  1. Last night’s edition of Turner Classic Movie’s Noir Alley featured an obscure film, The Strange One:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ndc06KeMKxc

I didn’t particularly like it, but the reason I’m mentioning this is that it’s an early movie in the career of several actors who became well-known later on. The cast included Ben Gazzara, character actor Pat Hingle, George Peppard (I believe it was his first feature film), and James Olson. It’s interesting to see what they were doing before they became famous and that alone makes it worthwhile to watch the film.

Also interesting is that the movie was directed by Jack Garfein. Noir Alley host Eddie Muller mentioned a few things about Garfein’s career and I looked him up on the Internet. He didn’t make many movies and directed a number of Broadway plays, but what makes him outstanding is that he had an influence on the careers of a large number of actors.

Garfein’s acting classmates included Tony Curtis, Walter Matthau, and Rod Steiger. He established the western branch of the Actors Studio with Paul Newman. His students included Sissy Spacek and Ron Perlman. The list of actors he directed is impressive, among which were Shelley Winters, Jessica Tandy, and Hume Cronyn. The actors he discovered included Bruce Dern and Steve McQueen.

    Impressive…..

    1. watched this one as a kid, the line l most recollect,
“the hypocrites are taking over everything,
the hypocrites are taking over everything,
the entire whole world, the entire whole world”
did l remember it right after 55 years?
      p.s. how prescient . . . .

  2. WION reports JP Morgan says oil may go to $380.00 a bbl. Gopher Geebow better duck back into his hole.

  3. Very nice voices. And doesn’t God have some kinda sense of humor? Putting high voices in the faces you’d expect low voices from? And low voices from faces that suggest a high voice? Too funny.

      1. And TheMaskPeople on CKNW thought it was weird.. I thought it was good as well.

    1. Meanwhile Warren Kinsella continues to trash Poilievre every day on twitter. And Blackie’s Toronto Star is still running the story that Pierre is appalling and dangerous.

      1. Getting flak while over the target. I would be much more worried if the usual suspects weren’t filling their depends in a fit of manufactured rage.

    1. ?
all this time l thought it was ‘tale’
mebbe it was a veiled reference to having some ‘tail’ with Ms Wells. . . . .

      1. Congratulations. I might do the same soon, regardless of some so called crash. Garth Turner only knows about Ontario, no? My market will reflect JT greed. We’ll start drilling soon.

        1. Make sure you follow Garth. I remember hearing him speak in person and giving investment advice. “The markets are going to 40,000” . I t was sometime shortly before the 2000 market crash.

        2. Congratulations.

Thanks. The only reason I go to Fort St. John now is to collect gear that I have in storage. It looks like I might be done in September or October.

I might do the same soon, regardless of some so called crash.

Make sure you get everything in writing. The new owners said I could leave some of my stuff on the property until I could move it into storage. It didn’t quite go the way I expected and the less said about that the better.

          1. Sorry about the latter, whatever happened to the “gentleman’s agreement”? Of course, your last recourse would be the Solicitor who ‘closed’ the deal. None of our business, of course.

Had same agreement here, a City move in the Winter re: house plants, during a February Chinook. The buyers verbally complied. They didn’t want to be house-plant-killers. Was about 15 daytime but cool-ish at night.

          2. Sorry about the latter, whatever happened to the “gentleman’s agreement”?

            Thanks.

Since there wasn’t anything in writing about the post-sale arrangements, I don’t have a legal leg to stand on. Serves me right for relying on the aforementioned “gentleman’s agreement” and a man’s “word of honour”.

I spoke to my elderly aunt about it as she herself was snookered when she hired someone to settle the estate of her husband, my uncle, several years ago. She figured I made the right decision in the way I handled it and I’m sure my parents would have agreed.

Suffice it to say, had the roles been reversed, I would have settled the matter much more honourably and diplomatically.

    1. OMG! But I do wonder if more than 50% of the brain dead California Sheeple believe what he is saying? Kenji, what do you think?

    2. Like Canada is owned by the Liberal Party’s Owner, California is owned by the Brown, Newsome, Pelosi Gang.

      Truly amazing, our collective dumbness.

    1. An apology for having created the series in the first place would be better. I tried watching it twice and hated it both times. Dumb and unfunny.

        1. I knew people who thought that Friends was enormously hilarious. I was completely baffled as to what its appeal was. I think in a few years, people are going to look at it and wonder what all the fuss was about.

Similarly, a few years ago, I tracked down episodes of the old Mary Tyler Moore Show on YouTube. Now that is a series that didn’t age well for me as much of what was supposed to be humorous fell flat.

By comparison, All in the Family and Monty Python’s Flying Circus, which were created at about the same time as MTMS, still remain funny to this day. The humour in those two shows was timeless. There are still Archie Bunkers and Meatheads around and the situations in most episodes were something that people still can identify with. Meanwhile, the Python absurdity still makes me laugh. (“And, now, a man with a tape recorder up his nose……”)

          1. I agree. I never watched it either.

George, and his parents, Kramer, Dreyfus and Seinfeld…like them in that order, I still find episodes I originally missed.

    1. Agreed, Jim. Btw I saw them live in Greenville, SC recently. This song brought everyone in the audience to their feet with thundering applause.

  4. Welcome in, sex offenders!

““Canceling this program makes absolutely no sense and sends the wrong message,” said Buchanan, co-chair of the Florida congressional delegation. “If you are in this country illegally and have a history of sex convictions you should be a high priority for our law enforcement agencies.”

