  2. My ex wife, and son Ben have both moved to Mexico, and have said they’re not returning to Canada as long as the insanity is front and centre in everyone’s life here.

    They seem happy, Ben has never liked the cold but the entire covid fiasco pushed him over the edge I think. He commonly doesn’t wear a shirt until he goes out in the afternoon.

    My kids remaining in Canada talk about leaving as much as the mennonite community does, to escape the tyranny.

    My parents family know the Liberals are doing all they can to save the country, (well they did a year ago) and I doubt they’ll ever feel they made an error in vaccinating or voting for the tyranny. They’re nice people though, as long as we don’t talk politics and I agree with whatever they’re saying.

  4. I’ve already mentioned our plan to move our family to the US via my husband’s American citizenship. I want my kids and their future kids to live in a free(er) country than Canada. The US has its faults but Canada has shown it’s true colors and revealed Canada’s joke of a constitution (really only fit to line a bird cage).

    We have also talked about the two of us retiring to Mexico after we get the kids settled. PV has always been a great vacation destination for us.

P.S. – we never thought we’d move our family out of Saskatchewan until Moe flipped to the dark side to force immunization with vaccine mandates and vaccine passports, despite vowing not to weeks earlier. Trust and respect for Canada, Saskatchewan and “conservative” politicians is permanently destroyed. We have deep roots in this province with 5 generations starting from european settlers building farms and ranches in the past to energy workers in the present. We even stayed during the mass exodus out in the 80s and 90s when Saskatchewan’s economy collapsed.

      Until the last 2 years, Saskatchewan was the only place I thought I’d call home (with winter sun vacations). Now I’m anxious to get us the hell out of here permanently. Never thought I’d be saying that. But we will not live as 2nd class citizens, under segregation and discrimination, due to a personal medical decision and insistence on the absolute right to bodily autonomy regarding medical procedures.

        2. Borders aren’t really secure anymore. There’s always options. Loopholes. Sometimes just patience. Besides, politicians don’t follow any rules or laws so why should anyone else.

      Sure they get me on some grocery GST and a few other small necessities, but someone from the US now gets to pay the 6 figure income tax bill my H1B visa no longer supplies to the Blackface government.

  6. Sure … the cartel will NEVER bother any wealthy ex- pats. Nahhhh … they only do illegal drug trade and human trafficking. Nahhhh … the cartel doesn’t either OWN or KILL any “Law Enforcement” officer who dares cross them. Sure Mexico is safe. Adios.

    As Proverbs says … “being kidnapped and held for ransom never worries the poor man”. My advice? Best to move to Mexico and be poor. Don’t venture outside your gated/guarded community … without a bodyguard.

      Any Gentile Canadian serious about fleeing is better off looking at affordable and much safer countries in Europe, that are NEVER been in the EU and are unlikely to join any time soon.

      (If you’re Jewish, the choice is obvious. You should have gone to Israel at age 18 and stayed there, no matter what your Star-reading relatives thought of it.)

      Moldova is on my short list. Lowest cost of living in Europe, some of the best wines in Eurasia, and (if you have Canadian dollars) much faster access to much better health care than Canada. In Moldova, when you fall ill, you’ll get to see a doctor who actually wants you to get better, not a Pakistani quack who just wants his $75.

  7. Personally know 2 couples who have done just that. They typically would come back in the summer but have not done so in over 2 years.
    It may be a long while before they ever set foot on Canadian soil again.

  9. Ok, for Canadians-Canadians: not Mexico (I still think it’s a narco state and not safe at all), not USA (it’s going down and fast) but Costa Rica and Panama are great expat choices.

    For Canadian-Europeans (those who came from East Europe/Russia) Greece has very good expat opportunities. Yeah it’s still EU but rules are a bit circumvented there.

    1. My wife knows people that have had good experiences in Costa Rica. I worked with a recently immigrated Mexican engineer about a decade ago that commented that life in Mexico City was preferable to Calgary. Personally I felt threatened a few times while vacationing in the Mayan Riveria but at the same time met an ex-pat that’s been living there for decades and appeared to have great close relationships with the locals. Still I’m reminded every so often when there’s a spate of unsolved murders of Canadian tourists in Mexico that the level of safety down there leaves much to be desired especially if individuals are vulnerable and know little to no español. So overall I think it’s quite a mixed bag – might be great for some and not for others. Spin the wheel and takes yer chances I guess. Like everything else in life.

