    I have (among other guns) A Ruger 10/22. I bought a conversion kit and installed it on the weapon.
    The only change is cosmetic. Everything else is unchanged, but it now looks like one of Trudy’s

    2. Hi Ho as usual talks a lot and has no clue what he is talking about. First of all, a mag capacity limit on a riffle is 5 rounds not 10 rounds. 10 rounds mag on a riffle is prohibited and can land you in serious trouble.

      If it can be called a replica of a prohibited firearm it may well be verboten. The gun ban from two years ago includes prohibition of replicas of guns illegal in Canada. This potentially includes airsoft as well as air guns, so your 10/22 with a new skin may well be prohibited. I don’t believe there were any court cases yet, but I would not like to be the first.

      To illustrate the level of paranoia:
      In Canada, an airgun with a muzzle velocity above a certain value (IIRC 500fps) requires a PAL and is considered a firearm. The way a lot of Canadian air guns are made is that a hole in a 500+ fps is drilled into a chamber to let some of pressure out and thus reduce the muzzle velocity. In the strictest interpretation of a law this makes them replicas of firearms with above 500 fps muzzle velocity. Hence verbotten. Yes, a lower muzzle velocity air gun version of a higher muzzle velocity air gun now becomes an illegal replica.

      Disclaimer: this is not a legal advice, void where prohibited, consult a real lawyer.

      1. BUT, 10 round mags on a pistol caliber carbine (pcc) is not prohibited. Its not a rifle, for sure, but it ain’t no handgun. My girl and I each have one. At 50 yards you can make some pretty tight groups.
        I have a .22 cal and have 22 round mags for it.

          Regarding pistol caliber riffles that use handgun mags,ex: Marlin Camp Carbine, Ruger PC9/40 and similar (Berretta Storm used to fall in this category until it got too scary to stomach for some Librano intern who compiled that list). It is legal to own the gun, it is legal to own a mag, it is not clear at all if it is legal tp put the mag in the gun. You may get in trouble if you do not own a handgun that feeds from those mags but you have a riffle that does.

          Regarding large cap 22LR mags, (AGAIN not a legal advice) I believe they are now prohibited, this change came upon through back door few years ago, independent of the well publicized legislative abominations. So for the sake of clarification I assume that by 22 round capacity you were referring to an old 22Short tubular mag under you lever action riffle not a detachable mag. A common mistake, no worries.

          A guy had a 22 riffle and 12 gauge shells stored together in a locked compartment. The cops and and the crown argued that it was a violation of the rules as guns and ammo need to be stored separately. The owner argued that you can’t physically put a 12 gauge shell in a 22 chamber. The crown countered with “but you can pay a gun smith to rechamber your gun (from 22LR to 12 gauge, good luck with that, and even if so wha?t).” The judge agreed with the crown and charges were upheld. Make no mistake, they will use any excuse, no matter how bogus. And they are absolutely vicious.
