  1. Ah, another movie I hadn’t heard of before. I’m watching it right now. Thanks.

    1. I finished it a few minutes ago. The underlying premise is a bit hokey, but it’s not bad. It runs for just over an hour.

A few things worth noting about it. It’s a Republic movie. As I recall, it made a lot of shorter flicks, many of them westerns featuring John Wayne before he was in Stagecoach. (The Duke later starred in the Republic picture, The Sands of Iwo Jima.)

Charles Bickford plays the lead. He stars opposite Gregory Peck in The Big Country, made about 20 years later.

I found it interesting that Sam Fuller was one of the writers. He’s perhaps better known as a director, making a number of gritty movies such as The Steel Helmet, Merrill’s Marauders, and The Big Red One.

    2. Earlier this week, a URL for the movie Chicago Syndicate was posted. I watched it earlier today.

It’s not outstanding, but entertaining enough. It’s the sort of movie that Eddie Muller might show on Turner Classic Movie’s Noir Alley, so I think it’s worth watching, running not quite an hour and a half.

Two things stood out for me. First, the director was Fred Sears. Yes, it’s the same Fred Sears who directed that cheesy SF gem Earth vs. the Flying Saucers. The other was that one of the actresses was Allison Hayes. She’s perhaps best known for playing the title role in that cornball SF flick, Attack of the 50 Foot Woman.

    1. Just a question.
How does someone like Workman (a white westerner) manage to get into and then do a report from inside Afghanistan?
My bias is telling me that if it’s somewhere that is under Taliban control the only report that gets published is one that they approved from a mouthpiece they have control of.
But that’s just conspiracy talk, Workman would never work with the enemy, …… would he?

    2. The people of Afghanistan voted the ignorant Koran thumping hillbillies into power. I hope they are enjoying what they created by inaction, good and hard.

    1. Colonialista, I have come to the realisation that there are two types of people – feelers and facters.
Feelers tend to trust what they are told and base their opinions on feelings and emotions.
Facters tend to trust no one and base their opinions on facts and evidence.
Eg: Feeler watches TV News video of a lone polar bear cub on an ice floe. Voice over (Attenborough, obviously) says ice is melting because of man-made global warming and polar bears are in crisis.
Feeler starts campaign to ban fossil fuels.
Facter sees the same video. Goes online and checks the facts = roughly the same amount of arctic ice now as 50 years ago and 5 – 6 times the number of polar bears now than 50 years ago.
      Facter gets another beer.

      1. The late great Rush Limbaugh used to comment on the liberal democrats and their “feelings”. He was quite scathing as I recall.

    2. A thoroughly predictable outcome of the feminization of western societies. Let the wimmin take charge and logic is replaced by feelz.

    1. And here I thought the article would be about proof that Piltdown Man was not myth……

      1. Imagine the fish stories the actual critter would inspire. They’d be as incredible as, say, the accomplishments of a certain quantum computing expert many of us know of.

  2. While Moscow continues preparations for the liberation of Lesser Russia, Ottawa is focused on how easily Canadian forces can escape “Ukraine” ahead of the Russian army.

This is the smartest thing Ottawa has done lately.

“Ukraine” never corresponded to any cultural or linguistic reality. “Ukrainian” is a dialect of Russian and nothing more.

The Lesser Russians who took “Ukrainian” nationhood seriously were bigots who thought the Jews controlled “Muscovy” on the basis of nothing but provincial ignorance.

The only foreigners who ever thought an independent “Ukraine” a good idea were warmongers who wanted a parking lot for tanks a few hours from Moscow ahead of a future invasion of Russia.

The only people in Canada now crazy enough to think an independent “Ukraine” is worth a drop of Canadian blood are Chrystia Freeland and the fascists of the “Ukrainian” Canadian Congress.

    1. Jesus wept! Nobody wants to invade Russia.
(Certainly not the Germans or Swedes.)
If Newfoundland separated Canada couldn’t invade it.

      1. He’s a good one. I have to say that song prompted me to give the substance some tries back in the day. Determined that Italian sunglasses and sandals were a much better investment.

Saw Stevie Ray Vaughan at the Fox in St. Louis not long before he died. What an experience. I much prefer recorded music, but Vaughan live was a spiritual experience, and there’s not a spiritual bone in my body.

  3. The Last Days of the Covidian Cult

This isn’t going to be pretty, folks. The downfall of a death cult rarely is. There is going to be wailing and gnashing of teeth, incoherent fanatical jabbering, mass deleting of embarrassing tweets. There’s going to be a veritable tsunami of desperate rationalizing, strenuous denying, shameless blame-shifting, and other forms of ass-covering, as suddenly former Covidian Cult members make a last-minute break for the jungle before the fully-vaxxed-and-boosted “Safe and Effective Kool-Aid” servers get to them.

    1. “There is going to be wailing and gnashing of teeth, incoherent fanatical jabbering, mass deleting of embarrassing tweets.”

So, status quo. Good to know.

    1. The U.S. was created by 13 independent countries. For half the life of the country the Senate was appointed by states to represent their interests. Since they started electing Senators they have become servants of the national government not of the states and the power of the states has cratered. States are no longer the masters.

  4. “Inside every Progressive is a totalitarian fighting to get out”
Didn’t I use to see this here in the header?

