    BANKRUPTCY.
    Not a single business out there not contemplating this unless your a Bank.
    Since our politicians have done a bang up job of diversity of parts to put something together.
    This is just the iceberg breaking into reality of poor decision planning.

    Short game is huge hit to city budgets as well.

    Long game goes to Russia and China who didn’t follow the Climate Accords even though China kept agreeing.

  2. C’mon Man..Joe gave us the indisputable formula for economic success: “Pay your employees more money while simultaneously reducing the costs of doing business” – what could possibly go wrong with following that directive?

  3. Crush supply with covid restrictions on businesses and production and flood the economy with free money.
    Destroy supply and increase demand.

The biggest problem we have is Trudeau Biden and the like want to break us.The price of fuel alone will kill the economy,to deliver any goods fuel is a huge factor and as usual it gets passed on to the consumer.Once the high price of food kicks in then no more consumer buying no more going out for supper and entertainment etc.That in turn breaks those businesses

  7. Elections have consequences but unfortunately we all pay for a tiny fringe minority’s vote in one city in Canada.

    1. It would have helped if Canadians had been offered a viable alternative the last two elections. “Our carbon tax is better than their carbon tax” is not a credible policy.

  8. The resource sectors undergirding an economy are in a fragile existence in Canada. Whether it is the natural resources sector being mismanaged or malmanaged (is that a word?) or agriculture with rocketing commodity prices and input costs. The strength of an economy is based on people’s faith in the future and that isn’t too rosy right now for a lot of folks

VOWG, you and I maybe the last in our cohort that understand inflation, and the cohorts that follow will stumble in their created darkness for the rest of their miserable lives forever blaming Harper and Trump. I’d like to share a beer or two with you but realize that may not be possible with the upcoming gas rationing and further travel restrictions. I’ll make do with reading and sharing your comments as I imbibe.

      1. I am in the process of consuming mass quantities as I type. By the way, one or two are rarely enough. The old body still has some tolerance for the beverage.

  10. I still believe our banks are at risk too now with bank runs. I know people taking money out, moving it out of Canada and see occasional online comments.

    But no huge stories anywhere about Canadian Bank runs, not that I’d expect them…

    1. One of four ATMs was empty at the bank I deal at but no problems with the other three. I would not expect the MSM to tell the truth about any run on banks any more than they told the truth about “covid”.

        I’m sure the government is probably depositing billions into the banks so they don’t go belly up on the liberals.

        We did find a way to fight back though. It’s only ones and zeroes in the bank.

        1. Be careful and keep a record . I have been taking a grand every few days but if you have too much unaccounted for cash you can be charged if you can’t prove where you got it. The world and country really are fucked.

          1. Everything is being done through the banking system so there are records of where it came from.

            We’re not taking out crazy sums.

    But seriously, just like Kate says, « all we need is a good famine » might be part of the great awakening so dearly needed.
    Our great grand parents went through and survived the Great Depression.

    1. Yes, the ripe old age of 30. I believe at the turn of the century, that being 1901, the ripe old average age was between 42 and 46. We managed to double that into the 80’s. I have no idea why my friends have mostly died under the age of 75. It is almost as if there is regression happening, this is independent of any covid crap. Just an observation based on people I grew up with. Most of those I considered close friends have been dead for a number of years, only a couple made it to 80. My current crop of buddies has one guy at my age, one guy at 80, the rest are all quite a bit younger. C’est la vie.

  15. Putin wanted a buffer zone around Russia, just as America desired a buffer around America during the October crisis. If he couldn’t achieve that diplomatically then he may establish it militarily, if he can’t accomplish it militarily, then the final option is nuclear. Don’t think the NATO Allies are sweating that option. How big was the No Go zone created around the Chernobyl site?

Back on the inflation topic what the Canadian voters didn’t understand when they voted for the parties that advocated for the Green Policy is that the Carbon Tax was institued to keep us perpetually behind the eight ball. The Green Policy of taxing energy is a method of keeping us all on a treadmill that we can never stop. The few dollars that we pay on heating our homes and fueling our vehicles is manifest across the economy and as the ultimate consumer we will pay for it all. A small example is found in homeowners municipal taxes. The municipal buildings, schools, school board offices, police and fire stations and all the vehicles that operate in their pervue willpay the energy tax and that will increase the realty tax across the board, which means your taxes will rise. Your ability to cover these costs will be curtailed by your inability to increase your salary as quickly as the taxes are raised. As a result you are now on a treadmill that can never be stopped or for that matter slowed down. Think about the big picture, a country’s economy is mainly dependent on a source of cheap energy and a well educated population. The present governments in the West have succeeded in skewering both of these principles.

  17. We need the power to actually hold our Canadian government accountable and enforce transparency. We need federal recall legislation. (The right to fire dishonest federal politicians). In 2005 Pierre Poilievre tried to get this into law and I spoke with him. He still supports it but needs to see the voters signatures that they want it. Let’s get this in. For our families future.
