Sri Lanka has announced compensation for more than a million rice farmers whose crops failed under a botched scheme to establish the world’s first 100-percent organic farming nation.
The island country is currently reeling from a severe economic crisis that has triggered food shortages and rolling blackouts as the COVID pandemic sent the tourism-dependent economy into a tailspin.
Agricultural chemicals such as fertiliser were among the imports banned last year as authorities tried to save dwindling foreign currency reserves. The restrictions were lifted months later after farmer protests and crop failures.
Where are they going to find that money?

China doesn’t need to invade countries. They have been lending money to third world countries, knowing that the loans can not be repaid. Thus they effectively take over those countries. One of the results can be seen during votes at the UN. The tropical islands ditching the Queen is another example of Chinese influence.
Where will they find the money?
Greenpeace?
Don’t forget that Juthtin the Retard wants Canada’s fertilizer use cut by 30% by 2030.
And don’t you dare disagree because dissent is criminal.
When are citizens going to say enough and start decorating lamp posts with politicians and bureaucrats? Which country will be first? Germany is facing food going up 20-50% today. Maybe them? Doubtful, absolute obeisance is in the DNA of the goose stepping Jew butchers. My money is on France. Push up fuel and food higher and higher and they may well “fire up” the guillotine, can you imagine the terror on the face of the Turd if he saw Macron’s head roll?
There is talk that (macron) could lose this next election.
The problem is, there is no Orban in France, LePen is not it, so you could end up with France moving left, seems impossible, but there it is.
The yellow vests will be out in force … every day
It seems that only when Russian troops have their back are most people brave enough to settle scores with their master class—much less choose their new leadership in full confidence that their choice will be respected.
The Romanians didn’t have any one for their backs, they did it all on their own.
There is hope yet.
I remember that announcement not that long ago, thinking, that won’t end well.
Command Economies.
Never fail.
To fail.
“We are from the government,we are here..To help you.
(Into poverty and servitude).”
Always the rest of the sentence goes unsaid.
Cast your eyes up and out over Canada.
Magnificent Land, huge, capable of growing many foods in great quantities.
Under the current Command Economics,we will be starving soon.
Mandated limits on fuel.
Crippling costs, caused by government madness and theft..
Essential supplies forbidden.
These are all signs of Command Economy…Where idiots in grey, operating under the command of Fools in pretty sox..believe they know best..
About everything.
Everything they have never done..
Being ,to a man, serial failures in the few things they have attempted to perform.
Ruled and regulated, not for reasons of resource, renewal and balance..
No.
Ruled and regulated for theological rationalizations. Most all evidence free.Save the Planet=Kill the plants.Orangeman Bad.Working Man Bad.Free man terrorist.
Whitey racist.
Wanna turn a Big Country into many small ones?
Continue to elect Fools and Bandits.
Best Comment of the day JOHN..!!
Expecting a third world dirt poor nation to convert to organic is insane, the left have no idea that organic is expensive and very labor intensive. Do they honestly think the dirt becomes magical once you relabel it? Where is that nation getting the money from, and now that they’ve destroyed their fresh food supply where are they going to get food from?
Not to be too overtly cynical Rose.
But a guy called Pol Pot tried to use all Cambodia’s intellectuals as fertilizer.
I am not sure what actually grew.
Some interesting technology has been developed to deal with weeds in organic crops. A neighbor close to me here in southern Ontario had been struggling for years to keep their organic, corn, soybean and white beans fields reasonably weed free. This past crop year they had a custom operator come in using an outfit similar to the one in the link. I must say I was impressed, you could not tell the difference in looks between their crops and the crops next door using conventional herbicide programs. How does it compare cost wise to regular spray programs? I don’t know. Given the rising costs we have every where these days it will likely be competitive.

“…as the COVID pandemic sent the tourism-dependent economy into a tailspin…” The “COVID pandemic” did no such thing. Leftists politicians and bureaucrats with their ineffective lockdowns and mandates sent the world economy into a tailspin. And don’t make the mistake of thinking it was not intentional.
Clyde….
That my friend is goddamned for sure.
100% planned …. long long ago.
All part n Parcel of “build back better – Agenda 2030″…..what’s unsaid is:
“For us & but certainly NOT you n me”
Another trial run for “Build Back Busted”
Might be just coincidence but I’ve noticed lately that Sri Lancan tea is in short supply in our store here
Is that the sort that’s packaged like a brick wrapped in foil? If it is, I know that you’re referring to. I used to be able to get it at Save-On Foods, but the last time I could buy some was about a sesquiyear ago. Nothing since then. Instead, there’s Yorkshire tea, which is quite enjoyable as well.
Failing that, there’s always Lipton’s or Brooke Bond at SuperStore or No Frills.
