    2. In Kamloops, where the whole panic started, some FN elders said that there were more than children buried there. The cemetery was a place where other people, mostly adults, were buried if they died while travelling through. The school offered some medical help, so that’s where sick folks sometimes ended up. In those days, TB was a big killer, and the children from the reserves were often already infected when they showed up. It also killed plenty of white folks. It was so bad that until antibiotics came along there was a TB sanatorium built west of Kamloops, at Tranquille, that cared for victims from 1907 to 1958, then became a mental hospital in 1959.
      Until someone exhumes an entire cemetery and does forensic analysis to see who they were and what killed them, this political hammering will continue. Truth doesn’t seem to matter much anymore. It is almost always opposed. It’s not fair at all to the people of that day. Guilty and convicted without trial.

      Was mentioning something similar to my lovely bride yesterday when we fueled up. Truck has a smallish tank, around 105 litres. Took $144 worth of fuel and wasn’t quite MT. I asked her if she could imagine filling our recently retired Suburban @ 160 litres.

      1. I have a 2020 GMC 2500 HD diesel work vehicle and we use helicopters (several hundred hours per year – 200 litres per hour). Fuel used to be a minor nuisance. Now it’s line item #3 in my cost sheet.

    Hard to find child death rates in CD 5-18, but 0-5 age group in the 30’s was 13%. In the 40’s it was 8%.
    I assume the higher number are attributed to those dying at birth. What is so out of whack at 3%?
    Kids had it pretty dang rough between birthing/illness/abusive adults (what we now call abusive but what was pretty regular parenting/schooling techniques a hundred years ago).
    What % of my family’s income has gone to corrupt Reserves instead of to my children……or others I may have chosen to help?