The congressman noted that 18 state attorneys general, including Florida’s, also have requested that Biden reinstate the program.

“America should not be viewed as a sanctuary country to these criminals,” said Buchanan, who has introduced several bills protecting women and children from predators, including the Human Trafficking and Exploitation Prevention Training Act. “It’s unclear whether the cancellation of “Operation Talon” was intentional or collateral damage in your softening of immigration enforcement, but regardless the program needs to be reinstated. The administration owes the country an explanation for this decision and it should reverse the action to show that it is serious in addressing these types of heinous crimes.”

“Operation Talon” is a national program organized by ICE to target illegal immigrants with convictions for sex crimes and subject to deportation orders. The program was planned during the final weeks of the Trump administration and canceled recently by the Biden administration. Each year ICE arrests thousands of illegal immigrants convicted of sex crimes.”

    1. It is only logical for members of government to lobby for the US to serve as a Sex Criminal Sanctuary.

  5. “If the COVID-19 vaccines really helped to keep people from getting sick, then why, in the age of the vaccine, are diseases coming back, and several outbreaks circulating the globe right now? It could be an easier question to answer than you would think.

Simply put, The Exposé says that it’s obvious why there are so many diseases being transmitted right now. And that’s because the COVID-19 vaccines cause AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) which is a complete degradation of the human immune system. Any small amount of exposure by those who have been vaccinated is resulting in an illness.

We shouldn’t really be that surprised. Because all we’re witnessing is the consequences of the damage done to millions of immune systems around the world by these experimental vaccines, with official Government data suggesting that damage is so severe that the Covid-19 vaccinated are slowly developing Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. –The Exposé

U.S. Ruling Class Data: Fully “Vaccinated” Are Developing AIDS
Whistleblower: Pfizer’s Main Goal Is To Weaponize The Immune System
New Zealand Ruling Class Data Suggests The Fully “Vaccinated” Are Getting AIDS

In addition to a recent listeria outbreak, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating one of the worst outbreaks of meningococcal disease in United States history. At the same time, the United Kingdom has reported there’s vaccine-induced polio in their sewage system as they grapple with a monkeypox outbreak.

There’s also a “mysterious” hepatitis outbreak spreading in children. North Korea had an outbreak of an intestinal epidemic while the norovirus ravaged tourists at the Grand Canyon. Iraq is experiencing an outbreak of Crimean Congo hemorrhagic fever, in which those infected with this tick-borne illness bleed from bodily orifices.

Lassa fever has also been going around in Nigeria, and while that’s fairly common there, it was also reported in the UK earlier this year.

All of these diseases are popping up in places with high COVID-19 vaccine intake. Is this all just a massive coincidence? Or are the injections really degrading the immune system to the point of failure?”

    1. This sounds awful to say, but I no longer care. It seems to be mostly Democrats, Liberals and the NDP who were huge supporters of the vaccines. So perhaps they will be the demographic to die from all the immuno-compromised diseases.
I stopped after the second vaccine as my sister had a major immune reaction to it.

Because we have not had the boosters, our trips to Europe have been cancelled for the foreseeable future as the boosters are required for entry into the European Union countries.

      1. “Because we have not had the boosters, our trips to Europe have been cancelled for the foreseeable future as the boosters are required for entry into the European Union countries.”

        That too, planned.

  6. I imagine the latest Jordan Peterson episode has been covered in SDA, so apologies for any duplication here. It’s just that I did not see the picture of the whale-sized Yumi Nu on the Sports Illustrated cover. So here it is:

Marketing people will always say that magazines (even in this dead-tree world of publication) should always put people on the cover that will attract the largest magazine sales. One would think that this somewhat bulbous individual might hurt sales. Anybody passing the magazine rack in a store would gag. One must wonder about where woke Sports Illustrated is going.

    1. Like Sportsnet, The Hockey News etc, Wokeness is the New Black.

    2. I’m old enough to remember when the likes of Kathy Ireland and Elle Macpherson graced the covers of SI’s swimsuit edition……

      And “Mr.” Page looks femmy.

    1. Trudeau has the most inept cabinet in Canadian history. The ministers have no experience in the fields that they should. They were all picked for cabinet positions by being suck-ups and yes men or yes women. This clown, Duckloser, has some economics degree. Nothing to do with health at all. He should resign. Who votes for an idiot like this?

  7. U.S. Corporate Elites Drive Private Jet Spending to 10-Year High

    https://www.breitbart.com/economy/2022/07/04/u-s-corporate-elites-drive-private-jet-spending-to-10-year-high/

“Among the biggest spenders were Facebook parent Meta and aerospace group Lockheed Martin as many companies eased rules on using private jets because of fears over contracting Covid-19 on commercial flights. Meta spent $1.6mn on private jets for chief executive Mark Zuckerberg, while Lockheed spent $1.1mn on flights for boss James Taiclet.”

My biggest take from that paragraph is that it’s A-OK to potentially freeze to death millions in the name of global warming, but asking some corporate fat cats to risk getting the flu and that is just asking too much. The arrogant MF’s. They can afford to be crass hypocrites like this because of their power within the system and they know we can’t/won’t do a damn thing about their corruption and nonstop rules for thee/me bullshit.

    1. It’s well past time that Politicians, Government, Big Business and anyone else who supports the Great Climate Scam, to finally lead by example in where they live, how they travel etc.
