  1. Make sure I pay the credit card bill so I don’t get dinged extra for paying on a weekend. I live an exciting life.

    New Year’s Eve is one of those nights when you think everyone else is out partying while you’re sitting at home, but in truth the opposite is the case.

    1. I did a post dated payment for my visa on my online banking last week to avoid the very same bank dings, LOL! The amount of bank fees we pay as a small retailer Is just crazy!

  2. I plan on observing another personal tradition: watching the movie Back to the Future. I think that started when all three BTTF films were shown near the end of December a number of years ago, maybe even on New Year’s Eve itself.

    I might also check the local ham repeaters to see if anybody’s on the air. I recall having a rag chew with some of my fellow radio amateurs one NYE. It was a fun way to start a new year.

The Nazi Needle is a DNA/RNA altering serum which tricks your cells into going into hyperdrive to try and stop something which is not present in your body at all but is supposedly trying to kill you. Your cells no longer perform their natural function of keeping on guard for you to fight as it was supposed to.

        Age has nothing to do with it. Rewriting your hardrive in your computer, regardless of the manufacturing date, still makes changes to your computer.

  11. The fall of ‘globalization’ will not be pretty as China ensures the ‘Western Nations Alliance’ have only idiots to vote for who are all in on agreements and contracts.
    Outsourcing has been a disaster in Military Equipment and hardware to fix broken equipment. Made in China everywhere.
    The United States ensures that if ‘your not with us, your against us’ policies has ensured that many Nations only are signed agreements and no intentions of honoring those agreements as penalties or sanctions are the consequence.

    The politicians were shocked of the fall of Afghanistan wasn’t in the way that they agreements upon.

    Here we are today with Russia and China laughing their heads off on how they didn’t need to fire a shot to kill off the United States and their aligned Allies.
    Just keep making agreements with no intentions of honoring their own.
    Buying out key politicians which many went to China and of course the Mainstream Media.

    In our State our local Cat Lady has come out publicly and said she wants us all to have the quietest New Years Eve ever and only party via Zoom calls.

    She sees no problem with this as she is a Cat Lady and never socially interacts with humans for longer than it takes to sink her parasite teeth into our tax dollars. Other people?

    Dunno… We are under restrictions… I think. Masks in public buildings or something. No drinking standing up cause the virus is height sensitive. Sit down and you are fine. Masks walking from street to bar, but not once you have your drinks or food.

    That sort of illogical rubbish.

    It is easier to just never check if the restrictions have changed and ignore most of them.

    EXCEPT… if I do go out I will have to play ball and I don’t even know what ball is these days.

    So I want to go out just to spite our Cat Lady Health Expert, but may not. New Years has become pretty lame over the last 5 years or so anyway. They made it a public holiday after 6pm to please the unions, which means all hospitality employees get double pay if they work. So a lot of venues work out it is not worth opening as they will never make enough to pay wages and stay shut.

    The days of going into town and changing pubs every 40 minutes until you find one with enough ‘talent’ are long gone.

    The IRS Publication 17 (2021) guideline states, “If you steal property, you must report its fair market value in your income in the year you steal it unless you return it to its rightful owner in the same year.”

    The publication also says, “[i]f you receive a bribe, include it in your income,” while demanding any unlawful earnings be listed as income.

        A drug dealing client had a tag-on offense of failing to file an Alberta Corporate Income Tax Return. Because prosecution is provincial, the prosecutors likely brought the charges on their own. Revenue Canada likely decided not to waste their time. Those taxes never were filed, and I’m guessing, because the truth could cause more problems and lying is a crime.

        Profits from criminal activity is fully taxable and if you are claiming expenses from such income, you had better have receipts if you are audited.

      3. It’s the same in Canada; one is required to report one’s income “from all sources, world-wide”. Remember that from classes back in the day, when it was specifically said that proceeds from crime were supposed to be reported. Supposedly there was also a barrier between Rev Can, as it then was, and the rest of the gov’t so any such reporting would remain confidential.

      1. I am going to be an optimist. I think the tide is turning and that the pandemic is winding down and the vaccine nonsense will end soon. Mind you other problems could emerge, but I am trying to have a positive outlook. Bad times do not go on forever and many good people are resisting the tyranny.

        2. I’m an optimist too, but, also believe there’s a lot more shit to go through first, more incompetence and more oppression by government, and, more heartbreak and disaster, before this ends.
          The long term vaxx issues will start to appear, then things get really ugly.

