New Numbers

Statistics Canada put out a new report the other day.

The majority of COVID-19 deaths (approximately 80% during 2020) occurring among adults aged 65 years and older. Both advanced age and underlying chronic diseases and conditions contribute to these severe outcomes.

In Canada, 73% of Canadians aged 65 years and older reported having one or more of 10 common chronic diseases.

Approximately 90% of COVID-19 related deaths that occurred between March and July 2020 occurred among individuals with pre-existing chronic conditions.

Dementia (including Alzheimer disease) was the most common comorbidity listed with COVID-19 on the death certificates of individuals aged 65 years and over. Other common comorbidities included pneumonia, hypertensive diseases and ischemic heart disease.

More specifically, 45% of Canadians aged 85 years and over who died from COVID-19 between March and December of 2020 had dementia or Alzheimer disease. However, more than 80% of COVID-19 deaths occurred in long-term care, a setting in which the age profile is older and dementia is common.

  1. Obesity is 1st or 2nd as listed comorbidities for Covid in the rest of the world and it isn’t mentioned on Turtle Island? I wonder if it’s because YOU can do something about being fat?

    1. Coldmax …. good catch …. now that u mention it I wonder about that too. I saw one vid from the US and the doctor said obesity was a huge factor in the cases / deaths he had seen.

      1. My brother is an ER doctor elsewhere and his evaluation is the same (and he did not mince words): “obese people die”.

    2. It doesn’t play into the Narrative of this virus being so deadly that it can kill while getting your hair cut but not while you’re pulling down a statue.

The only treatment is a series of questionable shots you need in order to eat at a restaurant or support your family.

Do not ask questions about pre-existing conditions, the nature of shots or why this country is not using Regeneron:

    3. Obesity/diabetes isn’t a problem in the plus 65 demographic as it has usually killed you before you get to that age. You never see a fat centurion

        1. Indeed old white guy …. at 67 years old I have only met one person over 100 … my mom’s good friend made it to just a few days shy of her 102 birthday. The 100th birthday party was a good one!!
In my personal experience quite a few fatties are making it into their late 60’s and 70’s but after that they seem to get rare.

        2. The statistics are shocking! Right?

Let me summarize … old people have more diseases than young people and tend to die from them. Wow! And it took “COVID statistics” to reveal this fact !? Shocked I tell you!

In a related statistic … life expectancy for the average Canadian was 50 years old in 1910
          https://www.statista.com/statistics/1041135/life-expectancy-canada-all-time/
Thank you, white people … for extending everyone’s average lifespan to over 80 years old !!!

    4. Remember Kids, the Virus-That-Is-Not-From-China-Honest is a deadly threat to unfit people.
So all gyms will be shut and you will be restricted on leaving your homes.
Please sit around watching streaming services and eating processed delivered food until the death rates improve.
Anyone discussing going outside to exercise in fresh air and/or Vitamin D will be arrested for abuse of The Science.
      Let’s Go Fauci!

  2. The Alzheimer’s Disease alone would have been enough to neglect or outright euthanise these people.

Along comes COVID-19, and voila! No more old person.

Now that money can be spent on coddling the new voters block.

      1. I’m sure SHA employees are “just following orders”, even if they know what they’re saying is a lie.

        1. LC

And with all the money pharmaceutical companies are making, they can buy a lot of politicians.

    1. How many old people died without treatment because they didn’t know they had “do not resuscitate” on their files?

One hears strong suggestions that a lot of elderly people have ‘well meaning’ other people make these decisions on their behalf.

  3. It would also be very interesting to see how many in that group died within 28 days of receiving the “life saving vaccine”. You can bet your ass that anyone who did so would NOT even be considered to have died from the vaccine itself, but rather their “underlying condition”. The polar opposite to what they did with those who tested positive for the Wuhan virus.

  4. I wonder how much these stats are skewed by Quebec. I recall when they were having big problems their only treatment for the elderly was morphine to make them comfortable until they passed. That might explain obesity not being higher on the list.

  5. None of it matters. As long as there are enough brain dead out there, the bureaucrats can play dictators.
It is the brain dead, who happen to be the majority, that force the rest of us to put up with all of these restrictions. As long as these zombies can be manipulated, we will be in this for the long haul.
The brain dead will accept the BS being fed to them by the MSM and the government windbags. They will not do their own research. They will turn against anyone that provides them with facts, such as the bureaucrats own official data, that the risk is no worse than any other activity.

