  2. More than 45 years ago, I heard a recording of a presentation made by Rev. David Wilkerson (author of The Cross and the Switchblade, based on his ministry to youth gangs in the New York area). In it, he spoke about a vision he had about the near future of society, and it wasn’t promising. Among the things he said he saw was nude dancing in church.

    At the time, I thought it was far-fetched. After reading that article, I’m not so sure.

    1. It wouldn’t be the first time there’s been nude dancing in church. The Adamite sect and their later Taborian Neo-Adamite imitators were pretty big on it in past centuries.

      1. I know of some Christians who might more offended by the dancing than the nudity.

  7. Exactly. Very few faithful churches left. We will have a lot of harvesting to do in the coming years.

  9. Maybe they are using the same advisors as O’Toole. The mainstream churches were among the first institutions marched through by cultural Marxists. Forty years ago, the World Council of Churches was supportive of every Marxist liberation movement on the planet. The UCC has operated an NDP training Camp at Naramata near Penticton, BC for decades.

      Yup. That’s when I started having doubts about the Lutheran church as it seemed that just about every Sunday sermon at the time had some topic related to it.

  10. The Lutherans have always been jealous of the Catholic’s child-abuse statistics.

    Now they can catch up.

    1. Many reasons to dis the Church of Rome, but I believe there are other professions that have worse records. Anyone have any statistics on that?

      1. The stats don’t matter, evil is evil and sin is sin, and all men are sinners. By the way I speak of men, man, as all mankind. My intellect cannot accept language insanity. When I say man has a serious problem I am speaking of all mankind, that includes women, it matters not, whether they like it.

      2. The numbers for public school teachers are worse, if I recall correctly. Wherever there are opportunities to be put in positions of authority over minors, there the pedophiles (and ephebophiles) will gather.

          Aye, the Catholic Church’s history of sexual abuse and it’s long-term, top to bottom cover-up of it defines the word “systemic”.

      I’m a confirmed, though lapsed, Lutheran and, no, I’m not envious of that record.

  11. It saddens me to see what’s happened to the Lutheran church in the last 30 years.

    Back then, the pastor at the church I was attending got himself into some hot water. The matter went as far as the synod bishop’s office and it divided the congregation. I didn’t like the way it was handled and I left for good.

    The cleric eventually defrocked himself, voluntarily leaving the ministry, as I understand. Officially, I never found out what the issue was, but, people being what they are, someone couldn’t keep their mouth shut. Apparently, he was having an affair with one of his congregants, though I didn’t know who she was. Both were willing to settle the matter but the third party (presumably his wife) was the one who pushed it all the way to the bishop.

    So, back then, a possible incident of heterosexual infidelity ruined a minister’s career. Nowadays, someone openly displays that they’re swinging the other way and they keep their job.

    Am I missing something?