    1. Unfortunately, HF in my immediate neighbourhood is pretty much off limits because of local interference. I live about a block from a neon palace shopping centre and there are LED street lights all over the place.

  20. We don’t have any New Year’s traditions, as such. For several years, when my father was alive, he took the family (10 of us!) out for dinner on New Year’s Eve, either to Ruth’s Chris or The Acadian Room at the Royal York Hotel. I think he looked forward to that as much as he did Christmas and Boxing Day. Plus, we were all home in time for the countdown and missed all the drunk drivers on the roads.

    We’re pretty low-key here. I’ll go to Mass and come home to a cocktail, followed by steak, Caesar salad (he makes the best!) and a bottle of wine. He’ll most likely have a bourbon and cigar after dinner and we’ll watch a movie.

    Tuesday’s “Embrace Hollywood” thread on Spielberg’s “West Side Story” reminded me that I have the original movie on the PVR. Perhaps we’ll watch that. My husband doesn’t really like musicals but he said he would give it a watch after I showed him this:

    1. Just for a lark, I looked up the IMDB page for the “new and improved” WSS. It rates higher than the original, but it’s interesting to read the reviews. Those who hated it really hated it. Those who liked it were singing its praises.

  26. Our New Years will be a zero, frankly. Frau Bonnie has shut down BC in her all her hand wringing, cat lady paranoia, and, has caused great divisions in the populace.

    We are fully caught in the downdraft. Friends, and family, have ostracized us now, more than ever. At least now, my wife looks more favourably on moving away from here, since our daughter (grandson) has got fully brainwashed into Covid paranoia, and we are forbidden from contact. Because she has nurse friends and they’ve seen kids in hospital . Oy vey.

    Cold hearted, doesn’t start to describe that. Threats from us probably won’t help, such as cut off from any financial help, or other help, but they have a bunch of shit in my crawl space, that might find its way to the curb soon……….

    The delusion is now in our family, and creating some permanent problems.

  29. We will be going to hang with our church body to worship and pray; for ourselves and our families, our city, our province, our nation and whatever else Holy Spirit moves us to pray for. Really looking forward to just sharing life with other warriors in God’s Kingdom. If not now, when?

    1. Sounds wonderful. Our church has a service early on New Year’s Eve. Not goIng, however, as I’ve been sick all month (bronchitis/ear infection) and it’s still hanging on, and causing fatigue and lots of sinus pressure. (This has also felt like a spiritual battle in many ways, still raging. Could use your prayers, Glacierman.)

      Husband and I will be home tomorrow night, will eat, talk, read, listen to music. Won’t stay up till midnight like we have in the past. I ordered various food items via Door Dash from a local restaurant/tavern. That will arrive at around 5 pm tomorrow. Have lots of booze in the house, though I doubt I’ll have much, if any.

      Unfortunately, this bronchial and sinus inflammation is seriously dampening my sense of taste and smell (no, it’s not Covid). Bummer for somebody who loves good food, and drink. Never had that happen before, but I’ve read that it’s not an uncommon side effect of many viruses, and the kind of symptoms I have.

This was a real strange year for me personally, two years ago I found out about my birth mom, I was adopted at the end of WWII, and she had me when she was 22 and then went back to Michigan where she went on to have three lovely daughters and a son, all great people. There was not much info by my birth dad but the DNA stuff gave me a whole lot of family right across the bridge from Port Huron in Canada and this past year I have found out I am kin to a whole lot of the population of Ontario, thousands of distant cousins. All I know about Canadians is they talk funny and they eat funny food and I talk with a West Texas twang, not as bad as 50 years ago but still there and I eat regular food, like Tex-Mex and Chili without beans and lots of beef and bacon, all the basic food groups. Kind of funny to find out I am half from the land of nice polite people and not just an OldTexan, ehhh?

    1. R: Just watched it. Excellent. Highly recommend it. Applies equally to Canada, if not more so.

    It’s a hillbilly version of a great jazz song. Good on ’em.

    I would recommend Karen Carpenter’s reading of the tune. I love her voice.

    Not the biggest fan but Diana Krall does a nice take on it. I think it’s Russell Malone on guitar.

      Diana Krall did a nice take on assholery a few years back. She was across a small space at Vancouver Airport. As she had won some kind of award I gave her a thumbs up only — I fully respected her privacy as I think it’s childish and tacky to approach celebrities.

      To my thumbs up she scowled.
      She was just ahead of my wife in the security theatre line. My wife got a bad vibe off her too.
