Even more curious, the banks were never given written instructions on how to implement this policy. As Department of Finance representative Isabelle Jacques told the committee, “We haven’t sent [the banks] any written details or information. However, we have made ourselves available to answer any questions the various institutions may have around implementing the order.” The entire “nuclear option” scheme was apparently applied on the basis of verbal instructions.
The federal government was clearly hasty and slipshod in going after supporters of the trucker protest. The policy was neither well-thought out nor legally iron-clad. This can likely be ascribed to the prime minister’s eagerness to politicize the event, and his rush in trying to bring it to a quick conclusion. The bigger question is why the banks would go along with a scheme that made them the tip of the government’s spear. Not every industry is prepared to toss their customers’ interests aside so quickly.

This is the essence of fascism. Its two most distinctive characteristics are the use of pure power (regardless of lawful authority) and the corrupt intertwining of government and business. The government uses business to do what it wants, and business (knowing that government will use its power against that business if it resists or insists on the rule of law) helps government.

The answer as to “Why the Banks were so eager?” is that the Banks have been the Gubmints fascist arm forever. Our frozen dominion knows no other way. Without regulations the banks would not exist. Canada’s Mugabe is now applying that formula to our media, energy and other crucial industries.
Does anyone know of any banks that didn’t freeze accounts?

To my knowledge, NOT ONE bank or credit union CEO questioned these orders. I will never forget, nor will I forgive.
We had a meeting with our CIBC rep, and I told her flat out that the banks destroyed their own credibility and trust. She winced, but you could clearly see she completely understood my point.
We began pulling our money, and by next year will likely have very little remaining in our accounts, other than the necessary month to month requirements.

If you owe a bank money they can and will seize your accounts at any hint of trouble. It appears to me the government is telling us they intend to seize our financial assets. (Aka: great reset ,you will own nothing).If you have the means, an emergency fund of gold or silver, a food supply, and protection may be the only things that have value. They have told us what they want to do,the method just hasn’t been totally implemented yet.
A few years ago that comment might have seemed like a conspiracy theory but today, under the Spawn-Fuhrer’s Reich, is just sound advice.
C, even worse is having converted your investments into cash and believing the banks were honest brokers that one could trust. They don’t want to f–k with me as long as I am healthy enough to remove someone from this insanity. I could make a mistake.
This incident also precipitated international institutional investors to dump Canadian accounts and bank stocks.
The big banks won’t readily admit that it cost a lot of business. The financial industry and particularly banking is based on confidence. Freezing accounts for political purposes is a slimy third world move.

My grandparents told me hair raising stories about things banks did during The Depression. I thought it was foolish stories that could never happen in this day and age. Finding out that accounts could be frozen by a word from The Turdo with no due process shook me to the core. I will never ever trust a bank or credit union to be anything but a sticky depository branch of government which I have to attend in order to pick up my money when it is paid out each month. My response to this revelation has been to withdraw all my savings and convert them to physical gold and silver. I also no longer use credit cards, e-transfers and debits. I pay cash with the exception of one no frills credit card I pay off every month for on line shopping. When my pension check arrives I immediately pay specific bills like that credit card. I withdraw as much as possible in cash. I only leave enough in the account at any given time to cover the cost of automatic withdrawals. I work on the assumption it can be taken away or frozen at any moment. Furthermore I have pulled everything out of my Royal Bank account and everything now runs through our local credit union, a tiny place with only one branch that is basically a place to deposit my pension and go to, to take out the cash. I don’t think I will ever get past this fright.

Right after Emergency act imposition I wrote an email complaint to my bank BMO opposing their cooperation in freezing accounts. Never received a reply, not even an acknowledgement. My accounts did not get frozen though I had made a donation to the truckers. Subsequently I have been moving cash elsewhere. But the problem is potentially similar in other western countries, what with climate social credit systems on the horizon. Where to go that is safe from arbitrary seizure?
If my account had of been frozen based on an RCMP list you bet I’d be suing the bank and the RCMP for violating my right to due process under the law. To think the banks where fine with playing fascists with the Trudy regime makes me sick.
Where would you sue? There are no independent courts or judges here. You would waste a huge money on a lawsuit, then wait 4 years before they find that everything the banks did was lawful.

Banks are highly regulated. The last thing any bank wants to do is make the regulator unhappy. Same as with what was previously your news profession.
I try to be cynical, but it’s so hard to keep up.
What should have happened in response: bank branches should have been burned by the hundreds, but the “Nazi” right has respect for the law (and firefighters) even when its perverted and warped by a piece of shit coward like Juthtin.
I wonder if the super-smart analysts at CSIS were perplexed at this non response as it shat in the face of their dubious narrative of an extreme right threat? Meh, probably not.
