Two-thirds of companies across seven industries jointly representing 64% of global emissions are relying on offsets instead of emissions reductions to get to net zero, according to recent analysis by the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment. The number is alarming given that study after study has indicated that most offsets available on the market don’t reliably reduce emissions.
The promise of an offset, in theory, is that it’s a payment to an entity somewhere in the world that would undo the pollution a company has put into the atmosphere. If it worked, then companies can reduce those emissions from their carbon ledger. In reality, however, experts say that most offsets available in the market fail to live up to that promise.
The opacity in the offsets markets makes matters worse. As many as half of all carbon credits sold on the voluntary market don’t have details about who bought them, according to a Bloomberg analysis of registry data compiled by the Berkeley Carbon Trading Project and Carbon Direct.

Mark Carney, former governor of the Bank of England who helped set up the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market, estimates that the offset sales may reach $100 billion by 2030.

I want to try a little experiment. Create a small 2 acre farm. Throw in a goat & a chicken, grow some veg in a garden, some feed for the livestock, little grass shack in the corner for the greenies to live, whatever it takes to be sustainable. Let it go for a year as a proof of concept.
Stage 2? Cover it over in an airtight plexiglass dome & continuously filter out all the evil CO2. Question: How long will it take before that greenie is looking for a drill or a hammer in the hopes than he/she/it can let a little poison in?
The most troubling part of this report is that it gives truth to the whole “climate emergency” sham (is that still the latest name for it or has it changed yet again?)

And the Liberal government of Canada spent $450 million dollars a few years back on a new supercomputer to predict the weather. My grandson and I did a little experiment with the printouts for Cambridge, Ontario (which gets it radar data from Breslau, Ontario at the local airport) so we could see how well the predictions would work out over a week. We printed screen shots of the forecast at 8 AM and 8 PM every day and compared the predictions and how widely they would change. My grandson now understands that the models are only good for about 12 hours out of the first 24, and takes everything on the weather channel with a grain of salt. So when there is a “Weather Event Warning”, we both look at the radar and see if we believe what the prediction is telling us. Most times, they are off by a considerable margin – we make better predictions by using the radar and satellite images. Keep in mind that my grandson just turned 9. And remember that Stats Canada determined that modelling would improve by eliminating 100 years of real data (albeit with some holes) in favor of modelled data which is now used for making weather predictions.
Sometimes it is necessary to use very simple tools to point out the rather large holes in science. And sometimes you have to patiently train people to use their own senses rather than just swallowing what the experts tell us.

Step 3: Despot then makes money by selling the rights to build the project to the Chinese. Pockets the money.

Step 5: If any Western Government complains Despot convinces Bob Geldof and Bono to recruit idiotic Musicians and Celebrities to put on an International Concert for Third World Loan Forgiveness. Pocket the Money

When Mo Strong was the head of Ontario Hydro, he had them buy up 10’s of thousands of acres of rain forest in Central America to offset carbon emissions. This noble act at the expense of rate and tax payers was only accidentally next to a resort that he had invested in. Funny that, eh?
