Just curious if you know where this was taken as I’m in the Biz…
Nice picture and these men and women are heroes to those of us that get hurricanes and big storms.
Good question. It was taken in some community between Table Rock, NC and Greenville, SC. I was talking with a friend from Vancouver at the time and didn’t make note of the town but did take several photos with my telephoto lens. Wish I had taken a phone photo because then I’d have the GPS data.

Looks like SOP to me. Nothing too hard, just fan out and get to work. Looks like 8000 volt, but maybe 25,000 volt over head lines. Not much worse than house wiring for those guys. I am out of the trade for 9 years, but still have my hooks. Not looking to get back in the game. Too old for that 5hit now after 30 years in and 9 out. Local 254!!
It’s scary how few people really know and are involved inthe practicalities of maintaining the necessities of modern life. Small pool of talent indeed. What’s even more scary is the tiny amount of people in authority who get this. H
Hey Lefty, you have no idea of how small a pool of Power Linemen there is. I was in Fort Myers Florida, and there was a trouble truck next door. I went over to say “Hi” and told him who I was and where I was from. He said “do you know M*** L***?” I said sure, he use to be my bucket partner. The guy said that he was trained by my old partner. then I was up to White Horse in the Yukon, I ran into a bunch of guys from the power company and they asked if I knew G***O*** I said that he use to be one of thee guys who were on my crew before he left for the north. Very tiny pool of highly trained people doing a very dangerous job.
Power Linemen because even Firemen need heroes!!
