            I’m a couple of years away from retirement, and my company will sponsor me to move south if I want. Getting the assets out of CAD without losing 1/2 of them to tax is a big issue. Seriously considering it though… but I’m still a prisoner here. We can’t even get across the border to look for places we might like to move to.

            IMHO, those who want to leave will have their last window of opportunity this summer. By the end of 2022 you (physically) and your assets will be stuck here.

            Mexico has 2 Residency Visas, Temp and Permanent. They aren’t difficult to get. Temp is pretty easy and good for 4 years. Permanent requires a little more financial manipulation, but is doable.
            Staying in Canaderp is looking more and more like financial suicide.