  5. Here is a recent Seeking Alpha essay (it’s long, so grab a coffee) discussing why the bond markets will collapse first, spiking interest rates skyward, and causing stock and housing markets to crash:
    https://businessglitz.com/us/forget-stock-market-crash-bond-market-may-collapse-sell-tlt/

Seeking Alhpa is a reputable financial markets news site where this article originated. All their work is under a pay wall, so this is the only version I could find online. There are a few typos and grammatical errors in this version.

Yesterday I put half of my small, retail investment portfolio into one savings account mutual fund, with another 10% in gold bullion and most of the rest in oil and natural gas stocks. Russia will be invading Ukraine in the next couple of weeks, which will be the black swan event triggering the above. Expect gold and energy stock prices to move up when this happens.

    1. Yet another study confirming Ivermectin is effective. And why exactly is Health Canada blocking it at the border, so you can’t even order it for yourself? In my view, this makes it clear that the government policies are about control– not health. There is no reason to prevent people from buying Ivermectin for themselves.

      1. “Clarity of the Bigger Question, WHY This Massive Push for Vaccinations?
        January 19, 2022 | Sundance | 303 Comments

A guest on the Tucker Carlson show outlined the answer to this question {Direct Rumble Link} which has been stated in these pages and a multitude of conversations for well over a year. Why has there been this massive disproportionate push for vaccination against a virus which, all things considered, is NOT that deadly?”

    1. Will our Dear Leaders follow suit ?

Nah. They’d never let a lockdown go to waste.

    2. Scapped on March 24.
      Re-instituted in April. April 1st.

The only SINCERE scrap it, is scrap it today, right this minute.

    3. Boris is just flailing around, desperately trying to save his bacon.
He never followed his government’s rules, drinking and partying constantly at Number 10, and he is now paying for it.
Seems the old Etonian schoolboy scamp shtick is finally wearing out.
At least Thatcher accomplished something before she was vanquished by her Back-Benchers.

  6. If you really want to judge the metal state of the average democrat voter, look at who they elected, Maxine Waters, AOC, IIian Omar, Rashida Tailb, Stacey Abrams, Kamala Harris, and countless others too numerous to mention

    1. “The yearly increase, 2021 over 2020 came in at a 3.4% increase, the highest since 1991.”

Oh, horse shit! Off by a factor of 4, minimum. Ya don’t need to be a rocket surgeon to figger that out.

    2. As most pension plans (particularly gov’t pension plans) peg their annual increases to the Stats Can manipulated CPI inflation rate estimate, you can be sure that 4.8% is a grossly underestimated statistic compared to real price increase that consumers are experiencing right now.

  7. Let me just say as someone who is immunocompromised due to a kidney transplant. I took three shots of this supposed vaccine on the advice of my doctors, like a good little patient. But if they think I’m going to take a fourth… fifth… sixth…∞… they can shove it up their ass.

  8. Damn.

I’m a big fan and long time lurker of Ace of Spades blog, too. One of the regular contributors, Oregon Muse, had contracted Wu Flu a few weeks back. Yesterday he passed from it. I will miss, among other regular topics, his Morning Rant.

  9. All things considered, ain’t it a wonderful World?
Has anyone explained all details about the “new world order”?
    What’s included?
Men can become women, women can become men or something betwixt/between.
Governments can decide what’s good for us and enforce it by applying the old “or else”.
    What could possibly go wrong?

    1. Are the 1920s and 1930s being compressed and replayed in the 2020s?

A worldwide pandemic is destroying the cultural fabric of the civilized world.
Western Intelligentsia has re-packaged Eugenics and the Red Scare into Vaccine Mandates and Build-Back-Better.
Inflation is running away and threatening to destroy the world’ economy.
We are about to “enjoy” a Totalitarian Propaganda Olympic Games hosted by a genocidal dictator.
Western politicians are currently trying to prevent a potentially large land war in Europe by engaging in “diplomacy” with another totalitarian dictator over the Sudetenland, err… Ukraine.

      Great times!
      Hey, what’s on Netflix tonight?

  10. Blacklock reports that the parliamentary press gallery met behind closed doors, to discuss whether to allow the official propaganda agency for China to become a member. Probably at Justin’s request.

  11. A Tesla owner is facing a vehicular manslaughter charge for running a red light and killing two people while his auto-pilot was engaged.

    https://www.msn.com/en-ca/autos/news/tesla-driver-charged-with-felony-after-deadly-crash-killing-two/ar-AASWav6?ocid=entnewsntp

It is thought to be the first such case of a person being charged in an accident while their auto-pilot was engaged. Should be interesting. The charge doesn’t even mention auto-pilot.

  12. Tried posting a link to a news story that a ball girl collapsed at the Australian Open.

The SDA memory hole decided that is forbidden news and vanished the post.

    Anyone else had that experience?

    1. I was unable to post much over the weekend.
Also unable to post in Ryan Miele, Hardest Hit thread yesterday. I forgot to save it in Word or if I’m using my phone in Messages
Ive started posting without links then adding them in edit mode.
Never have more than 2 links per post

      1. I tried adding the link in edit, and the whole message was disappeared after I got the message that I could not edit the post.

There was only one link, to a Rumble video of the Stew Peters Show

        1. I’ve had NO LUCK linking Stew Peters. It doesn’t matter the platform.
          Perhaps he ist verboten.
Scott Quiner story is a must listen, as are the pilot stories.
The only negative on his show is a female naturopath who is on now and then. She is quite a nutter.

  13. Just stumbled across this site:

    Librti.com

Claims to be “Canada’s New Social Media Site”

    Anyone here tried it?