  12. A few people I know that have retired have done so in Portugal and have never regretted it. I’m seriously looking at the same option.

    The problem now is escaping Canada as a pureblood, we can’t get on a plane and countries along the way demand the vax pass.

        My experience, however, of US border/customs from many, many years ago is somewhat different. If I had tried such a tactic I would have ended up in Guantanamo Bay as a permanent guest of Uncle Sam. The government officials I encountered were the authoritarian, low-IQ uniformed types that don’t share the FN sense of humour.

        I doubt that international borders are getting porous for low-status English-speaking, white European types.

    Most of us in the west believed that, at least, prairie governments would protect our rights
    from the growing Ottawa political tyranny; and from the worst aspects of our provincial institutions being taken over by affirmative action incompetents.

    We were naive. Blindsided by the Marxist Medical tyranny, we discover that all levels of government no longer are restrained by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. That premiers
    believe they can simply declare a State of Emergency to nullify it. Thereby “legalizing” government by arbitrary measures.

    Life now is without any political opposition in any legislature or in Ottawa, nor any free press. The indication is any attempt to form either will be fined, arrested and jailed. Which has already happened or is promised. The Trudeau regime are rushing to outlaw free speech or press on the internet. The lowering of the Iron Curtain continues apace.

    The body politic is infected, was denied early treatment and is in ICU fighting for it’s life.

    If the countries Canadians are escaping to, before the borders are closed, (Charter Right to
    leave and enter Canada violated now) permanently. If they don’t have members of the clergy
    jailed for doing their job, nor churches suffering arson, without such even being officially declared terrorism. 2020-2022 has made becoming an ex-pat a reasonable option.

    To stay and fight and risk persecution, *impoverishment, imprisonment, and even ***death; all to make Canada, the True North, Strong and Free, again. That will require the kind of patriotism, the heroic quest and sacrifice, made by our ancestors, who created order out of chaos by a sheer act of will. Serving the highest *ideals, they could imagine.

  19. I read more of the his blog. His post on safety and crime would definitely give me pause before living there. No driving at night? Bars on the windows and Barb wired walls? That’s a big change from where I am at here. I don’t even lock my doors!

    True. But “there” could be many places that were once thought safe. There are many urban areas across the US that are total s-holes no sensible first worlder would ever choose to live in. Fortunately the US is a big country with havens of sanity here and there. But they are shrinking, as the startling combination of authoritarianism and lawlessness encroaches everywhere. At some point, there will be a reckoning one way or the other.

    Let’s keep in mind that the whole world’s political class is auditioning for a perch in the New World Order. If not the current ruler of your desired relocation, maybe the next ruler. We can see this in the covid craziness competitions.

    You must remember that your money is CANADIAN MONEY.

    When that idiot liberal Justin Trudeau,and the future idiot liberal governments causes the Canadian dollar to be devalued due to his ,and their ,imbicilic fiscal policies your buying power will be diminished against the currency of the new country you are moving to.
    Over time your buying power will drop and you will only be able to purchase less and less goods and services as the years go by.

      Good point. First off, however, the canuck buck has kept its value against some currencies fairly well since that sudden devaluation back around the Harper/Trudeau transition from US par to 80 cents. I’ve written here before that the US Fed and world central banks are keeping Canada and other countries afloat with off-book back-door currency swaps and government security purchases. For the time being, not even Trudeau’s insanity can totally wreck the currency.

      Secondly, if a person wants to quit the country*, he’ll have to sever all ties. That doesn’t mean relinquishing/renouncing citizenship, (but it could include that if one wishes or has to). But it will mean not drawing from a revenue/income stream that originates in Canada. That’s my understanding anyway.

      *quit the country: I mean not having to deal with the various governments in Canada, their agencies and/or regulatory bodies, other than renewing one’s passport. Someone once told me, no idea whether it’s actually true, that “severing all ties to Canada” means you can’t even have things in storage in the country.

  24. No thanks. Wouldn’t trade our tyranny for a failed state run by narco-cartels. Mexico is all fine and dandy until it isn’t, and then reveals its true, savage nature. My thoughts are based personal experiences, those of friends and relatives, as well as voluminous reading. Don’t try to convince me otherwise. I could see going to Costa Rica or some of the other Latin places, but Mexico is uniquely corrupt and dangerous, despite all the other commendable things about it and it’s people.
