  1. I remember the ads for Bedazzled when they ran in newspapers more than 50 years ago. Of course, Raquel Welch’s picture caught my attention.

    I’m assuming that it was more for marketing purposes because being a British film, the cast had few names that North American audiences would recognize aside from, maybe, Peter Cook and Dudley Moore. Perhaps the only reason they would have been known on this side of the pond at that time was because they were part of the comedy troupe Beyond the Fringe.

    It’s an interesting twist to the Faust legend.

    2. Hey B, got one for you. Trespass 1992. The film is the opposite to Invasion USA, minimal set, decent cast but without any A listers. simple somewhat predictable plot that makes sense, good story

      Also note the first few scenes seem very grainy, that’s on purpose the quality is good afterwards.

      1. Added to my “round tuit” list. I notice the cast includes Bill Paxton (who, by the time the movie was made, had become well-known, partly through his role in Aliens) and William Sadler (the chief baddie in Die Harder).

        I’ve posted links to a number of spaghetti westerns, mentioning the names of a number of American actors who were in them. You can add James Coburn, Telly Savalas, and Rod Steiger to that list.

        Coburn plays a disgraced Union Army officer near the end of the American Civil War who seeks to redeem himself by taking back the fort he surrendered to a Confederate commander (Savalas). He recruits a number of convicts for that task. The movie includes lots of bang-bang and ka-boom.

        The plot probably sounds familiar, borrowing elements from The Dirty Dozen (with TS in the cast) and the earlier Major Dundee (JC playing an Army scout).

        It’s directed by Sergio Leone with music by Ennio Morricone. Steiger plays a Mexican bandit who becomes a revolutionary (by accident, as I recall) and he crosses paths with an IRA bomber (Coburn). The two join up and, naturally, there’s lots of shooting and explosions. How Coburn’s character got to be in Mexico is told through a series of flashbacks, much like Leone did in Once Upon a Time in the West.

        This one was a TCM Summer Under the Stars offering 2 or 3 years ago. It’s the better of the two, but it runs over 2-1/2 hours.

          1. I remember the ads for it and wondering what it was about. I don’t recall it being as popular as Leone’s Dollars trilogy and that could be for a number of reasons.

            One was that it was released when interest in western movies was declining, particularly after the controversy over movies such The Wild Bunch. Another was that its title (which was a line spoken by Coburn’s character early in the film) might have led people to think it was a comedy.

            I might have to take another look at it some time.

  4. Dr Francis Christian was a Clinical Professor of Surgery at the U of Sask. in Saskatoon until he was fired for strongly speaking out over vaccines for children. Now he’s suing. Viva and Barnes had him and his lawyer on to discuss everything Covid related. This is not only a must watch but a must SHARE, especially to those in your life that have children or grandchildren. This is a serious subject. People need to go to JAIL.

    1. I remember the story. Glad to get an update. The good Dr.’s ” crime” as I recall was notifying other doctors with the basic message that parents need to be better informed about the vaccinations. ” No thinking for yourself,” is the new rule in the medical profession.

  14. I keep seeing stories about naming the latest disease emergency Monkey Pox is somehow racist. Maybe we should rename to something more descriptive, and more Western Oriented, since this disease was not a problem until it reached Western Europe and America?

    May I suggest a name that is both likely to “Go Viral” and descriptive of its primary method of spread:

    ORGY POX
