    6. Colonialista, I too stumbled upon the genocide claim a few weeks ago looking for data that there were only about 5,000 indigenous people in all of Canada when Columbus arrived. Instead I found “Anthropologists and historians have, however, given a tentative range of between 350,000 and 500,000 people, with some estimates as high as two million” in the 1500s. There is rewriting history and then there are cases of making stuff up from scratch.

Max and his PPC can say and promise the moon and all the stars, they will not attain power and we will have the worst mess in our history to deal with.

      We get the government we deserve, if Trudeau is returned there should be dead silence from a lot of people.

        It would be nice if people could see that every vote cast for a political party affirms that party’s platform. If you vote for the CPC you’re telling them and every other Canadian you support gun bans, carbon taxes, digital id, mass immigration and globalization.

    1. It is the media that creates narratives and they’re paid by the Trudeau government.
      O’Toole has shown he is untrustworthy with signing a document on television on carbon taxes and then ignore that as any significance when he states to impose it anyways.
      This had gotten him the leadership votes only to flip and change his stance.
      So, answering your question, voting for the PPC isn’t vote splitting, it’s voting for what you want.
      The stronger the votes, the more candidates are in Ottawa.
      Trudeau has fired 3 candidates already which is another 3 less.

  7. I have just completed 34 rounds of radiation therapy, so I have been watching a lot of TV, too much really. One thing I’ve noticed is all the Conservative ads. And the ads have been mostly anti-Trudeau. I’ve seen scores of them, but only one anti-Conservative ad. And social media? Read a lot of the National Post, the Globe and Mail and various business blogs, and virtually all ads are Conservative.

    Which leads one to wonder where are the Liberals spending all their campaign money? Come Monday there will be many surprises, including the delayed mail-in vote.

        2. One of the surprises I am hoping for is that the PPC wins a few seats.

          Another thing to look for is polling forecast errors. I suspect that the polling is way off. The anti-Trudeau vote is angry enough to turn out for the vote. And there are a lot of undecideds out there, and when they have to crowd around polling stations with masks on, these people will not be in a mood to vote Liberal. All through the pandemic Establishment Canada — the government Liberals, the bought-for corporate media — has ruled. But I am not sure the public is all that happy with the establishment.

          This SDA blog and commentary has emphasized the libertarian arguments against pandemic rules. But this ignores the huge, and I mean huge, economic costs that are here or are coming, all of which stem from shutting the country down. The establishment media have underreported ecomic costs, but I think voters are worrying about the troubles ahead of us.

            Imo, it’s never been as easy as at present to decide which way to vote to get the Liberals out.

            The Liberals should be finished as a Party if voters have any common sense at all. However, thing is, the Trudeau Liberal party is going to make us believe they are right about all the decisions that they’ve taken since 2015 because they will get as many mail-in ballots as they need to get that Majority.

            Quite simply, we are doomed.

    3. Dave, depends what part of the country you’re in, and how the parties view their chances. If I recall, you’re in NB. So, if you’re not seeing NDP commercials, they probably think they have no chance there, and are spending it elsewhere, like BC.
      If you’re not seeing Liberal ads, its probably because they think they have NB in the bag, it is after all, solid red (welfare) country where the Libs shower the province with subsidence money to the sheep.
      In BC, we are just blanketed by ads from all three major parties, its nauseating, the mute button is getting worn out. This election cant be over soon enough, for a stalemate result, picking up where we left off 6 weeks ago

  8. You have seen Sweden in the news regarding their reaction to covid and whether leaving businesses staying open or not was a factor in the spread of the virus. I was interested in how it affected their economy – specifically the federal debt.

    In 2020 the Swedish government was able to limit borrowing to 3.0% of GDP (Canada was ~11%). They faced an even bigger financial crisis in 2007-2008 where borrowing reached 3.3% but was balanced by 2010. Up until 2020 Sweden had kept its deficit under 2.0% of GDP.

    I’m not sure if Sweden is a socialist democracy anymore but the government certainly spends money in a disciplined way.

        How did you calculate the cost of a generation of children losing out on almost two years of their life, cognitive development and education? The cost of the societal divisions we’re now saddled with? Our national debt? Our loss of confidence in our institutions? Our already shitty health care system now being totally screwed?

        Perhaps they had more deaths but they’re done with it and we continue on indefinitely.

          1. Fair enough, and thanks for your reply. I hear that argument repeatedly-that they have a higher death rate, and it irks me because it doesn’t take into account them having very light flu seasons in previous years and the overall outcome.

            It’s incredible to me, we went from “what about the children!?” to “forget the children, what about grandma?!” I often wonder if the grandmas we’ve been “saving” have any idea what we did to their grandkids in their name.

  10. Full moon on election day, don’t know how the stars are aligned but the country is already edging towards the cliff on several fronts. I have zero faith in the electorate at this time.

  12. PPC support is widespread and fairly consistent across the country. They’ve got about 5% support in leftist ridings from Vancouver to Toronto to Halifax. They are strongest in the rural prairies and English New Brunswick (around 10%), and weakest in Quebec outside of Max’s own riding (about 2-3%).

    The PPC is strongest in Saskatchewan, where they are polling north of 10% in 10 of the 14 ridings, compared to only 3 of Alberta’s 34 ridings. The Maverick Party is also polling higher in Saskatchewan than Alberta, so this may be the election when the “Land of the Living Skies” wrests the crown from AB as Canada’s most conservative province.

    The idea that the PPC are surging at the expense of the Conservatives is false. Since the election was called both the PPC and CPC have risen in the polls, mostly at the expense of the Liberals and Greens. Though the core of the PPC are former CPC voters, there are also many disgruntled Liberals, Greens and others.

    Though it’s still an uphill fight, Max has made up a little ground in his Beauce riding in the last couple days. He is more than 7 points back but has the momentum going into voting day. Win or lose, he’s made the PPC a force to be reckoned with right across the country.

    1. A real victory would be for Max to win his riding. He just needs a toe hold. That’s how Reform started out.
