  1. I haven’t finished the internet yet so I’m not going to spend twenty-two minutes and forty-five seconds watching someone “restore” an anvil. (There’s probably some things in the garage I should spend that time restoring my self.

    1. It’s called “learning”.

I don’t begrudge the hours I spent under a car in my early HS years … handing tools to Doug, my adoptive father of two years, working on cars in the home garage (moonlighting for $$). I learned how every part of an automobile works. From a carburetor to independent suspension.

I was duly impressed with this man’s anvil base. A thing of beauty and function. And while I doubt I will ever be making an anvil base anytime soon … I may use some of this technique to reset my beloved massive steel vise.

  2. There is probably more job openings for ‘Anvil Restorer’ than ‘Gender Studies Expert’.

    1. That is … until Nancy and Joe pass the $ 4.25 TRILLION … *cough* *cough* … “infrastructure” Bill. Then … all the useless degrees and ill-educated “Studies” graduates will become Federal Government Employees … making massive salaries with ridiculously generous benefits. Their jobs will be to further regulate American’s lives, making us all miserable.

The anvil guy will MAKE beautiful things.

I, for one, fully support ALL competent and skilled “laborers” who BUILD things. People who shuffle papers, and go to meetings for a living RARELY improve anyone’s lives.

  3. It’s worth watching. Fast forward through the ads or anything that doesn’t interest you. Make sure you watch the ball bearing bounce.

  4. Given how much Chinese shit machinery there is, restoring an old Swedish anvil is a worthwhile project.
I bought a Chinese made air compressor a few years ago and it lasted less than 6 months because the typically shabby induction motor gave out. Of 5 of these motors on various Chinese garbage tools I’ve owned over the years, only one still works. So I bought a seventies vintage Craftsman air compressor and it’s been running fine for years.
So yeah, restoring quality tools is very worthwhile and not frivolous at all.

    1. I too wasted money on a chinese made air compressor. It lasted less than a year and the tank corroded right through. So they built this crap with garbage metals. What do you expect …

The thing about Chinese shit is that when you buy it you need to buy again a half hour later.

      1. And that’s why I have a 1943 built Lister CS 12 hp slow twin diesel generator, for backup.
Some of the finest cast iron and steel ever made on this planet is from WW2, built to last like a brick shithouse.
Like the Energizer Bunny, keeps going and going……
