As I said a week or so ago, Saskatchewan has been the worst place in Canada to weather this pandemic — with the exception of all the other provinces.

Added in the comments: The Sask government carpet bombed the province with rapid tests. That at least gives people a fighting chance of not passing along the virus to vulnerable family and friends when they think they have symptoms, or just want to be extra careful. It may be making that demographic difference, but it’s still early.

  1. I think different demographics are the main factor. I don’t think politicians should be taking credit for something much beyond their control.

      1. One incorrect assumption many people are making is that everyone within an arbitrary political boundary is equally likely to get Chinese Lung AIDS, but that’s not how things work. It has to spread via close aerosol contact, and a potential patient has to have several such contacts to have a measurable chance of contracting the virus.

        That means that there’s a confounding factor: the number of dense population centers within that arbitrary political boundary, because that’s where you’re going to see the most person-to-person transmission. If SK enacted the exact same policies as every other province, I’d still expect it to show lower per capita cases and hospitalizations just because there are so few dense population centers.

        I don’t think there’s a way to account for that without resorting to bull**** computer models, but the rule today is the same as it was during the Middle Ages: when the plague comes around, get out of the cities.

      2. Some report I read (The Epoch Times Canada [newsletter@theepochtimes.com]) stated that some rapid tests can produce up to 40% false positives. And what’s the point of testing asymtomatic folks (non-spreaders)?

      1. That’s what I think. It’s crazy to think you can stop a virus from spreading. I do not think anything that has been done – closures, masks, tests, contact tracing — has had any kind of significant impact. The best you can do is encourage healthy lifestyles to boost immunity, encourage early treatment when symptoms appear (banning Ivermectin has been very short sighted, bordeting on malicious,) and try to protect elderly and vulnerable as best you can, while leaving others to carry on with their lives.

  7. Scott Moe came from a rural background, I truly believe he didn’t want to go with as many restrictions as was implemented. He was pushed from SHA and his urban MLAs and left no other choice. I’m unaware of any other premier stating that we should tap down the rhetoric towards the unvaccinated as he did.

    Watched the Israeli immunologist on here and he is bang on when politics and health intersect it becomes political. Run for politics and win, you become a politician, imagine that! Let him have his wins and tomorrow put the rate of HIV in that graph. I’d keep Moe any day as opposed to Meile.

    Now just punt Jason Kenny and insert Brian Jean next door then we have something going on in the west.

    1. BC “allowed” NOTHING, many of the gyms had finally had enough and were opening ANYWAY ignoring Bonnie Goebbels, that is precisely what all businesses should do. As you point out vaccine passes, masks and physical seperation are required-I doubt many will follow that edict. Bonnies credibility is shot except among the Karens.

      1. I noticed that at the grocery store I go to in Fort St. John. Most people dutifully wear masks, but some, like me, don’t. Nobody seems to care any more.

      2. My CrossFit gym in BC is supposed to be closed but stayed open by basically pretending we’re a sport and competing against each other, even though the regs specifically say CrossFit should be closed.

        Classes are full and no one has ever brought it up.

  12. I made the mistake of reading some of the twitter thread following Moe’s tweet. I lost a few braincells from the exercise, but there was maybe 5% of the replies that agreed with him, the rest were begging to follow ON and QC’s lead, seeing as it’s working out so well for them. I realize that twitter is a leftist echo chamber and all but I hope Moe has the guts to stick with it.

    1. Yeah, that’s a function of media pumping lies into their heads. The last provinces you should follow in regard to this is Quebec and Ontario. They have by a pretty wide margin, the highest hospitalisation and ICU rate per million in the country.

      The provinces have done a shitty job of getting their clean information out to the public. The vast majority of people are headline readers and don’t have the will or capacity to take a look at the data themselves.

If you check the data on hospitalisation and ICU rate regarding Covid for the six larger provinces, you find that by calculating a linear regression trend line (best fit) through the data the higher the vaccination rate of the province, the higher the hospitalisation and ICU rate. At 73% of the population vaxed, the hospitalisation rate is just over 250 per million and at 82%, it is just under 300 per million. ICU shows at 73% vax rate, the ICU use is 21.5 per million while at a 82% vax rate the ICU use is 32.5 per million.

    Of course, Quebec has, BY FAR, the worst stats but for some reason the media and Trudeau seem to believe they are the model to follow.

    Did Moe really catch covid by removing his mask for a couple of minutes like the media claimed?
    Why don’t they castigate the media for spreading misinformation like that? It’s a bit of irresponsible media fear mongering.
    Why were doctors fired for questioning their policies?
    Why is there a mask mandate when there is virtually zero evidence that masks work?
    Why is there not one single government mention of any of the myriad of ways in which people can strengthen their immune systems?
    Vitamin D, C, Zinc, lose weight, etc?
    Why aren’t antibody test accepted as proof of natural immunity?
    Why can’t I get an antibody test in Saskatchewan?
    Why isn’t natural immunity from covid infection accepted as equal to vaxxed?
    Why is there never any official acknowledgment of the importance of or the role of co-morbidities?
    Why isn’t there any acknowledgement that the vaccines are obsolete?
    How did the Sask health dashboard get filled with misinformation time after time?
    Why are children being vaccinated?

    Half the public are terrified of covid because Moe and company let the media and bureaucracy feed the public exaggerated garbage and misinformation.
    That’s not leadership.
    Families are torn apart because these gutless ‘leaders’ refuse to confront and address this panic porn bullshit.
    Old people are dying of loneliness and kids are being scarred and damaged.

    We’re at a crossroads of history and these cowardly fools can’t see it. Being slightly less pathetic than the rest isn’t really honorable.

      He destroyed Saskatchewan’s economy, he persecutes the unvaxxed, he lets 5 year olds take the kill shot, he mandates the stupid mask wearing costume, he persecutes churches, he censors Doctors and alternative treatments, he does not recognize natural immunity or previous Covid infections, he uses the faulty RT-PCR test that can not differentiate between the flu and Covid and that productes many, many false positive tests, he mandates Covid passports. Tell me one, just one good thing he has done in response to the Covid flu.

      He is just like all the other buffoons, just a different color.
