    1. Don’t forget the HoC unanimously voted to approve Jughead’s motion declaring the Proud Boys a terrorist organisation shortly afterwards. A mistake that I let my “conservative” MP know I was not going to ever forgive him for.

    1. By the way, the narrator, actor Robert Taylor, could speak with authority as he served in the USN as an aviation instructor.

    2. She was of course the second US carrier that carried that name. The first was the famous CV-5 that was damaged at Coral Sea, got hastily pathed up then lost at Midway. Her aircraft however played a vital role in that battle.

      1. Yorktown CV-5 returned to Pearl Harbour after Coral Sea, but was quickly put to sea for Midway. It set sail with repair crews on board. It was a fairly new ship, being commissioned in 1937.

The Yorktown of the documentary (CV-10) was finished in 1943 and saw service not just in the Korean War, but also for Viet Nam at Yankee Station.

    3. joe biden’s Navy. My how things have changed.

The Navy announced Sunday that a F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet was blown off the deck of the USS Harry S. Truman into Mediterranean Sea on Friday due to “unexpected heavy weather” during a replenishment-at-sea. The Navy is considering a salvage operation to retrieve the lost jet

      1. “Considering” a salvage operation?

Perhaps the USN doesn’t care, because, maybe, the Chinese already know everything about that model of plane.

On the other hand, the aircraft may be located too deep to make any recovery worth the effort.

      2. Funny that they left what..?? 80 Billion in Afghanistan..?

When’s that “salvage operation” supposed to start.??

  1. “You’ll love your new electric vehicle,” they said.
“You’ll never have to pay for high-priced gasoline again,” they said.

“Plugging in to Petro-Canada’s Electric Highway just got a lot more expensive in Quebec, as EV charging fees in the province have recently increased by 125%.”

“Tesla has also recently adjusted their Supercharger fees in Canada, implementing a four-tier fee structure to better account for the differences in charging speeds between Urban, V2, and V3 Superchargers… the changes still result in an overall cost increase for Supercharging sessions.”

Who knew that high energy prices affected every part of the economy?????

    1. I wonder just what brilliant minds thought that electricity would be cheaper than gas?

        1. Green liberal left wing nut logic. I do not know when or how my fellow Canadians became so stupid but I am reasonably confident they were not that dumb before the 1960s, some were but most were fairly rational, sane , and reasonably intelligent. It is amazing how effective decades of propaganda have been. The “covid” insanity has shown me that we will not get back to sanity anytime soon. There is far worse to come as the people are just too dumb to live.

      1. fc

PRECISELY. One would have to have lived in a Cave with ZERO coms with Civilization to NOT Understand that as soon as the # of EV’s increase so too would pricing…and it will continue to rise.

        F’ing OBVIOUSLY….no??

        1. Even the free charging promotion for new Tesla owners wasn’t going to go on forever.

          1. Considering the direction leftards are taking western civilization with ineffective ‘green energies’, in about 10 yrs it will probably cost about as much to charge an EV as it does to fill a gas vehicle, today.

    2. The next step will be the requirement to install a separate power meter for the home charging station. That way the government can add “road” tax to the power consumed.

      Kate

I’ve linked these in line with suggesting that we need another satirical slogan along the lines of your “Safe and Effective registered trade mark” one

Maybe something like “Verified and Validated” which comes from back in BC* in the modelling world and if that works go with it

(*Not that BC on your left coast)

Enough on that theme for now

    1. The bigger question IMO is what do you do with Sri Lanka? It produces almost nothing and relies on tourism plus international lending to keep the country going. A bit of tea leaf exports. It imports all its energy and much of its food.

The IMF has talked about lending more money to Sri Lanka if it commits to meaningful reforms. But what kind of reforms would be meaningful? It is an island of 26 million people that does nothing.

      1. A bit of tea leaf exports.

Even that appears to have been curtailed.

I used to drink a black Ceylon tea (that was the name on the label) which was packaged as a foil brick. I could buy it at Save-On Foods but, for the past 2 years, it was no longer on the shelves. When I asked about it, nobody seemed to know why, though one plausible reason that was given was supply disruption, thanks in part to the phony plague.

I haven’t seen it since then and it appears that SOF now stocks Yorkshire Tea in its place.

It wasn’t until I heard about the collapse of the Sri Lankan agricultural industry, a result of that government’s idiotic policies, that what happened to the aforementioned tea made sense. It’s no longer available here in Canada because there might not have been enough produced, if it still is, for export.

    1. How the hell do these “people” with IQ’s in the negative double digits survive day-to-day?

      1. oh my God.

Mike, I mirror your thoughts on this.

Girls names for cows is a representation of Misogyny eh.??
That beyond fkd up kinda thinking…precisely in the Realm of what our Schools are teaching no.??

  2. Today’s celebration of BIPOC diversity in Toronto:

“An arrest has been made in a sexual assault investigation .

Two girls aged 12 and 13 were allegedly sexually assaulted on June 24 in a store in the Weston Road and Jane Street area.

Police have now charged Rufus Folkes, 43, of Toronto with two counts of sexual interference.”

According to a Toronto Police press release issued in 2012, Folkes was previously arrested for alleged child abduction in the King West and Cowan Avenue area.”

  3. A new entrant to the diversity is our strength line-up in Toronto, an apparent Buddhist monk, Tenzin Norbu:

“Toronto police say a man who allegedly set a woman on fire at the TTC’s Kipling subway station in June is now facing an upgraded charge of first-degree murder after the 28-year-old caregiver died days ago.

On June 17, investigators say a man doused a woman with a flammable liquid substance on a TTC bus and lit her on fire. Police say a man was arrested at the scene and the woman was rushed to a hospital.

The victim, identified as Nyima Dolma, died in hospital after spending more than two weeks on life support.

Homicide squad officers say it appears Dolma and the accused didn’t know each other. Police say 33-year-old Toronto resident Tenzin Norbu, who was set to appear in court on Monday, has been charged with first-degree murder.”

  4. If you’re not convinced the Joe Biden government is trying to destroy the US economy then read on.

    https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/24/tech/chip-shortage-car-prices-raimondo/index.html

Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo tells CNN that the global chip shortage is a huge problem, due primarily to underinvestment. In order to address this shortage the White House “convened a meeting” and “launched a hot-line”. They will work harder on this issue.

I saw this on another channel and in the side bar they showed the 4 largest chip infrastructure investments. Two appear to be in Taiwan, one ($200 billion) is in Shanghai and one (plant location not finalized) will likely be in Europe (France or Germany). Intel is investing $20 billion in the US but this is a fraction of total investment by chip manufacturers.

In summary, globalization has led to a massive shortage and disruption in the supply of computer chips and the US answer to this is to create a hot-line while other countries (Taiwan and China in particular) are investing hundreds of billions in new infrastructure. This suggests globalization is not disappearing any time soon.

    1. I guess, then, that “Waiter, there’s a fly in my soup” will no longer be a joke or something to be concerned about.

  5. More to the Liberal-NDP government’s war on farmers, here is the federal government’s discussion paper about reducing N2O fertilizer use:
    https://agriculture.canada.ca/en/about-our-department/transparency-and-corporate-reporting/public-opinion-research-and-consultations/share-ideas-fertilizer-emissions-reduction-target/discussion-document-reducing-emissions-arising-application-fertilizer-canadas-agriculture-sector

If one scrolls down a bit to the sub-heading “A Snapshot of Current Emissions”, the first paragraph under the sub-heading blames the four Western Canada provinces for the increase in N2O fertilizer use. Reading the whole document, the Liberal-NDP government calls for a massive regulation of family farms. Particularly Western Canada farmers.