  6. And the moral of this story is ________ stay away from the LTC ghetto’s and your chances of survival increase considerably. Unless of course you are already on that slippery slope.

  7. We really have no idea how many people died from/with/of whatever, the numbers are all lies as the government is just freaking evil and control is the goal.

    1. vowg, bingo.
Honesly, I’m sick and tired of all these statistics threads. They are distractions, diversions. But even if they are truthful and indicate a necessary change in policy, policy change will be trumped by power dynamics.

Murray Rothbard’s magnum, Power and Market (note the word order) ironically made his brilliant analyses pointless.

Yes, all lies. All parties, all pols.

“Everything government says is a lie, everything it has, it has stolen”.
      – Friedrich Nietzsche

  8. Shout this one from the rooftops, what the Tame Fauxci cabal don’t want you to hear, EVER:

“There was little variation in weekly deaths between 2020 and the prior five years for individuals younger than 65 years of age. Similar patterns were observed for women and men.”

IOW statists have misidentified the true risk factors to society, aka no excess deaths right up to age 65, so as a consequence should stand condemned for their negligent performance in the in long term care facilities fiasco, with 80% of covid deaths there

Government’s performance on covid has been ghastly for the two reasons above and for not recognizing or containing the disease, albeit on our back foot due to China’s lethal failure to warn the world, but still ill-equipped with PPE and properly enforced protocols.

Statists say only they are qualified yet they fail serially . Now they’re coming for our kids. From the data that’s coming out, how long will it before, like comments on CBC FB, Stats Canada data is disappeared in the effort to “inform society,” preferring that uncertainty rule us.

Meanwhile power mongers reverse engineer oppression to fabricate an “unfair,” racist society, inevitably in shared oppression and misery, the ruling class never paying the price for their incompetence and megalomaniacal mendactic hobgoblins of climate change, covid and race.

Or their grievous errors and cynical miscalculations. In fact doubling down on failure, ditching the poor, always serving their clients.

Statism’s depravations and our accountability is forever in the future but never today. That is the drain democracy is circling right now.

  9. Just heard a Gov of BC radio ad…”to continue having access to certain BC events and businesses, please ensure you have your covid-19 immunization and carry your vaccine pass.” It costs a lot of $ for all of these ads.

Meanwhile, 2 people that I know have just died of sudden heart attacks. Early 50’s, double vaxxed. Also several “sudden death” stories in the paper every week. Even those in their early 20’s.

  10. I’m shocked, SHOCKED! I say, that those that passed had other issues!! (Sarc – off)
To listen to the GD media, the Wuflu has done the damage all by itself! Totally healthy people just going about their lives and all if a sudden struck down in their prime!
What else has the media told us that isn’t true?
Global, CTV, are ya listening? CBC, yeah well!

  11. This plandemic seems to have been hatched in the early 2000’s. The computer models that predicted the course of the plandemic were out by a factor of who knows. The gain of function experiments that have been denied by Fauci early on was only a small part of it. The Chinese researchers that were removed from the Winnipeg lab is another part of it. The vilification of HCQ and Ivermectin at the outbreak is another part of it. Unfortunately the population that is smart enough to put all the jig-saw pieces together is in a minority position. Part of our problem is the fact that the ‘Woke’ crowd allowed the theft of the US election in America and Canadians re-elected the most corrupt government in Canadian history. As the man said “You ain’t seen nothing yet!”

The charges laid in the January 6 protest, linked with what is happening in Australia are indications of where this is all heading and we are either too stupid to realize it or too lethargic to get off our collective butts and prevent it from escalating. When the system is corrupt we are all losers and the system is most definitely corrupt.

  12. These seem to be all 2020 data. What to expect in 2021? Well both the UK and Germany are seeing a statistically significant rise in non-covid excess deaths in cancer, heart disease, dementia and strokes.

“The 315 excess deaths logged last week represents a 30% increase on the five-year pre-pandemic average for this time of year.

    They include;

    44 cancer deaths,
40 more deaths linked to circulatory conditions,
    27 dementia or Alzheimer’s deaths,
    and seven from respiratory conditions.

This marks the 20th consecutive week with excess deaths above the five-year average, and highest since the week ending 10 January, 2021.”
    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-58899460.amp

I’m sure inadequate health care during covid is one factor. But it’s well known that the covid vaccines cause heart conditions, blood clots and brain bleeds so vaccines should not be ignored as a cause. Alex Berenson’s substack has more info.

