I e-mailed the guy pointing out it is the passports, not the ticket price. If others feel so, they should do the same, with facts and respectfully.

And I agree above. I don’t go to anything now. Not restaurants or the odd movie like I did. Groceries are a chore. Kid graduated minor hockey so thankfully I do not have to jump through the hoops to see him play(the only thing I can think of I would do) The mask and vax mandates and the Karens and Nazi’s can go eff themselves.
You can buy store-brand pop, and craft beer from a local brewery. That’s a start.
Watched an item om Fox early this am.. Craft brewers in the US are crying for beer cans.. Made in Asia.. When are producers back here in Gods world going to start making things HERE again and start bringing jobs and items back to our shores.. Nearly 2 years of lockdowns broke a lot of habits including watching sports. It also left a lot of small entrepreneurial businesses bankrupt, or too broke to afford that pair of pro sports season tickets they proudly used to take clients to games. And of course the damn masks & vax passports are a pain in the @$$.
In NCAA hockey, which is fun and way more affordable than the NHL, attendance is down- most college rinks require face diapers and jabs- I’m guessing that’s a factor. Here in Amherst, where the team won the National Championship last year, attendance is way lower than I’d have expected, although Western MA is an epicenter (can there be “an epicenter”?) of corona panic. Masking is ubiquitous here, even outside, alone in cars, or while riding ones bike; many towns including my own, still have indoor mask mandates. I’m assuming the panic will ramp back up with the new Moronic variant….
Oh, and unrelated but yet stupid, the lineup sheets we got the other day from BU included a listing of the “linesppeople”.

NCAA Hockey is totally gay… dumbed down Hockey for people who can’t play real Hockey.
The NHL jettisoned the traditional Hockey game and replaced it with the NCAA style game so the NHL could expand its team count without the nuisance of having to have enough players that could actually play real Hockey.
Thats why we have the no hit, round the outside, play on the perimeter basketball on ice, that passes itself off as Hockey, which it isn’t.
The game is worse then its ever been and its played by a bunch of pampered semi talented drones.
Corporate Hockey is bullshit.
I rather enjoy pro sports. I’m guessing the masks, the passports, the wokeism, Covid and of course the price are all factors.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders sold out almost every home game for several years until they moved into their more spacious new stadium. And they nearly sold that out every game up until Covid.
But Sundays playoff game had an official attendance of 24,000 in a 35,000 seat stadium. But the real turnout could not have been any more than 16,000 based on the number of empty seats in the stands. And it was a beautiful warm day with no wind.
The Kens and Karens won’t go to the games because they are afraid of catching Covid outdoors, and the remainder won’t go because of the vaccines. Apparently a lot of young males who are usual attendees are not getting the shot, and are staying home to watch the game on TV.
Attendance is down almost 50 % in the league and nobody in the media or the government can figure it out.
A league like the CFL cannot survive a 50 % gate.
It is not Covid that kills business or sports, but government policy.
I caught a bit of the game was flabbergasted. I had never seen empty seats at a Sakatchewan home game, especially a playoff game. I figured maybe they will start to rethink the unvaxed exclusion. But in truth they’d rather go broke wouldn’t they?
I’ve watched pro sports since I was a toddler in the 60’s. But at this point I could care less.
And speaking of non vaccinated people EVERY SINGLE case of the new variant was brought to this
country by a vaccinate person (they are the ONLY ones allowed to flt). Vaccinated people should be restricted to their own house.

What does CFL stand for? Canadian Football League you say. That was a long time ago. It’s now the Canadian version of American football. Each team has 46 players of which 2 are quarterbacks. So that leaves 44 players of which 20 can be Americans. So theoretically all 20 American players could be on the field. And this is supposed to be Canadian football. Balderdash.
As the NFL discovered you cannot insult your fans and treat them as unwanted lepers.
And yet the NFL games I’ve seen this season all have packed stadiums (stadia?). Except the Washington Redskins, to no one’s surprise. What does the NFL care? They don’t have to sell one ticket and they still make money.

The whole covid protocol thing is ludicrous. Nobody (or next to nobody) is actually sick. We’ve gone mad.

Why pay $500 for your family to watch in person when you can watch on TV for free? I’ll put that $500 to a new shotgun instead.
Never underestimate your average pro sports fanatic who would sell their own mother into slavery if they were promised free beer (limited to two per customer of course) for one night’s attendance.
I wish it was out of a sense of ethics or morals over the humiliation of providing proof of vaccination or segregation etc. but that’s not what I’m not seeing.
And if there are any revenue shortfalls we’ll end up picking up the tab anyways. Owners are the biggest effing crybabies out there. Smart too…they perfected the fine art of convincing cities to erect stadiums and arenas on the taxpayers dime only to hold them hostage years later by threatening to move to other locales when things aren’t to their liking.

Flames games are definitely not full this season. I’d say 75-80%. There’s a lot going on but you factor in prices, vax mandates, irrational COVID fears, habits being broken, and product quality…. well, it’s not surprising.

Remind me again why care home workers are paid a bit more than minimum wage (or that would be immigration?) and big sports young people are paid millions of dollars. It is not just supply and demand.
