Those of you who visit regularly will no doubt have noticed the increasing episodes of downtime when the blog has been unreachable.
The host company is currently working at the long-promised migration to a more robust server. It’s not easy, it’s a large move. So if you encounter difficulty reaching the site over the next day or two, that’s why. If they have problems that result in a prolonged outage, I’ll keep you updated as best I’m able via my Twitter feed, @katewerk.
Thanks to everyone for your patience, I know it’s been frustrating for us all.

Thank goodness for your blog! A digital outpost of sanity in an increasingly mad world.
Indeed. We all love, adore, and will support Kate against all comers … meh. a little downtime … I’ll get over it
Tonight I learned 2 things I didn’t know:
(1) Charles Adler is alive;
(2) His twitter feed is more pathetic than even I could have imagined.
And for him being Hungarian , who’s father escaped in ’56 , I find that incredibly surprising.
You’d think he would know better.
Did Adler’s family escape? Or were they planted?
Based upon Charles Adler’s recent deeds, I think the latter may be correct.
Thank you for the update.
Worth waiting for Kate. It has been my home page for many years.
Worth the wait!
We check SDA and Ezra’s twitter many times a day.
Thanks for a great blog!
How about correcting censoring of comments from abiding friends while you are at it?
It’s possible that with the current technical difficulties, some comments may have disappeared. It happened to me as well. As upsetting as that would be to the author of the comment, I wouldn’t blame the blog host for these malfunctions. I hope that’s not what you’re doing.
Those illiterate trolls are out of control. Fenris knows how to keep them in line. Make him comments manager.
After many, many years of reading here – and occasionally commenting, and occasionally commenting off topic and with nonsensical gibberish – I just want to thank Kate and everyone else who makes this site happen. You’ve meant a lot to me over the years – thank you.
L – “migration to a more robust server”
The last time I had a robust server was at Hooters.
Yup, frustrating at times, but any inconvenience is worth the wait.
My ‘Go To’ dest numerous times a day. Thanks Kate, you da best!
Thanks for keeping your many online admirers sane through insane times.

Thanks for all the hard work, Kate and everyone. The wait is worth it for the best damned page on the net.
The advent of “the cloud” and highly abstracted virtual servers have virtually eliminated this kind of 2005-era sysadminning.
Since the tradeoff is giving control over your server to Communist assclowns who hate you, it seems like it’s not worth it.
I do wonder about the feasibility of running the blog and its database on top of a single rented server using k3s and longhorn.