      1. Was not included in that article. A 30% increase and a persistent increase for 20 weeks is clearly saying something unusual is going on. If other countries, like Germany, are seeing the same things then that’s the beginning of a pattern. The vaccines can certainly not be excluded, especially given the known adverse reactions.

        1. The causes of death you list …

          44 cancer deaths,
40 more deaths linked to circulatory conditions,
          27 dementia or Alzheimer’s deaths,

are all generally long term health issues that affect old, unhealthy people. You don’t get jabbed one day and wake up with cancer or dementia the next day. BUT you do get old and die from cancer, Alzheimer’s or circulatory conditions and there is a GIANT aging population change.

I reiterate that the term “statistically significant” really means “otherwise insignificant”.

If you look at the rate of increase in the death rate (the 2nd derivative of total deaths), it might look modest but it produces a “statistically significant” increase in absolute deaths year over year. An increase from 7.7 to 7.9 (per thousand) means 7,600 more people will die in 2021 than 2019 (primarily driven by demographics). So you have to graph your 111 deaths “within” that 7,600 more deaths and argue it is “statistically significant”. It really isn’t to anyone other than a researcher.

          1. Nice try but what the article said was that the percent of excess deaths is significantly higher than the average over the past 5 years. That is why it’s important, because comparing it to a multiyear average allows for direct comparison since from year to year age and comorbidities within a population are roughly constant. If there’s a big shift above the average in excess deaths then finding out why is important.  In fact, it’s why such data is collected. This is really basic data analysis. When doing data analysis you look for changes and “315 excess deaths logged last week represents a 30% increase on the five-year pre-pandemic average for this time of year” is a big change.

Statistically significant is a simply a term used in science to denote that the numbers aren’t spurious. Again, this is very basic information in data analysis. Honestly, I’m not sure why anyone would object to this scientifically important term.

Definition – “Statistical significance is a determination made by an analyst that the results in the data are not explainable by chance alone.”

          2. Let me put it another way. When I worked in a lab, one of my jobs was to collect and analyze environmental samples and report the data. If I saw a 20%-30% increase for multiple weeks in contamination levels in a test site then the government environmental agencies, my employer and I would want to find out why…because that type of increase is not normal.

          3. LC

Steve is correct, 2 years is a long time for many who have certain health issues , So increase in deaths can be attributed natural progression of age related diseases .

  13. A study in the US discovered that of the 740,000 listed as dying from COVID, only 37,000 actually died from COVID alone. (Approximate numbers, I can’t remember where the link is.)

    1. Dirtman

And that puts the final nail in L C’s post about significant deaths. The info used to derive it is unreliable, period.

  14. If you look at the death rate for Canada, 2020 does not “jump of the chart”. In fact, as expected, death rates dropped to a minimum in the 1980s (demographics tells you that most of the baby boomers were in their 20s) and will peak in the 2040s – 2050s (when the baby boomers are in their 80s and 90s).

But if people are dying by the millions (either from covid or the vaccine) it sure isn’t showing up in the data.

    https://www.macrotrends.net/countries/CAN/canada/death-rate

Pro tip #1: when you read “statistically significant” stop reading. They are making shit up.

Pro tip #2: most people (over 65) develop diabetes (type 2) because they are obese (more than 1 in 3 Canadians). That covid might be killing old, obese people who have diabetes should not shock anyone.

  15. The only numbers that matter now are age group 0-18. These numbers need to be solid and weaponized as soon as possible.
There is no benefit for the children to be vaccinated, they are statistically immune.

  16. Pnumonia is the traditional way of the old dieing. In all these cases, I would suggest the “co-morbidity” was the real cause of death.

  17. (from the files of “I am not a medical professional but I can read summary reports”…)

So 45% of our sample had dementia, Alzheimer or Biden.

Forgive me if there is a real obvious answer to this, but why? Does the decline in mental ability affect the body’s natural ability to react to threats? Is this the immune system looking at the virus and saying “Oh… a virus… Corn Pop was one bad dude”?

I have been told (by ‘experts’) that our favourite Chinese Takeaway is a respiratory problem, yet I don’t associate dementia with forgetting how to breathe.

All jokes aside am I missing something here?

  18. Mud

Yes you are missing something, dementia is often the cause of death. So dementia plus what ever, can accelerate death. I’m not a medical expert either, but people who have dementia often deteriorate rapidly, and their death is credited to said dementia. Ask some one who works with old people in long term care facilities.
