There is another twist that isn’t being addressed here and it’s the question of jobs in Quebek. Siemens Canada located in Montreal is repairing the 6 turbines. Siemens is a Montreal company that regularly receives federal cash (think Bombardier). The jobs are high tech and high paying AND most important of all in Quebek. Say no more.
Siemens is German. They have plants all over the place.

In this case, the Turd interfered with a German company contracted to build equipment for a Russian energy company, equipment that is vital to Germany’s energy security, and the Turd was promptly taken to the woodshed by the Germans, as he should have been.
Also, its SOP to provide companies with incentives to put operations in a given place, and the company’s decision as to where to locate is often dictated by these incentives. Quebec is pretty good at that, as they can provide an incentive that no-one else in Canada can provide: A bilingual workforce, which comes in handy when dealing with European companies.
Not only that but Quebec can offer some of the cheapest cost for electricity rates on planet earth

I’ll bet it never occurred to him that his sanctions would implicate Siemens or any company in particular. More disturbing than the issue with Siemens are the sanctions and confiscation of private property in Canada owned by Russian citizens who have committed no crime against this country. No matter which side you are on in the war what Canada is doing to Russian property owners should raise the alarm bells. Today it’s an easy target – Russians. Tomorrow it’s you and me.
Not wishing to put too fine a point on it but I’m guessing the patois spoken in quebek wouldn’t be a factor in any decision a foreign company would consider in moving an operation to Canada.

I suspect very few of those already admitted under the program have been genuinely helping Canadian or other civilized forces. And those who did help, have probably been taken care off first. The rest? They’re just freeriding on the program, like they have been freeriding on all western program over the last decade (recall coalition forces paying huge compensation to all victims of friendly fire and Afghans killing their own neighbors, claiming neighbors were family and demanding money… and that has been repeatedly paid).
Sorry, what do they contribute? What are their skills? Stoning, head chopping, clitorectomy, sodomy of prepubescent boys, goat abuse? Are we experiencing a shortage of those skills?
