On Tuesday, a knifeman is alleged to have entered the premises of Global News Toronto. Allegedly, the knifeman is or was a Global employee. The rest of the story remains murky, although we do know several police cruisers and a paramedic rushed to the scene.
So, what, pray tell, happened? And why is there no news coverage? After all, the age-old saying in the news biz is, “if it bleeds it leads.” But apparently not at Global News. Especially if an insider was the alleged attacker.
The Toronto Police Service confirms there was an incident but, oddly, no charges were laid. Other than that, no comment.

I am shocked and made speechless at the insensitivity on display here. Some poor person, crushed by capitalism, decides to act out a childhood memory with a paring knife and his video editor’s adams apple. Since they were not white, no news coverage; since they were not white, we should be raising money for a fruit basket to send to the hospital in hopes of speedy recovery and return to work.
Another good reason to suppress the truth getting out about this is copy cat crimes. Nobody wants crazed knife attacks on journalists in their offices when they are sitting with backs to the door, or in those few bars they go to, where they feel safe, or creeping in through the open back door to get them in their sleep. I demand social justice! Our needle exchange program should include glue and solvents, too.
