It’s not just that government is too big, it’s that it has swollen to immerse itself into every aspect of human thought and action. Bureaucrats pretending to be working for increasingly disinterested politicians (next election or appointment takes precedence) do their thing in an environment where there are no consequences for failure or sloth, aside from the fact that 90% or their activities shouldn’t be in the government’s purview.
