous driving.”

Good to know that in Liberal Nirvana, everything is getting better and better each and every day, in each and every way.

If you want to know how gullible Coastal Elites are, then read the article at this link…republished in SF, from the NYT. Reaching to blame “Global Warming” for earthquakes…

  4. Given that 95% of accidents are caused by human error and autonomous vehicles will ultimately make cars safer, I guess a future with next to nothing auto insurance premiums wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibilities.
I’m being silly. They’ll find another grift.

    1. Thing is, bad software IS human error. The programmer just isn’t in the car when it crashes.

    2. The “human error” troupe is a red herring used by poor incident analysis and subjective judgment. I recommend the works of Hollnagel.

  5. Driving in SF has gotten so dangerous that I never go there anymore. The WORST are the Red Light Runners … forget autonomous cars … let ‘em hit empty cars all they want … but the number of families and pedestrians slaughtered is a REAL problem … back here in the REAL world.
