Self-imposed sanctions

In the context of domestic polices aimed at throttling domestic production and distribution of oil all in the name of “saving the environment”, you might not want to simultaneously cut off foreign sources of oil. It doesn’t take much to figure out who is going to suffer the most in this scenario. If this does not drive western nations into full blown recession, I doubt that anything would.

A full and immediate embargo is likely to hurt European consumers more than Russian producers in the near term. More importantly, a full, immediate ban would likely drive Brent crude oil prices to $185/bbl as more than 4 mbd of Russian oil supplies would be displaced with neither room nor time to re-route them to China, India, or other potential substitute buyers.

  1. the liberal government wants a recession in order to meet their “climate change” goals?

  2. Something I’ve never understood in my fifty odd years of studying history and politics, is why the West has been importing oil from countries in the Mid-east when we have all that we need here in the West. Qatar, UAE, and Kuwait rank above Canada in a list of the richest countries in the world and all they export is oil. Think about that, no other source of wealth, no agricultural exports, no manufacturing exports, no other raw material exports, only oil and yet they rank above Canada. We have been buying a product that we can produce domestically from foreign countries and as a result have transferred huge amounts of wealth out of the country to our own determent. Ever since the oil crisis of the Seventies we should have been working to become self-sufficient in producing our own oil industry and yet we have done nothing to wean ourselves off of foreign oil. How do you spell stupid…..C A N A D A!

    1. It is called a communist conspiracy. Stupid people think I am wrong, smart people see it.

      1. Western Canada is even more stupid, you stay and take it, because at the end of the day you don’t have the guts to do anything about it.

  3. What a marvelous opportunity to speed up the WEF build back better program for us unwashed peasants.

  4. Have I mentioned that most people are stupid? I was saying it before George Carlin made it famous.

  5. The Trudeau government, which is just a front for the WEF, is doing everything he can get away with to break the country and the citizens both economically and mentally. Now with the so called “vaccine”, they are damaging the health of a good percentage of the population. Likely to shorten the life span. When the oil companies close up shop in Canada and the percentage of original citizens is very low, the WEF will have a very large country with an overabundance of natural resources and fertile farmland very few citizens. A good place for Klaus Anal Schwab to set up his kingdom to rule the world. They want Canada, we are just in the way. Not sure why they are letting the Muslims in though. Must be in the plan somewhere.

      1. Pardon me if I’ve got something wrong here but at the end of Ramadam isn’t there a big feast when the sheep have been sacrificed. Damn now I’ve gone and done it, given away the secret.

  6. Yawn.

This is the obvious result of repeatedly electing the dumbest humans available.
