I have fond memories of AG.
I first saw it during my junior undergraduate year. The on-campus student cinema was showing it over the weekend that lectures ended and final exams for the term were to begin. Some of my dorm-mates and I went to see it and it was a good antidote for the stress of studying.
Much of what was shown in the movie was familiar to me as I grew up in a similar town.
American Graffiti is the only Lucas movie that I’ve actually liked to this day. Although I liked the original Star Wars film at first, it didn’t age well for me. (I thought the third one was dumb and dreadful and that was the last of that series that I saw. From what I’ve read, I didn’t miss much.)
