I’m sure everyone has seen, or at least heard of, the Oliver Stone documentary on Youtube titled Ukraine on Fire. The interview with Putin in the film is fascinating. When you put it together with this enormous blunder by Joe Biden, it is understandable why Putin is concerned about US influence in the region.

Of course, none of this should be a shock to anyone in Canada after the United States influenced the 1963 federal election in Canada. They did so because Diefenbaker wouldn’t allow the US to put nuclear warheads on Canadian soil, while Lester B. Pearson’s Liberals were more than willing to rollover on the issue if it would help get them elected. The warheads remained in Canada until 1984.

I’m not taking sides in this conflict, I am just trying to understand it.

  1. I am fearful because of the US Propaganda machine is in full bore everywhere, some hacker’s could disrupt communications with Russian Military fleet and Nuclear Missles could be flying quite easily.
    Obviously, NATO and the US don’t seem to care about Russians Nuclear Armaments are at the ready and want a War.

    One thing about a nationalist who loves your country, you will defend it with everything you have.
    Our corrupted politicians did their love of money over being a country united by that sentiment. I love my country and will defend her but NOT my foolish politicians whom has chosen this.

      No rainbow flags, no “Pride” parades, no transsexual indoctrination and CRT in kindergartens – whaaaaat?

      The eastern hemisphere from Islam through to Russia will not accept the Wests agenda. It’s the west that has everything to lose here, and over time it will lose everything.

    The Contradictions of Russia. Which is true? Which isn’t? Who knows, all I know is they can’t all be simultaneously true at once.

    1) Putin is weak and unpopular!
    2) We have to launch sanctions against the Russians, to turn them against Putin!
    3) The oligarchs are turning on Putin!
    4) Russia is weak and will crumble soon!
    5) Russian protests are causing huge issues for the government!
    6) Russia must be cut off from the West, and it’ll have no effect on the West!
    7) Russia will crumble soon!
    8) Sanctions work, but we still need to arm Ukraine!
    9) Russia is losing Ukraine!
    10) Russia is bombing civilians in Ukraine, because they are desperate and losing in Ukraine!
    11) Ukraine is doing so well, and sanctions are working, but we still need to enforce a no-fly zone!
    12) Putin is mass firing people like Gerasimov!
    13) The sanctions, protests, attempted coup, mass firing, Ukrainian resistance and Putin’s weak position are working, but we must do more! Assassinate him!
    14) All of the above are so successful and useful, but we still need more! Ukraine in NATO!

    Don’t forget it is not permitted to hear both sides of the story.

    2. A lot of people thought that about WWII and fortunately there was strong leadership that navigated that sentiment and found a way to prevail. We are again at a major fork in the road where the direction of the world will be changed and not in a good way if Russia is allowed to prevail here. Unfortunately we do not have the quality of leadership that defended our way up to and including the end of the Cold War.

      2. Depends. Is this a war Russia vs the Ukraine or Russia vs the global conglomerate?

        If it’s against the conglomerate and Russia loses we all better be ready to grab our forelock, bow and bend knee when ere our beloved betters pass by, own nothing and be happy peasant!

        Win or stalemate, a lot of new paths open, some of the routes might even lead to a free future.

        1. Just because the Democrats used the Russian Hoax to weaken Trump doesn’t mean that Putin is not a threat to our national interest. That does not make the WEF way of thinking any less of a threat but I like our chances of fighting back against woke globalists than I do under a world dominated by China and its ally Russia. If Russia is allowed to take Ukraine, then Taiwan is next. If Iran is allowed to get nuclear weapons, then Israel will be in the crosshairs. Much of what happens next will be determined by what Russia achieves in this reckless gamble.

  12. An oversimplification of a complex situation I know…but if my next door neighbour is being courted by aggressive outsiders who’ve made it clear they aren’t my friends for the sole purpose of using his property as a strategic asset I’d be pissed too.
    This is a U.S. foreign policy blunder.
    The chickenhawks at the levers of power in the U.S. who are calling for “No fly Zone”s and media types suggesting tactical strikes on Russian convoys (Sean Hannity) are batshit crazy.
    For Canadians…this isn’t our shit so stay the hell out of it. And to the Canadian Ukrainians who have the sadz, Foreign Affairs minister and Parliamentary retard Melanie Joly says she won’t stop any Canadian wanting to join the Ukraine foreign legion…so saddle up and God speed.

  13. I keep asking, if let’s say I was an alien from the planet Wherever, would this not look like a civil war? Not to take sides and Putin’s actions are horrific and criminal but Ukraine used to be part of Russia but doesn’t want to be anymore. Ukrainians have been Presidents of the USSR. They speak basically the same language and both have a leader named Vladimir (only spelled a little differently in English). The Confederacy wanted out of the USA. Lincoln and Putin had other ideas. Many people died. The winner will write the history.

  15. When you are not sure who you can trust, return to first principles.

    1. The onus is upon the aggressor to prove their case.
    2. The War has to be legal and just.
    3. It has to be preventing greater harm than it is causing.

    The Russians have not proven their case.
    The Russian government has signed documents accepting that Ukraine is a sovereign, independent State, with full powers to make its own treaties and alliances.

    The Ukraine is not and never has been a threat to Russian security.
    NATO is a defensive alliance and has never been the kind of lockstep political and military hegemony exemplified by the Warsaw Pact. There are effectively zero scenarios in which NATO invades Russia, that are not based on Russia being the aggressor.

    Russian military doctrine on information-warfare is clear. They lie.
    Your distrust of Biden/Trudeau/Morrison etc does not change this and does not magically make Putin honest. You are fooling yourself if you imagine that you can understand this on a “good guys vs. bad guys” level.
    We do not have to pretend that Ukraine is perfect to “understand” that the Ukrainians are not behaving like people being “liberated” . They are very clearly fighting to maintain their independence and the right to sort out their own problems , if they can.

    If you really want to “understand”, try studying how the Soviet Empire treated its own citizens and satellite States. Read “The Gulag Archipeligo”. You might then understand why the former Warsaw-Pact Nations were so keen to leave the Soviet Empire in the 1990s, and why dealing with the US or fighting for their own survival is preferable to living under the Russian thumb.

    1. Very well said. I have been watching Tucker Carlson regularly to get news not in the MSM but he has lost me on his stand on this conflict.
      It seems that it stems from a reverse Trump Derangement Syndrome because of the Russian Hoax perpetrated by the Democrats so any perception of Putin as a threat must be suspect. The Russian Hoax and that Russia is a real threat are not mutually exclusive. I think Sean Hannity has a better take on Ukraine.
