If they choose russian, confiscate all property of russian passport holders, transfer the value to Ukraine (preferably in 155mm arty ammo or similar), round up russians and keep them in detention until the war is over, then expel. Let’s not be so quick to judge/blame the Canadian bank. Perhaps, questions and documents ARE needed. I live in Vancouver, where laundering off-shore money via realty firms and lawyers has been elevated to an art form.
If I were a Russian with “means”, I might be thinking that sloppy Canada would be a great place to park cash, as the Putin regime may be undergoing changes. With less-than-ideal oversight, Canadian banks may be aware that changes are coming as the general public gets more torqued about housing affordability.
